The SCHOTTEL Twin-Propeller (STP) is the successful optimization of the complete Rudderpropeller system with an efficiency up to 20% higher. It is the ideal means of propulsion for all vessels in the medium speed range.

Two propellers mounted on a common shaft and rotating in the same direction, with guide fins integrated into the complete system, result in a host of advantages, including high reliability due to the straightforward construction with a small number of moving parts, reduction of the propeller diameter without penalizing the efficiency, lower fuel costs and low maintenance requirements.

Der SCHOTTEL Twin-Propeller (STP) ist die erfolgreiche Optimierung des Gesamtsystems SCHOTTEL Ruderpropeller mit einem bis zu 20% höheren Wirkungsgrad. Er ist der ideale Antrieb für alle Schiffe im mittleren Geschwindigkeitsbereich. SCHOTTEL controllable-pitch propellers (SCP) are propulsion systems that can be used with almost any type of vessel.

The power spectrum ranges from 1000 to 30,000 kW, with propeller sizes varying between approximately 1.8 to 8.0 metres.

SCHOTTEL-Verstellpropeller (SCP) sind Propulsionsanlagen, die nahezu in allen Schiffstypen eingesetzt werden können.

Das Leistungsspektrum reicht von 1000 bis 30.000 kW. In diesem Leistungsbereich werden Propeller von ca. 1,8 bis 8,0 m Durchmesser eingesetzt.

Advanced calculation methods allow the controllable-pitch propeller systems to be optimally adapted to the vessel’s hull form, thereby maximizing efficiency and minimising noise generation.

The SCHOTTEL Pump-Jet (SPJ) operates on the principle of a centrifugal pump.

An impeller sucks in water from under the hull and forces it into a pump housing.

The outlet nozzles are fitted in the bottom plate, making it possible for the jet to be installed in a flat-bottomed hull too.

With a compact design, low loss of buoyancy and low suction effect, PumpJets with power ratings up to 3500 kW develop a high thrust even in extremely shallow water and over a wide speed range. Like all SCHOTTEL products, they are distinguished by their excellent manoeuvring properties – as propulsion units for inland and coasting vessels or as independent manoeuvring and standby systems for seagoing ships.

Der SCHOTTEL Pump-Jet (SPJ) arbeitet nach dem Prinzip einer Kreiselpumpe.

Ein Laufrad saugt das Wasser unter dem Schiffsboden an und befördert es in ein Pumpengehäuse. Die Austrittsöffnungen sind in der Bodenplatte angeordnet, so dass der Antrieb auch in einem flachen Schiffskörper installiert werden kann.

Pump-Jets mit Leistungen bis 3500 kW entwickeln bei kompakter Bauweise, mit geringem Auftriebsverlust und geringer Sogwirkung hohen Schub auch in extrem flachem Wasser und in einem breiten Geschwindigkeitsbereich. Wie alle SCHOTTEL Produkte, zeichnen auch sie sich durch exzellente Manövriereigenschaften aus – als Hauptantriebe für Binnenund Küstenschiffe oder als unabhängige Manövrier- und Notsysteme für seegehende Schiffe.

SCHOTTEL has developed a new concept that combines the main technical and economic criteria of both mechanical Rudderpropellers and pod drives: the SCHOTTEL Combi Drive (SCD).

Auf der Kombination der technischen und wirtschaftlichen Hauptkriterien von mechanischen Ruderpropellern auf der einen und Pod-Antrieben auf der anderen Seite basiert der SCHOTTEL Combi Drive (SCD).

In contrast to pod drives with an electric motor inside the underwater pod, the motor in the new propulsion system will be integrated vertically into the support tube of the Rudderpropeller. This arrangement of the electric motor means that the concept is similar to that of a Rudderpropeller with a vertical power input (“L system�).

Im Gegensatz zum Pod-Antrieb mit Elektromotor in der Unterwassergondel ist beim Combi Drive der E-Motor vertikal in das Tragrohr des Ruderpropellers integriert. Durch diese Anordnung des Elektromotors ist das Konzept vergleichbar mit einem Ruderpropeller mit vertikalem Krafteingang (L-Anlage).

Moreover, neither an above-water gearbox nor a cardan shaft will be required, making the system extremely compact and easy for the shipyard to install in the vessel.

Da zudem weder Oberwassergetriebe noch Gelenkwelle erforderlich sind, ist die Anlage extrem kompakt und aus Sicht der Werft einfach und sehr platzsparend im Schiff zu installieren.
