Balisong Knife is Best-known for Its Versatility

The word balisong or butterfly originated from the Spanish word "balisong" meaning "bent dagger". The knives have their origins in the Philippines where they have been used in martial arts and fighting for centuries. They are identical to the Spanish "daga" knives that were used by the Moro people of Mindanao. The first balisong knife was invented by a Filipino farmer named Don Ramon Molina. He created a double-edged blade fashioned into a butterfly shape and attached it to two handles that were connected to one pivot point. This allowed him to have an easily concealed weapon while he worked in his field. Other Filipino farmers began reverse-engineering the design to improve upon its features. The two most notable were Manuel Valdes, a Filipino agricultural engineer, and Arturo Osmeña, a Filipino art professor. Both men worked to develop improved knives with excellent quality and better performance by incorporating new materials and techniques.

A Description of Balisong Knife The Balisong knife is a folding pocket knife that originated in the Philippines. It is also known as a fan knife, butterfly knife, or Batangas knife. The knife is typically made with two handles that counter-rotate around the tang of the blade, allowing the blade to be concealed within the handles. A Butterfly knife is a type of knife that consists of two handles that pivot around a blade. The blade is usually hidden inside the handles when the knife is closed. When opened, the blade is exposed and can be used for various purposes. The most common use for this knife is as a weapon, but it can also be used for tasks such as cutting rope or opening boxes.
