A Message from the Superintendent

2025 EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING UPDATE

In Mariemont City Schools, our mission extends far beyond traditional academics. Guided by our Destination 2026 Strategic Plan, we are committed to providing students with authentic, real-world experiences that ignite curiosity, build confidence and deepen their sense of purpose as learners and community members.

That vision comes to life through our award-winning Warriors BEyond experiential learning program.

As we look toward the next strategic plan, we remain committed to evolving and expanding Warriors BEyond so that every student continues to find pathways that inspire them, challenge them and prepare them for whatever future they choose.

From kindergarten through high school, Warriors BEyond offers hundreds of opportunities for students to explore their interests, connect with professionals, collaborate with peers and stretch their learning in meaningful ways outside of the classroom. When students are given the chance to discover their passions and apply their learning in hands-on environments, they not only grow academically — they develop resilience, creativity and a lasting sense of belonging.

I am proud to lead a district that believes education should be an experience, not just a checklist. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of the Mariemont Experience. Together, we are ensuring our students don’t just learn about the world — they step into it with confidence.

Sincerely,

PARTNER WITH MARIEMONT CITY SCHOOLS Career Education

MCSD Career Advisory Board

We’re proud to introduce the Mariemont Career Advisory Board — a group of 14 community leaders representing a wide range of industries and professions. This council will help guide our work as we continue to bring students meaningful experiences and real-world exposure to what their future may look like.

Our goals include:

• Expanding partnerships with local businesses and organizations

• Providing authentic career and leadership experiences for students

• Connecting classroom learning with professional opportunities

• Offering feedback to strengthen our experiential education programs

HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

We’re always looking to connect our students with passionate professionals and community partners. If you’re willing to support student learning, please contact bsugerman@mariemontschools.org to let us know how you might be able to help!

OPPORTUNITIES INCLUDE:

• Experienceship Shadow – Host a high school student and allow them to learn alongside you as they explore a career of interest through real-world observation and conversation.

• Career Chat – Speak with students – typically within our school buildings – about your career path, your current role, and the lessons you’ve learned along the way.

• Mentor – Connect one-on-one with a student (in person or virtually) to offer advice and support during their career exploration journey.

• Organization/Business Tour – Open your doors to a group of 20–25 students for an on-site visit, where they can see your work up close, ask questions, and experience your workplace environment.

WHAT ARE YOU BUILDING?

The core of the Warriors BEyond program begins in elementary school, continues through junior high and caps off at the high school. Each program is purposefully structured in a way that builds upon a student’s prior Warriors BEyond experiences. In the elementary programs, students are introduced to experiential learning and the fun that can come with new interests and skills. At the junior high, the programs are designed to explore and grow these interests and curiosities. And in high school, Warriors BEyond is focused on programming to build skills and knowledge for the future.

WARRIORS ACROSS THE GLOBE

The International travel program for Mariemont High School has two upcoming trips for the summer of 2026. Registration is still open for current freshmen, sophomores and juniors – contact Brian Sugerman for more information.

Portugal & Spain

Geographically, culturally and linguistically linked, yet distinct in their traditions and histories, Spain and Portugal make fascinating neighbors. In the landmarks of Lisbon, Evora, and Algarve, Portugal’s personality comes into focus. In Spain, a wide range of influences are revealed, from the Andalusian cities of Seville and Granada to the Catalan capital of Barcelona.

WWII and the Western Front

Walking on the peaceful beaches of Normandy, it’s hard to imagine the violence and valor of June 6, 1944. But D-Day – and so many other crucial moments of World War II – come into focus when you set foot in war rooms and explore the battlefields and memorabilia that altered the course of history. From London to Paris to Berlin, these sites invite reflection on, and remembrance of, the Allied victory in Europe.

What are they saying?

“As a Warrior teacher and alumnus, I was incredibly impressed at the wide variety of career options available to our students! It is another example of what makes our community so fantastic.”

– Mike Hanley, MHS social studies teacher

“It was such a pleasure welcoming a Mariemont High School student to shadow our Oral-B team and get a glimpse into the world of marketing. Their curiosity and fresh perspective was inspiring, and we are always excited to help students explore their future career interests!”

– Jessica Stark, Procter & Gamble

What is your experience or overall opinion of the Experienceship program as part of Mariemont High School Intersession?

“I really enjoyed the Experienceship option because it allowed me to explore physical therapy and get an idea of what day-to-day life would be like if I chose to go down that path. I really enjoyed being able to interact with patients.” – Finley Herking, 11th grade

“Something I really liked about my Experienceship was the interactions I had with the people I see each day on TV. It was also super cool to see what goes on behind the scenes and during commercial breaks! This Experienceship helped me as a student because throughout the time spent at WLWT and WCPO, I was able to see how I may contribute in my future.”

– Charlotte Soller, 12th grade

“My biggest takeaway from my Experienceship was realizing just how many different avenues of marketing there are. My favorite part was being a contributor to the collaborative processes. I got to share my thoughts and ideas on brand and product placement, and I learned how much time and effort goes into each and every project, even if the product won’t release for another 5 years. This experience deepened my love and enthusiasm for marketing, and more specifically, inspired me to potentially pursue a career in brand management because it allows me to incorporate the sales, art, design and marketing aspects I’m passionate about.”

– Peyton Quiambao, 12th grade

Alumni Spotlight

Ryan Glassmeyer, Class of 2024

As a student at Mariemont High School, Ryan participated in Master Class, an opportunity for students to create their own curriculum for an elective credit. Master Class students decide what content they are interested in pursuing and design a class that is not traditionally offered at the high school. Below, you can read about Ryan’s Warriors BEyond experience and how it propelled his career after graduation.

What was your Master Class about and why did you choose it?

My Master Class was all about aviation. I’ve been into airplanes for as long as I can remember, so it was an easy choice. I used the time to complete my Private Pilot Ground School, covering everything from weather and navigation to flight rules. By the end, I passed my FAA written exam and was one step closer to earning my pilot’s license. It was really motivating to turn something I’d always dreamed about into real progress towards my career.

How did your Warriors BEyond experiences help you learn more about aviation?

Warriors BEyond gave me great opportunities to explore aviation outside the classroom. I talked with real pilots and even visited CVG to see what goes on behind the scenes at a major airport. Those experiences made everything I was studying feel real and got me even more excited to keep going in this field.

What are you doing now and what are your future plans?

I’m currently in college studying aviation and training to become a professional pilot. My goal is to keep moving through my flight training, become a flight instructor, and eventually fly for a major airline. I love being in the air, and every step brings me closer to that dream job in the cockpit.

What advice would you give to a student considering Master Class?

Pick something you’re genuinely interested in and go for it. The best part about Master Class is that it’s completely up to you – so take advantage of that. Even it it’s a big challenge, you’ll learn a lot about yourself and what you want to do next.
