It is a thrill for me to have established my first boutique in the United States here in Beverly Hills, and a privilege to locate it within The Peninsula Beverly Hills –one of the most effortlessly elegant hotels in the world, and the perfect environment in which to present my jewellery to a whole new cohort of collectors.
My art has been represented by luxury department stores Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman at a range of locations across the United States since 2007, but recent strong growth in awareness of my designs has created an opportunity to expand the Margot McKinney retail presence in this wonderful country.
As well as being my favourite place to stay in Los Angeles over the many years I have been visiting this exciting city, The Peninsula has a philosophy around its guests which is very similar to my own approach to my collectors… making it a wonderfully synergistic fit, and the natural choice for locating my new boutique. The Peninsula believes that its core purpose is to curate exceptional and unique experiences for guests, a view that resonates
strongly with my own mission to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind jewellery that imbues the wearer with the confidence to make a stunning entrance and leave an unforgettable impression.
The store has been designed to echo the ambience of my flagship location in Brisbane, Australia – affectionately known as ‘The Green Door’. Inside, guests will enjoy a serene and cosseting space and experience highly personalised service while they explore a broad selection of my works – most of which have been inspired by the breathtaking natural wonders of my home country and showcase an array of gems including highly-coveted Australian South Sea pearls, beguiling Australian opals, and a host of exquisite stones such as diamonds, sapphires, tanzanites and more.

The remarkable thing about Margot is her closeness to the pearl farming process and her involvement in the harvesting of these rare gems. Her pearl journey started with a phone call from old friend Aji Ellies, the fifth-generation proprietor of Australia’s only independently-owned pearl farm located in north-east Arnhem Land at the northern tip of Australia.
He invited her to make the long trip to the farm’s remote location and to be part of the harvest, and this extraordinary experience had a profound effect on her. Ever since that time Margot visits Aji’s farm every year, an experience she regards as a great honor. She describes as a rare privilege the ability to present pearls that have come directly from the pristine waters of Arnhem Land to clients in the United States.
