2. Architectural Design
2.1 Alter
Sydhavn’s in Aarhus contains a rich archive of architectural components that correspond to the industrial history of Aarhus. In its rapid transformation, the fate of these components might be very likely compromised. To cultivate a refective valorisation of what exists and its potential ‘to become other’, the project will focus on expanding Soyahuset’s premises with the addition of a new building. The new building will exercise the position of altering as assembly. Inspired in industrial elements, a set of given architectural components will be assembled ingeniously in order to create a large room for performing arts and other smaller support rooms. The semester will explore spatial systems that can be imagined from existing components with the intention to study forms of reuse that have concrete consequences for the design of spaces and are achieved through cunning decisions for structural logics.
As a new outpost for artistic events, the new building intends to alter not just the life of Soyahuset but the popular perception of Sydhavn as a place of either industry or new development. The new building will be located on the footprint of the existing storage warehouse.

2.2 Colonized landscape
The legacy of the colonization villages in the “Empty Spain”. A Master Plan for landscape, productive and housing intensifcation:
Proposal for the intervention in Bardenas, one of the colonization settlements belonging to the polynuclear settlement of Ejea de los Caballeros, with the aim of creating a new productive and residential landscape through a linear framework that is integrated into the existing village.
The expansion of these 84 homes generates a landscape that refects a connection with the productive nature through a fltering element, with the lattice structure as the central feature of the project.

2.4 Workspace landscape on the M-40
The course focuses on designing a workspace landscape along the M-40 highway, near the IFEMA fairgrounds in Madrid. The site consists of three plots next to the former Tomás Redondo paper mill, a transformed building that still retains its car ramps on the facade.
The project is based on critique and strategy, modern offce buildings in Madrid are often conceived as isolated objects, neglecting their relationship with the surroundings, there is also a hypocrisy regarding cars—they are essential but deliberately hidden, despite the fact that drivers immediately become pedestrians upon parking.
The project rethinks the conventional offce model, designing workspaces for a diverse range of users—corporate employees, freelancers, writers, designers, flmmakers, carpenters, and artists. The car will be integrated into the arrival experience, with a garage that doubles as an entrance lobby.

2.4 Sequences
Keeping the issue of habitation as the main theme, this project is developed throughout the course not as a linear process, but by incorporating a sequence of layers that tackle different concepts gradually added to an initial structure.
