Marden CHC: England Hockey Masters O50s 2023

Welcome

On behalf of South East Hockey, I would like to welcome all the Over 50’s Masters Teams to the Garden of England.

While this is of course a competitive tournament, we hope that everybody enjoys the weekend and takes the opportunity not only to play against different opposition but also to socialise with hockey players from around the country

These events are a great way to enjoy some healthy competition while meeting up with old and new friends

South East Hockey is very grateful to Marden HC for organising the weekend’s event, and also to Debbie Garner for acting as the Tournament Director.

Finally, a special mention must go to the Umpiring team without whom this event, and competitive hockey, would not be able to take place.

I wish every participant and team good luck over the weekend and look forward to competing against you on the pitch and getting to know you after the games.

Here at Marden Russets HC we're delighted to be hosting this tournament and look forward to an exciting weekend of sport. These events don't organise themselves of course so a huge thank you to all our volunteers, often behind the scenes, who have made this possible And our ever-busy clubhouse team of course!

Thanks to South East Hockey for bringing the tournament to our corner of rural Kent. And to Debbie for her patient guidance!

Tournament Format Round Robin with matches of 20 minutes each way and a maximum of 5 minutes half time break

3 points for a WIN, 1 point for a DRAW and 0 points for a loss.

Teams may also have up to 3 team officials in the bench area, plus a qualified doctor.

Tournament Information

Catering

The clubhouse will be open from 0930 each day, serving breakfast items like bacon rolls, pastries and hot drinks. Freshly made sandwiches, fruit, sausages & chips, crisps, energy bars etc will also be available In order to speed things up at the tills a token system will be in operation for ALL FOOD ITEMS, TEA AND BARISTA COFFEE Tokens (£3 value) can be purchased in the main bar, and from sales points on the balcony and in the Tennis Shack (where there is also a 'QUICK STOP' station: instant coffee/tea @ £1). ALL COLD DRINKS will be cash/card via the bar tills. Pimms will also be available during the day

Saturday Night Social

A 'bottomless' barbecue, with salads, is planned for Saturday night, starting at the end of the final matches. If you have not pre-booked, tickets can be obtained directly from Sandra at the BBQ (£15pp). Everyone welcome, whether playing or not

First aid

First aid kits will be available on site and team managers will be briefed on their location. Ice will be available pitch side and there is a venue defibrillator.

Dogs

Well behaved dogs are welcome at the club, but must ways be on a lead Please be sure to pick up your dog's mess and dispose of it

There will be roving photographers over the course of the weekend, wearing 'HOST' lanyards. Feel free to ask for team photos etc. All will be uploaded at the end of the tournament and a link provided so everyone can view and download any images they li

Parking

Parking is plentiful at the club. Cars may be left overnight at owners' risk, with access from 0930 each morning.
