As we observed that the canopy shape was not perfectly fair and smooth where the original ribs were located, we decided to change rig design in a way that would allow us to put Cam Battens at the seams where the middle three ribs are located. This required a rib redesign effort that eventually resulted in the Vertex Rib design. The new North Kiteboarding Vertex Rib design has the main advantage that it allows Cam Battens at every seam between the tip ribs and thus gives the kite a perfectly fair and smooth shape from tip to tip. 02

These loops attached to the inside of the wingtips make it easier to hold the kite for bodydrag rescue. 03

These connectors prevent the number one cause of kite accidents by ensuring that front lines cannot be attached to the back of the kite and back lines cannot be attached to the front. 04

The low-drag ribs require a high inflation pressure, thus all valves at the chambers are self-closing. Thanks to the worked-in drainage functionality, the air can be let out within a few seconds. 05

This material fulfils two functions: 1. -- It adds protection and increases durability. 2. -- It strengthens and stiffens the profile. Snakeskin is made of 2.1 oz ripstop, which is twice as strong as conventional canopy material. 06

A major concern in this project has been batten durability. We approached this issue by choosing new, thin, soft battens made out of flexible Nylon. 07

Batten Pockets are built of sticky-back Insignia cloth lining the canopy surface where battens are located. This combines with heavy, abrasion-resistant nylon fabric on surfaces that come between the batten and sources of abrasion damage, such as hard sand beaches. Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve allowed a Rhino prototype to tumble in surf and white water for a time to test the construction. There was no damage to batten pockets or canopy. It also helps keep the kite tips from flogging too much when the kite is left on the beach in strong winds. 08

The new North Kiteboarding 2 Pump System makes rigging significantly faster and easier. The leading edge is inflated separately from the diagonal struts. This offers the following advantages: precise inflation of the various struts to the optimum pressure and simple packing of the kite with inflated diagonal struts.

Northâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s new two-point inflation system makes rigging, packing and repairing your kite easier than ever. One valve on the center strut inflates all of your struts simultaneously. One valve on the leading edge inflates the rest of your kite. This, unlike some other inflation systems, enables you to pump up your struts and leading edge rock-hard for the best possible performance.

The leading edge remains completely separate from the struts. The struts are connected by a small rubber hose tucked neatly out of sight behind the leading edge that Tâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s off to each strut. Once the leading edge is inflated, small webbing isolators are automatically squeezed down tight against the hose blocking the airflow from each strut to the next. No plastic pieces to tighten, no valves to turn. Just clean, simple and functional. Repairing your bladders is as easy as ever. For strut repairs, simply disconnect the T joint and pull the bladder out as usual. Because each strut is isolated, locating leaky bladders is never a problem.

All 2007 NKB kites are based on the 5th Element System. With this design the benfits are: SAFETY

Whether you ride unhooked, spin, try a water relaunch for the first time or practice a handle pass, all maneuvers, including the latest tricks, can now be performed with the safety leash of the 5th Element. NKB has a 3 step safety system: 1. -- The long chicken loop allows the kite to depower almost completely, when you let go of the bar. 2. -- If this is not enough, release the Iron Heart and the kite will fall out of the sky with no power or twists in the lines. Laying there on the water it is ready for relaunch. 3. -- If this is still not enough, you can release the safety system of your leash and let go of the kite. Please only do this in emergency as your kite is now disconnected completely and can be dangerous to others downwind. PER FORMA NCE

Iron Heart

The Iron Heart is NKBâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s updated safety system. Its solid V4A construction allows releasing loads of 100 kg with a force of only 5 kg. The release grip is centrally located above the chicken loop where it is always easy to find and can be released with either the right or left hand. The attachment head can be manually twisted around the lower part of the system, which allows untwisting the front lines. 02

Vario Cleat

The new NKB Vario Cleat is a multifunctional depower device. It is the first device on the kitesurfing market that allows you to adjust the length of the depower line and the position of the depower system. One 4 All

Adjustable bar ends permit two different bar widths â&#x20AC;&#x201C; 47 and 56 cm. The One 4 All Bar allows the kiter to use just one bar with all kites. The Ready to Go System helps laying out the lines and launching the kite directly. Identical line lengths for each kite make switching sizes fast and uncomplicated. Only some fine tuning is required to suit the various harness types and individual riding styles. 04

Free Sliding Stopper

The Sliding Stopper permits adjusting your chicken loop throw on the fly. It is particularly helpful in light wind conditions to avoid constantly having to hold the entire load of the bar. This system should only be used on the water and at a safe distance from dangerous objects since it is able to reduce the kiteâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s maximum de-power. The Free Sliding Stopper is easily adjusted with one hand. 05

Colored Vario Trim Check

As people like to have a longer or shorter chickenloop throw the new NKB Colored Vario Trim allows you to change it and make sure your bar is still set right. To shorten / lengthen your chicken loop throw using the Individual Adjustment System, simply pull out the small black plastic clip on the back of the Vario Cleat. Feed the rope(s) up or down through the cleat until the desired colored position marker shows just below the cleat. Once this is done is it important to move the Bar Pigtail to the Leader Line attachment marked by the same color as the Vario Cleat position indicator. TIP: Adjusting your chicken loop throw does have an effect on your line lengths. A simple trick to make sure your adjustments are correct is to make sure that your back kite line attachments on the leader lines are roughly at the same distance from the bar as the pulley above your Vario Cleat.

In cooperation with FSE Robline we developed new kite lines that represent a true innovation in the kite market. A weaved-in mono-film creates a memory effect in these low stretch lines (approximately 10 % less stretch than last yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s). When the line is lightly bent it returns faster to its original state and becomes slightly stiffer. This makes it easier and quicker to lay out and separate the lines. As an added bonus we increased the breaking strength to 300 daN (approx. 300 kg). Different colors were also added for safe rigging with our color code system.

Asymmetrical Step Cap is our tried and tested basic construction. The heelside is a little stiffer for a good pop and edge grip, while the toeside is softer for easy carving! 3D Sandwich Cap is the result of four years experience with High Pressure Technology and the latest trends in board design. The combination of ABS sidewalls with a variable thickness and a 3D profile allows us to create individual flex properties in the various areas of the board, depending on the desired riding characteristics! Custom EPS / PVC sandwich

Thanks to its similarity to a surfboard, the Rocketfish is equipped with a relatively big volume compared to the twin tips. In order to minimize the board weight, however, we have provided the board with a custom EPS / PVC sandwich construction derived from windsurfing board technology. An extremely lightweight EPS core is processed with PVC panels to a sandwich core providing for a high level of stiffness with a small density by volume. The sandwich core is then laminated using epoxy laminate. In order to give each board its unique riding styles we have developed three different Flex layups for the 2007 board range.

The Crossride has two stance positions; a traditional twin-tip stance for freestyle performance, and a stance set back from center for carving, wave riding and a more directional feel.
