NUTRITIONAL SKINCARE

Obsessively crafted skincare for over a decade.

For Vintner’s Daughter, a new series of collaborations with the world’s finest artisans is a chance to explore the values of quality and craftsmanship through a new lens.
It is a hot July day in Northern Italy. After a five-hour drive through the winding roads of the Swiss Alps, the Vintner’s Daughter design team arrives at the shores of Lake Como. For over two millennia, this region has been home to some of the finest craftspeople in the world, including woodworkers, stone masons and fresco painters. While still a hub of innovative craftsmanship to this day, Como is now revered for one trade above the rest: fine silk production.
Our team has come to Como for exactly that reason—to explore the craftsmanship behind
these legendary silks for ourselves. We are in the process of developing a new limited edition series of collaborations with the world’s finest craftspeople, titled In Natura Veritas , meaning, “In Nature There is Truth.” Every piece in the series will be crafted in a different medium in partnership with a different artisan.
We wind our way through the narrow streets, coming to a stop outside the doors of worldrenowned textile manufacturer Achille Pinto. For over nine decades, the world’s most prestigious fashion houses, from Chanel to Gucci, have used Pinto’s silks as their canvas, crafting more than a few iconic moments in fashion history. Inside the company’s workshop, archived designs hang in neatly

cataloged rows, draping the walls from floor to ceiling in a rainbow of silk. Although we work in a completely different medium, crafting our skincare formulas on the other side of the world, we cannot help but feel at home.
“Their approach to their work is so similar to ours,” explains Vintner’s Daughter founder April Gargiulo. “The team at Achille Pinto share a century of expertise and discipline. They care deeply about what they produce, which is why we knew right away that we wanted to work together.”
From day one we have seen ourselves as a leader in the world of beauty and craft. Our performance-driven, whole-plant formulas take sixty-six times longer to produce than the average skincare product, and feature a minimum of two dozen rigorous active ingredients in every bottle. While these obsessively high standards have marked us as an outsider in the beauty industry, we are welcomed with open arms in the world of fine craftsmanship.
Alongside the Achille Pinto team, our designers begin their research and design, combing through over ninety years of archived prints. We begin by selecting a vintage print of hand-drawn roses from the Pinto archives, an homage not only to our whole-plant ingredients, but to the time-honored traditions that are woven into the fabric of everything we create. Cutting across the opposite side of the scarf is a bold geometric pattern, designed exclusively for this piece by the Pinto team. The result is a scarf design that holds the same duality as our formulations, a deep reverence for heritage and tradition combined with a curiosity of modern innovations.
“There’s a discipline to what we do at Vintner’s Daughter,” says April. “We make our products with a meticulous eye on quality and craftsmanship. We could not do it any other way. This philosophy is the guiding force behind In Natura Veritas .”
Coming from a family of fine winemakers in Napa Valley, April knows that an obsessive degree of expertise and dedication can take your craft from simply “acceptable” to “the best in the world.” She believes the same is true no matter the medium in which you work. In creating every item in the In Natura Veritas series, April hopes to be able to highlight the work of other craftspeople who choose to bring the same level of commitment to their work.

“It
is about uncompromising integrity. The people we partner with will always focus on making their finest work possible, no matter how long it takes, no matter how inconvenient it might be. That is the true nature of craftsmanship and together we choose to honor and celebrate it.”
—APRIL GARGIULO, FOUNDER
The final product of our work with Achille Pinto, The Modern Heirloom Scarf, is the perfect example of this, showcasing the integrity both companies share. In every hand-stitched thread along the hem, and within the intricately printed In Natura Veritas emblem, you will find it: a commitment to the finest craftsmanship, no matter what we are making.
