My Graduate project at the School of Architecture, University of Patras. In collaboration with Stevi Meletsi.
Since 2008, Athens has been building its new identity around the economic crisis and the "Greek status" has been slowly detached from the glory and fame of the Parthenon. The city's modern identity is deeply heterogeneous and chaotic, constructing a narrative through the figures of nine main characters. Each of those characters maintains a specific space within our proposal, which has been designed based on the events, the images and the conceptions of Greek reality in crisis.
Characters and spaces are placed into the gigantic entity of a scaffolding interweaving with one another. Every aspect of the Athenian demeanor is reflected upon them; violence, destruction, resistance as well as apathy, hope and despair, creative urge, entertainment, spontaneity. All of them interact, co-exist and conflict while overall shaping a micro scale of the city within the city itself.
