Furling Genoa

Hood’s high technology brings performance to our roller reefing/furling genoas.

The Cross Cut Genoa is computer designed and laser cut for precision to give your boat maximum speed and upwind performance. An optional shaped foam pad can be sewn into the luff so that the leading edge will remain flat and not "belly", as other genoas do when reefed.

Specially engineered sailcloth woven inhouse. Probably the tightest polyester weave fabric available today.

Computer Design

Almost any genoa can be adapted to roller furling with a luff tape, but unless the sail was specifically designed for roller furling and reefing, you will never reach your boat’s designed performance.

Tell tales for optimum sail trim and sailing angle.

Hood are the only sailmakers in the world to weave their own fabric

Cross Cut Furling Genoas are constructed with warp orientated polyester creating a strong sail for a wide usable wind range. A specially developed UV resistant acrylic stripe helps protect the sail from ultra-violet degradation when fully furled.

UV resistant, stripe acrylic cloth to protect against the sun's harmful rays.

Hand finishing is still a Hood speciality so you get a high tech sail from the World’s most sophisticated sailmaker, with the care and attention to detail of highly skilled sailmakers.

In addition, the Cross Cut Furling Genoa has strengthening patches at the highest load areas of the clew, this, plus tack patches add strength to the most highly-loaded areas of the reefed sail. The foot is marked and labelled with overlap percentages so that you can reduce the sail to 115% overlap or 95% overlap for exact ‘first’ and ‘second’ reefs every time. To further aid your accuracy for proper sail trim, there is a trimming line at the clew to indicate the correct lead to the sheet block.

Attention to Detail

It is woven more tightly than any other cloth to give you greater durability and a soft finish.
