The CollegeLeadership of Alabama

MARION MILITARY INSTITUTE

MMI develops a cadet into a young leader whether pursuing a military or civilian career. This is done through MMI’s high quality education and immersive military environment which provides for first-hand leadership education and character development. This unique and rich educational experience makes each cadet more competitive for transfer to a four-year university, or an appointment to a Service Academy, or scholarship opportunities, and eventually for a job. Every cadet leaves MMI not only better educated, but a better person with more advanced leadership skills and better developed character than any peer from anywhere else … and every future employer in America will see it that way. An Associate’s Degree from MMI, “The Military College of Alabama,” is a competitive edge unlike any other.

I graduated from Marion Military Institute in 2017 with my associate’s degree after being enrolled in the Leadership Education Program, which is a non-military track. After MMI, I transferred to the University of Alabama and obtained a degree in political science with an emphasis in pre-law and am currently attending Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. My opportunities at MMI led me to an internship in Washington, DC with Congresswoman Terri Sewell. The internship aligned with my future plans to attend law school and later run for public office. MMI definitely helped me reach my full potential. The skills and lessons I learned at MMI have helped me in the civilian world. I can honestly say that it was one of the best investments I could ever make.

They say if you love what you do in life then you’ll never work a day. I attended the Service Academy Program at Marion Military Institute and ran for the Cross Country team. While MMI was hard work, it will always be the best college experience I ever had. My best friends today and current teammates all came from the same small military school on Washington Street. MMI taught me how to take responsibility for myself and others and own up to all of my actions, which I could never have done in that capacity on my own. Being a part of the Cross Country team helped me stay in shape to walk on to a D1 rugby team and the SAP program pushed me to get appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Marion will always be my home. Go Tigers, go!
