A confusing, opaque ritual that from a legal perspective exists outside our Code and governmental structure, but by tradition has attached itself to our electoral process, our government (which lists fictional Town Meeting districts on the official website, and the current Mayor despite its utter lack of legal authority.

If you buy or rent a home without a driveway or garage then you should understand that you might not always have a convenient spot to park. It is not my responsibility to fund private parking financially (Murray) or by deducting my own convenience

Seems to be somewhat of a Republican pep rally congruent with the fact that Town Meeting is a PAC. Their candidates end up on the pink slate; therefore I consider it a Republican PAC. And, last year during the Mayors lengthy presentation at it he presented a key to the city to Tom Brinkman.

Talk about business development in the business district. Who talks about this? I mean prime space was leased to someone who opened up for six weeks per year for a holiday exhibit. Who is paying attention to this? We have empty spaces (bank, restaurant at the theater) that should be of the utmost concern to the community. We're stuck with a Mayor who lacks vision and has been brainwashed by Ken Tankersely to limit recreational access in our parks. We could have been part of a joint economic district that will be happening in Columbia Township but he passed on the opportunity.

It would be interesting to hold small group meetings instead of having everyone present in the main room you could have the presenters present a couple of times so people could go 2 more than one. The programs could be videotaped so other people in the village could see them or even do them live stream Town Meeting could revamp itself and still add to village character by showcasing traditions. Honestly, I believe the time has come for Town Meeting to distance itself entirely from village politics.

Initial speakers were informative, respectful and concise. Clem Luken was insensitive to the rights of others to speak and spoke way too long. The Mayor and others running the meeting were negligent in not shutting him down.

3/14/2018 8:41 PM Town Meeting is free to suggest candidates to the community for election to Council based on whatever requirements they see fit, including fictional geographic districts. However, they are unacceptably intertwined with the Village government and the Mayor. This was particularly true when they permitted the Mayor, without any legal authority under the Municipal Code or the Town Meeting Constitution to appoint a council member to a fictional district having nothing to do with the Village government, thus influencing where the TM would hold the caucus for a departing member's replacement. While I suppose they can campaign in elections for their chosen TM candidates based on their belief in spreading out candidates across their fictional districts, in 2016 the Mayor campaigned alongside them, handing out flyers leaving off the at-large candidate. The list of TM candidates also appeared on a handout at the polls listing Republican-approved candidates, leaving off the at-large candidate, and introducing an element of partisanship we should fight desperately to keep out of our village government. The fictional TM districts are also included on our official Village website, even though they don't exist legally. TM members seem to believe that without their districts and nominations of candidates, we would not have a democratic village government. While I disagree, it's troubling that this organization that is "essential" to democratic government does not have a website, you can't find their Constitution or regulations online, and you have to contact one of their members to be sent a PDF of their official documents.

I understand that canvassing signs can be distracting in the community, but my "district" representative has never asked me what is important to me based on where I live in the Village. It’s original intent was a good idea, however there is now a culture that seems to discourage residents from running for elected office if they do not come through this PAC. I believe the BEST most passionate people should be encouraged to run for office regardless of where they live in relationship to town meetings arbitrary districts. Town meeting districts needs to be removed from the Village website. I do not like how Town Meeting seeks to have the “election” before the actual election. We are a small community and the thought that our at large council members cannot represent all residents is absurd. I believe the democratic process is made more robust and viable when multiple people run for any given position. Even the name “Town Meeting” is misleading residents to think it’s an official part of our local government. Mariemont should be encouraging the most passionate, brightest people to run for office regardless of what street they live on.

Also, Mariemont is one mile. There is no need for separate districts, especially not 6 of them. I have been watching all this back and forth over the vacant seat and it's honestly ridiculous. My needs as a resident of District 2 cannot be vastly different than the needs of the people across the street in District 1.

Someone needs to ensure DUKE fixes the mess they have left and repair the Trolley Turnaround green space...it is an eyesore.

Tell meeting has been held during spring break many years and is usually on a Sunday during the day so it’s been difficult for parents with children who play sports basically elementary school to attend.

Videotaping and live streaming the event could provide more people with an opportunity to be informed and provide feedback. Since TM is a PAC, elected Village officials such as the Mayor should not be allowed to campaign for candidates, lead any TM meetings or caucuses, or have authority to determine actions or decisions that are the role of TM Committee members 2/27/2018 7:02 AM Good idea re: the survey. I assume results will be published in the TC and perhaps also shared at TM, which hopefully will prompt further discussions among residents. Additionally, should the leaders of the various Village orgs be personally invited to attend (or send a proxy) and be introduced at TM (or send a proxy) and be (briefly) introduced/acknowledged?
