GOD? Defined!**
IT is not idol, fairy, devil, human ancestor or any such imagined or imputed as Macro-Micro-Manager of Cosmos-Universe-Space-Time. SIMPLIFIED IT could be ALL FORCES of NATURE COMBINED impacting everything spread between nullity and infinity of TIME-SPACE morphing ceaselessly in long cycles of Yugas as philosophized from over 6000 years or so. It is Omnipotent (all-powerful), Omniscient (all-knowing), Omnipresent (present everywhere), Omni-Jyoti, Eternal, Just, and Merciful.
Here is précised note on God in dharma/religions: no single personal creator but an eternal, formless, allpervading reality (Brahman) manifesting in many forms. Some paths reject a creator altogether focusing on moksha viz liberation through self-realisation attainable vide jnana awareness, meditation. God can be Nirguna (without attributes, pure consciousness) or Saguna (with attributes, personal form like Vishnu, Shiva, Devi). Pilgrimages to places of reverent idols and worship was how Hinduism spread by polytheism in the ways people chose to connect with god through karma, artha, kama and Moksha. Generally, females are objectified for maternal role and sidelined. But Hinduism from its origins had deified (them for starting of evolution) goddesses: Brahmani, Vaishnavi, Maheswari, Ogress etc; Dakini is of Tibetan Budhism. Buddhism ambivalent on soul has no God, ultimate reality is Dharma -law of existenceenlightenment while latter Mahayana traditions personify celestial Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. In Jainism, there is no creator God; perfected souls (Siddhas) are revered as divine as they had attained liberation/moksha. Thirthankaras are supreme preachers of dharma having conquered samsara. Fasting to death (not criminal) sallekhana is practised. Bharata of Bharat Varsha was Tirthankara Rishabha’s son. In Sikhism, God (Waheguru) is one, formless, timeless, all-pervading, and yet personal known through grace and remembrance, worshipping Guru Grant Sahib, preserved in Golden Temple Amristar. Jhulelal is worshipped by Sindhis from Pakistan as a Hindu-Muslim common god for It’s uniting impacts. Judaism: One God (YHWH), covenantal relationship with the chosen people; law (Torah) and righteousness are central. Christianity: One God in three persons (Trinity: Father, Son, Holy Spirit); salvation through Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. Kruskal count of mathematical principle derives GOD from Biblical puzzle. Islam: One God (Allah), utterly singular (Tawhid); complete submission to His will is required, as revealed in the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad. Sadly internecine wars with sibling rivalries continue. Goal of Religion is Salvation – Being saved from sin, spiritual death, or divine judgment, and gaining eternal life with God (usually in heaven). Moksha – Liberation from the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth (samsara) and from all suffering, realising unity with the ultimate reality. Soul – The individual, immortal essence of a person, created by God; survives death and faces judgment or afterlife. Ātman -true self- pure, eternal consciousness beyond body and mind; in Hindu philosophy, it is identical with Brahman (universal reality) in Advaita Vedanta. While Tantra is physical, Bhakthi is emotional. Even if brought up well by families, after childhood and adolescence, Brahmachari and Grihasta phases, one seeks what life is all about, questioning everything in seeking, natural bias taking over as one accepts some findings. Realistically, `consciousness’ is the only one science-spirituality has come closer but science except mathematics well derived, failing to conclude anything from big bang. Quantum Mechanics, awaited!!
After performing all moral, social and familial duties, Hinduism extols Samnyasa: giving up everything, living in isolation to merge back with nature through meditation. Such souls may move around, as cited by Shri M, a muslim had turned a Hindu practitioner. However, fasting till end is fairer as begging and wandering monks meditating in Himalayas become burden on nature and society without serving any purpose at all.
**No god in Vedas, Upanishads, Advaitas**, Samkya, Mimamsas, Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Arya Samaj, Brahmo Samaj, Zoroastrianism, Christianity, Islam where it’s messenger, Hinduism Brahman a concept; Dasavatars evolution For believers: conditioned & programmed, Bhakthi yoga is prescribed before Raja Yoga, and after it too in Vishishtadvaita.

Namaskaram. As a mariner (ex Merchant Navy Captain) with chosen name SAGARANANDA efforts are to convey findings of research into spirituality to care, share and disseminate for greater common good of one and all. The challenge has been to simplify for ease of understanding of and by the lay and commoners at their trying junctures of doubt, after invariably brought up with fear, respect and love for god, drawn from beliefs and faiths instilled in them, till they are ready to introspect and seek on their own. May I request that compilations be please read slowly carefully with care to grasp before questioning to disagree! Please read one verse at a time, pause, grasp, reflect, question and agree/disagree before moving on to next one.
Old sages may have been good for their own times, we having to build on such strong foundations.

