This is constantly evidenced in my blog through research and visual investigation. It is also evidenced on my visual journal through initial ideas, early sketches thumbnails and roughs ,which helped me to select an appropriated trajectory on my project considering media, audience and personal aesthetic .

This is evidenced in my blog .whereas I investigated and explored different concepts from a starting point or theme. Visual investigation on multiple artists helped through the module to solve some aesthetic and contextual issues that I encountered. This is evidenced in my final Illustrations . With the Very good guide and help of the previous stages of the project, helped me to successfully produce a number of final outcomes based on my research, proposal ,problem solving skills and visual investigations previously done.

This is evidenced mainly through a series of blog posts during the module, the 5 boards and my project report ,which summarise my work progress through the module. The blog posts helped me to self reflect and evaluate my practice in order to improve my weaknesses .

At the beginning of the module I wasn’t sure yet what to expect from it. I knew it was a chance for us to show what we are learnt through the year and a chance to share with everybody, according to our personal taste where our practice is heading towards. Having that in mind, it really encouraged us to start the module with focus and energy. To start with, the class were separated into different groups according to the different industries that we find interesting and related to our practice. I’ve learnt more about Character and Narrative while researching for a group task we had. This task helped me to be more confident about the Character and Narrative, as another options were also very promising.

I used this project to investigate in depth various aesthetic aspects from my childhood such as cartoons, Japanese culture and videogames. This was a great opportunity for me to take further my character and concept design skills, at the same time improving my visual narrative . During my research and visual investigation I found various key artist relevant to my concept but most importantly to my practice. These artists ( Ishihara Gojin, Ryan Barger, Eric Deschamps and Daarken ) really helped me and inspired me through the module. I tried to absorb some of the best visual qualities they have to offer and although still I have a long way to go, I definitely consider that these artists had influenced and improved some aspects of my practice such as composition, light and shadows, atmosphere and most importantly , my digital skills.

My visual journal also had become the best way to start exploring colours ideas for both, characters and backgrounds. I learnt that using watercolour during my early sketching process is my quickest way to explore character considering future outcomes. To start with, using my visual journal from the very beginning I found

it very useful. Working on early sketches and thumbnails really helped to consider and choose the best 6 designs to keep developing, as I struggled choosing and selecting characters from a big list. During my final development, I also learnt to always use my roughs while designing final outcomes for a better sense of compositions.

The final illustrations I think that shows and reflects all the trajectory from the beginning of my research ( Ideas,concept, aesthetic considerations) to the final product. Thanks to the visual investigation on different artists from different styles has guided my practice successfully. I consider that I solved the visual problems through the module, and my choice of working on digital media has been recompensed as my skills has improved greatly. If I look back when I started this career I have no idea at all on how to use Photoshop, if I look back now, I think there is an increased progress on digital skills.

To end with, and probably the most important and recognizable aspect of this module , has been the application part. We all are used to produce art at any time, but perhaps not everyone has ever experienced the opportunity to distribute and promote the artwork for future clients or commission work. At this stage of our career, I think this module has been tremendously relevant and really important to our practice. I’ve learnt not just to produce quality artwork, but to think and consider (being realistic, according to my practice and aesthetic) the different industries where my work can be distributed on a product. My final decision on apply my artwork to a fantasy trading card game has been successful. I received a lot of good feedback from the last megacrit focus on applications. These feedbacks were very supportive with my decision and encouraged me to explore the merchandising behind the main application. I also produced various products based from the trading card game, such as T-shirts or phone cases related with Magic: The Gathering industry .

Overall, I think that through this module, I’ve encouraged and pushed my practice in order to improve my digital skills, and by doing so, my understanding and control on the media has improved. At the same time, I learnt the importance of applying illustration to a product for a specific audience. These values will be enormously important for future personal projects.
