Architecture Thesis Project | Summer 2015 | Savannah College of Art and Design | Savannah, GA, USA
Monteverde Research Center for Biomimetic Building Technology:
The intent of this thesis is to propose a research facility dedicated to the study of Biomimicry, taking advantage of Costa Rica as one of the most biodiverse territories in the world; while at the same time employing biological principles, design strategies, systems, and functional, performative qualities regarding structure, energy, and environment, similar to those found in Nature and its organisms.
Due to its interdisciplinary nature, the project seeks to promote education and innovation through the collaboration of professionals from numerous fields – ranging from biology to engineering – focusing on the common goal of developing new architectural technologies and materials that will aid in the conception of new design methodologies and holistic models for a more sustainable world.