Poetry in English translated to Sanskrit -age ole language of oldest civilisations around- was chosen to simply as much as possible, as explanations in prose are easily available but require a lot of reading and listening to preachers to understand, ending up often in disagreements. Typically poetry simplifies essence subtly and is better and well explained by commentaries that have followed. In essence, existence of a human ‘created god’ is doubted with `consciousness’ condensing everything of energies around, science too getting closer to it slowly but steadily, with soul and karma readily anointed as essence of it all. Having reviewed this stupendous work of compilation of well considered analysis of essence of spirituality from historical accessible records over 3000yrs to draw apt simplified conclusions to facilitate easier grasping by commoners and lay, I am pleased to appreciate and comment. Life on earth seeded by comets-meteors, `Steady state’ timeless Universe posited by Dr Jayant Narlikar, Fuzzy Logic etc need be considered. Questions of Shaunaka, Swetaketu, Nachiketa must be followed for realisation.
Sagarananda a perfect name chosen by Capt Pullat Suryanarayanan having sailed in Merchant Navy for two decades, last as Captain, deserves to be commended on for his committed seeking for precise-concise conclusions.
Good to note that English notes were translated to Sanskrit -perfect language for such expressions- duly enabled by Sanskrit Teachers.

Science of reductionism, after late realisation about Earth, Solar system, Relativity etc and equal and opposite reactions (unlike Karma), buoyancy with eureka, is closer to consciousness after Hubble telescope imparted awareness of billions of galaxies. Q: Swami, it is good to love God, is it not? Then why not follow the path of love?
A: Who said you couldn't follow it ? You can do so. But when you talk of love, there is duality, is there not ? - the person who loves and the entity called God who is loved ? individual is not separate from God. Hence love means one has love towards one's own Self.
Q: That is why I am asking you whether God could be worshipped through the path of love.
A: That is exactly what I have been saying. Love itself is the actual form of God. If by saying, `I do not love this, I do not love that', you reject all things, that which remains is swarupa, that is the real form of the Self. That is pure bliss.
Call it pure bliss, God, atma, or what you will. That is devotion, that is realization and that is everything. If you thus reject everything, what remains is the Self alone. That is real love. One who knows the secret of that love finds the world itself full of universal love.
The experience of not forgetting consciousness alone is the state of devotion [bhakti] which is the relationship of unfading real love, because the real knowledge of Self, which shines as the undivided supreme bliss itself, surges up as the nature of love.
Only if one knows truth of love, which is the real nature of Self, will the strong entangled knot of life be untied. Only if one attains height of love will liberation be attained. Such is the heart of all religions.
The experience of Self is only love, which is seeing only love, hearing only love, feeling only love, tasting only love and smelling only love, which is bliss.

Having been brought to this world, for reasons unknown, with genes, time and place of birth etc launching our life; with family, friends, education etc taking us forward to teens and careers to settle down, it is perhaps at mid-life -with crisis or not- that we look back trying to project forward what it’s all about and come up with our own versions of probabilities based on other’s similar experiences, extra-inter-polating with their well informed practices, hopefully for our betterment of life, lest it end up in a mess or as unimaginable disaster with unforecastable end!

Time space yugas from nullity to infinity of universe-cosmos, from nebula to black holes though perplexing and well beyond our comprehensions, confounding confusion with metaphysics and quantum mechanics, with outdated data whizzing around and arriving gathered light-years late, haven’t enabled draw conclusions in human time scales.
As such, sages of yore to saints of times have precipitated god (its opposite devil and apposite of polytheism too) even if there ain’t one: omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient, to credit and or blame and pass the buck for all the goings on beyond our limited knowledge of ‘unknownsunknowables’, from mores, morals of good practices/intent precipitating belief-faith-religions that have been at odds with one another from their start, leading to internecine wars between siblings of Abhamaic religions projected to finis at armageddon-apocalypse! Politics and money the duo, of the trio driving the driven in power to manipulate at will, not for common good but!
Having surmised so much, what is prescriptive, is to lead life with purpose, schedule, focus and commitment for greater common good, sacrificing selfishness in the process when necessary for best use of time and resources for necessities and needs avoiding wastage, to help the poor, needy and suffering. The call is on haves to share with the have-nots to overcome their plight.
That nature’s bounty is to be preserved and not wasted, causing global warming and its impact is a new lesson that has to be respected and corrective measures applied. Shortened, it leads to opting for PURPOSEFUL LIFE within means.
