We should carefully observe that Christianity does not obliterate earthly relationships and obligations. Men are still men, women are still women, minors are still minors and slaves are still enslaved. Yet consider the new motives that the Christian is now to have in all of these relationships. Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God” “Let”: This is the language of freewill. God does not force Himself upon anyone (Revelation 3:20). “The word of Christ”: The word that Christ taught, the word spoken by Christ, and delivered by the Holy Spirit through the apostles (Hebrews 1:1-2; John 14:26; 16:13; Ephesians 3:3-5; 1 Corinthians
