HIGHLAND COMMUNITY CENTER

Community gathering space that meets the need of the surrounding neighborhood by providing a program that connects residents from all walks of life. Design to support a variety of uses, from traditional reading rooms to more active programs such as gardening and yoga lessons. A place to come for entertainment and outdoor gathering space in hopes of re-energizing the spirit of culture, learning and community.

AllOWING MIXING WITHOUT FORCING

This project brings students together by meeting their needs of developmental stage and allowing them to mix without forcing them. Some students tend to isolate themselves and it is difficult for them to create relationships as well as connect with others. My solution to encourage interaction is having the biggest meeting points between the buildings but also having some smaller nodes along the hallways. The mixing in this projects occurs in three different layers or scales, the smallest being the unit following the interior of the building and lastly the exterior of the building and site. In all scales, the mixing is always encouraged but never forced to allow students to choose to interact or to stay in privacy.

THE SQUARE ON 21ST

The incentive of this project is to increase green spaces to undeserved areas of Denver. With a three week deadline and budget, the city and County of Denver collaborated with CU Denver students to create Denver’s first pop-up park. Us students designed , fabricated and installed two entry gateways on the city block on 21st street. The parametric design contains twenty one ribs that rotate over a 30 degree axis and creates an optical illusion of shrinking tunnel because the outside square rotates at a different angle than the inside square. The public park will host concerts, festival , movie nights and provide quality outdoor space, and increase street-level activity between residents of downtown Denver

Section 604.6 - Flush Controls. Flush controls at toilets shall be hand operated and shall comply with 309. Flush controls shall be located on the open side of the water closet except in ambulatory accessible compartments complying with 604.8.2.

Section 604.7 Dispensers. Toilet paper dispensers shall comply with 309.4 and shall be 7" (180 mm) min. and 9" (230 mm) max. in front of the water closet measured to the centerline of the dispenser. 208 Parking Spaces. 208.1 General. Where parking spaces are provided, parking spaces shall be provided in accordance with 208. 208.2 Minimum Number.
