Care and Maintenance:

Regular Cleaning: Dust or vacuum your limestone regularly to remove loose dirt and debris, which can cause scratches. Use a soft-bristled broom or vacuum with a brush attachment to avoid scratching.

Mopping: For routine cleaning, mop the surface with a damp mop or microfiber cloth using a pHneutral cleaner specifically designed for limestone. Avoid excessive water, as limestone is porous.

Rinsing and Drying: After cleaning, rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and dry it with a soft cloth or towel to prevent water spots and streaks.

Cleaning Spills Immediately: Limestone is easily stained, so wipe up spills as soon as possible to prevent them from setting.

Mix a small amount of pH-neutral cleaner with warm water. Apply the solution gently with a damp cloth or non-abrasive sponge. For stubborn stains, allow the solution to sit for 5-10 minutes, then scrub lightly with a soft-bristled brush

The old rule of thumb is never to use anything you wouldn’t use on your hands. Never use powdered cleansers or abrasive pads to clean your natural stone countertop. Even “soft scrub” type cleaners contain pumice, which is powdered volcanic stone, and might damage your marble vanity tops or floors. You should always use sealers and cleaning products designed for natural stone. Clean your stone with lukewarm water and dry with a cotton rag.

Polished granite is a very durable stone, much harder than marble. Granite has been used in the past in the commercial industry. Some of the obvious applications have been panels on the outside of buildings, walls, and floors of “high-traffic” areas. Granite will withstand almost any element it comes up against including heat and cold. Granite itself is approximately 95-98% stain resistant although, we use a silicone impregnator sealer on all our natural stone products. This will insure lasting life and beauty. Polished Granite should receive the same cleaning care as polished marble, use lukewarm water and dry with a cotton rag. When needed, spray glass cleaner (i.e. windex) and paper towel dry.

BACKSPLASH TILE GROUT

CUSTOM #640 ARCTIC

• Do not clean porcelain tile flooring with ammonia or with cleaners that contain bleach and/or acid. Acid and ammonia based cleaners may modify grout color and product stability. • Use a cleaner that is ph neutral. This ensures cleaning will not harm your grout or surrounding surfaces. • Do not use wax or oil-based cleaners. • Use rugs at entrances to prevent dirt and grit from being tracked onto the tile flooring from outdoors. Tiles are scratch resistant but not scratch proof. • Do not use steel wool or other abrasive pads to remove tough debris or stains. Steel wool may scratch your tiles and loose steel particles may eventually create rust stains in the grout overtime. • Although glazed surfaces are impervious, the use of a grout release will aid in post installation clean up, especially if the glazed surface has a texture to it where mortar, grout and other construction debris can get trapped inside grooves during and after installation. Standard cleaning guidelines for glazed products 1. Sweep or vacuum loose dirt and dust from the floor prior to washing with water to prevent the tile from becoming muddy or leaving a residue after cleaning. On textured surfaces sweep in multiple directions to ensure the removal of all foreign material that might be residing in the textured surface. For wall surfaces tile can be gently wiped down with a clean, dry cloth or rag. 2. Mop the floor with a mild detergent, degreaser, or tile cleaning solution. For textured floors, the use of a medium bristle brush is recommended. A sponge or clean cloth can be used to apply the cleaning agent to wall surfaces. 3. Rinse the tile thoroughly with clean water to remove any left-over detergents. 4. Drying with a clean cloth or rag is recommended to increase the shine and to prevent water spots or streaks.

Once the surface has been cleaned “after laying” (see previous chapter), for everyday cleaning we recommend the use of a neutral detergent. Avoid using widely available detergents containing waxes and polishing additives that can deposit an undesired coaching on the flooring. We strictly advise against the use of waxes greasy soaps, fillers and various treatments (water and oil repellent) on the Supergres product, as they are not necessary. If the above treatments have been applied they will firstly need to be removed from the flooring using specific products following the manufacturer’s instructions. In the case of coatings created by soap, lime scale or dirt, you will need an acidic detergent, diluted in water as appropriate (always follow the instructions on the label). It should be noted that is hydrofluoric acid (HF) and its derivatives may damage the tiles permanently. For routine cleaning operations we recommend the use of bleach or ammonia, appropriately diluted in water. For all lapped or polished surfaces, the use of non-abrasive cleaning equipment is necessary to prevent the surface from losing its shine or becoming scratched. We also recommend leaving the floor to dry properly to prevent stains from forming.

