Fly Your Flag
Since July 4th is almost here, and Mariemont is a flag-flying community, here are a few tips on flying your flags correctly. ·
• When the Flag is displayed from a staff projecting horizontally or at an angle from the window sill, balcony or front of building, the union of the Flag should go clear to the head of the staff unless the Flag is at half-staff.
• When displayed with another flag against a wall from crossed staffs, the Flag of the United States should be on the right, the Flag's own right , and it ' s staff should be in front of the other flag. When two flags are parallel the U S. Flag is always on the right (or the left when looking at them).
So let ' s see all those flags flying on the Fourth!!!
hats off!

Suspect Apprehended From the Mayor's Desk
On February 20th , a theft offense occurred in the Admitting Office of Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. Taken in this offense was a woman's purse containing cash and credit c ards
Sometime later charges began to appear on the accounts of the credit cards taken in the theft. Intensive investigation into the fradulent use of these stolen c redit cards turned up a partial license plate of a suspect automobile and a physical description of the person using the stolen cards
This particular license plate series consisted of nine hundred ninety nine plates having been issued in the letter index of the series. Other than the partial license plate letters and a physical description of a suspect, one witness was able to state that the car on which these plates appeared was a green Chevrolet Impala. Specialist Michael Wilson, and Lieutenant Randall Mell , then asked the Bureau of Motor Vehicles for a print out on all vehicles registered in this series. From that list they extracted the number of vehicles that were Chevrolet Impala's. Since the files of the BMV does not list cars by color, these Chevrolet Impala's had to be p ersonally viewed by officers seeking out the ones that were green in color. This was a long and tiresome effort, involving considerable travel and long working hours .
Criminal record checks were ran on all owners of green Chevrolet Impala's, a photo line up was conducted for the witnesses who had furnished the preliminary information.
Based on thi s information Spl. Wilson signed charges of forgery and receiving stolen property against the suspect. Wanted person information on the suspect was then entered into the terminals of the regional, state and national crime information cen t ers.
Tennis
Tennis clinics started June 15th, but it's still not too late to sign up. Come and join in on the fun. For more information call Pam Reeves at 2 71- 7 631 or stop by the courts.

On June 3rd , the De nver , Colorado Police Department telet y ped the Mariemont Poli c e to advise that the suspect was in their custody Following an exchange of pertinent information , the Denver Police interviewed the suspect, who agreed to return to Ohio and face the charges filed by Spl. Wilson. The matter was taken before the Hamilton County Grand Jury and the suspect promptly indicted.
On the morning of June 15th , Spl. Michael Wilson and a member of the Hamilton County Sheriff's staff flew to Denver , Colorado to appear at an extradition hearing there, then return the suspect here for trial.
For their outstanding efforts leading to the identification and subsequently the arrest of this suspect , Specialist Wilson, and Lt. Mell were commended by the (' 1 ;p f_

We would like to ask you once again not to place trash cans or plastic bags at the curb - the men will pick them up from the side or rear of your house. Grass clippings , weeds, brush , and hedge trimmings should be placed in plastic bags or other containers and set along side of garbage containers.
It is important that you do not leave grass clippings (loose) at the curb. This, causes extra work for our Maintenance Department as the garbage collectors will not sweep or pick them up. Furthermore, many grass clippings would end up in our storm sewer system causing even greater problems.
We would also like to remind new residents that for your security, you may register with the Police Department at the Municipal Building when leaving town fo r a few days. The Police will pay extra attention to your house during such periods and also contact you in the event of an eme r gency.

ial, Mariemont Council, and the Kiwanis. It would have been extremely difficult to complete this project without their much appreciated help.
This year the two new additions are an infant swing, and a log cabin which was donated by the Kiwanis. The children of Mariemont will certainly enjoy a cabin built just for them.
The Tot-Lot is primarily for the use of children eight and under. The equipment has been designed for small children with durability and appearance in mind.
Many thanks go to the Mariemont Preschool Parents Association and especially to Vicki Schwartz for making this playground possible.