For glass, ceramic and porcelain walls, regular cleaning can be done with detergent and rinsed with water. You can also use household cleaners according to their label directions. Try not to use scouring powders or other abrasives, which can scratch the surface. Special cleaning may be necessary to remove soap scum, a rough white coating created from hard water and mildew. It is recommended to use a mixture of ½ cup of water softener, 2 tablespoons of rottenstone and 1 cup of hot water to remove soap scum. To remove mildew, use a mixture of diluted chlorine. And to eliminate the rough white coating that can appear on the tiles, use a commercial tile cleaner to dissolve it.

We recommend that shower walls are wiped down with a squeegee after each use to prevent hard water stains and mildew development. Routine cleaning should be carried out with a pH neutral stone and tile cleaner like AQUAMIX SUPER CONCENTRATE, following manufacturer’s directions for proper solution strength and application.

Wiping Technique: Use a soft cloth to gently clean, then rinse and dry thoroughly. Drying helps prevent staining.

Avoid Harsh Cleaners: Never use abrasive cleaners, scrubby sponges, or acidic cleaners (like vinegar or citrus products), especially on stones prone to etching like marble. Harsh cleaners can weaken sealant and dull the stone's appearance.

Promptly Wipe Up Spills: Immediately wipe up any spills, especially acidic ones like citrus, tomatoes, coffee, wine, soda, vinegar, and fruit juice, as these can stain granite and etch marble. Blotting oil and acidic spills quickly is particularly important.

CARMEL STONE

JERUSALEM GREY / GOLD LIMESTONE

TUMBLED

2X2 MOSAIC

COMES ON 12X12 MESH

When it comes to cleaning Jerusalem Stone, it’s important to follow some general guidelines. Start by removing loose dirt and debris using a soft brush or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment. This step prevents scratching the surface during the cleaning process.

After removing loose dirt and debris from the stone, it is recommended to perform a patch test in an inconspicuous area before applying any cleaning solution. This will ensure that the cleaner does not cause any discoloration or damage to the stone.

Additionally, it is advisable to avoid using abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals on your stone, as they can erode the surface and affect its natural beauty. Taking these extra precautions will help maintain the pristine condition of your stone and prolong its lifespan.

pH-Neutral Stone Cleaners

Using pH-neutral stone cleaners is crucial for maintaining the beauty of your stone. These cleaners are specially designed to effectively eliminate dirt and grime without posing any risk to the stone’s surface. When diluting the cleaner, be sure to follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to achieve the correct concentration.

Apply the diluted solution onto the stone using a soft cloth or sponge, ensuring that the entire surface is covered. Carefully scrub any stubborn stains or spots, applying gentle pressure to avoid scratching the stone. Once you have thoroughly cleaned the stone, rinse it with clean water to remove any residue and reveal its natural luster.

Addressing Specific Stains

When dealing with different types of stains on Jerusalem Stone, it’s important to employ specific cleaning methods. In the case of oil or grease stains, creating a poultice with a mixture of baking soda and water proves highly effective. Spread the poultice over the stained area, cover it with plastic wrap, and allow it to sit overnight. The poultice will work its magic by absorbing the oil or grease, and the following day, you can easily remove it by gently rinsing and wiping the surface. To tackle organic matter stains like food or plant debris, a mild detergent or soap mixed with water can work wonders. Apply the solution to the stained area, using a soft cloth or sponge to scrub gently. Once you have thoroughly scrubbed the area, rinse it meticulously to ensure all traces of the cleaning solution and stains are removed.
