WEEKLY BULLETIN Dear Parents and Carers, Firstly, thank you to all of you who joined us for the harvest service and tea on Friday afternoon. It was a very special event, and one which is always a highlight of our school year and the church calendar. The harvest donations looked incredible in church, and the funds raised will be going to Oxfam. In addition to this, we also raised a total of £90 at our Macmillan Coffee morning last week, and this is another fantastic charity to support. It was great to see so many of you in school again on Monday, for our first Community Lunch of the year. This time, it was nursery and reception children who had guests in school for lunch, and this is always something that the children really look forward to. The next one is for Years 1 and 2, and will take place on Tuesday 15th October – please note the change of date from Monday 14th, due to a trip taking place for Skylark Class. We have lots of other events advertised in this bulletin which you might like to attend over the coming weeks. We have our Parents’ Evenings, some Parent Workshops, a Parent Forum and our Open Afternoon. These are all great opportunities to find out more about what your children are doing in school, how you can support them, and to have your say about future developments! Mrs Deborah Sadler, Headteacher
Rest Easy Parent Workshop Emily Gearing, creator of the ‘Rest Easy’ method, has kindly offered to run a Parent Workshop to keep everyone informed about this approach which we have now adopted in school. Her workshop will be immediately after the Kinetic Letters workshop, on Monday 21st October at 10am. We hope that you will be able to join us to find out more. We will also have information available at our parents’ evenings.
Is anyone available to help with a project after school on Monday 7th October? Friends of Lower Heath are dismantling the old wooden structure in the forest school area, to clear the forest school ready for its development. If any parents can spare an hour and would be willing to lend a hand, it would be much appreciated. Many hands make light work!

Parent Workshops All of the classes in our school will be starting a new handwriting programme, called Kinetic Letters, over the next week. Staff have all completed training on this exciting new approach, which has helped many children across the country to make super progress in writing. The programme is about much more than making children write more neatly. It is about developing their writing fluency, stamina and speed. In doing so, this allows children to concentrate on the content of their writing, instead of the physical process. We would really like to share this new programme with parents, and to offer suggestions as to how parents can help their children at home. We will be running parent workshops on Monday 21st October at 9am, and repeated again at 4pm. I will also have information available during Parents’ Evenings, and the parent drop-in sessions next half term will allow you to see the programme in action in the classrooms. Please join one of the workshops if you can!
Parent Forum The next Parent Forum will take place on Wednesday 23rd October, 9:00-10:30am. This will coincide with the next Friends of Lower Heath coffee morning. We hope that many of you will be able to join us – it is a great way to offer your feedback about the school, and to put forward suggestions for its development. Your ideas would be very welcome!
Open Afternoon Wednesday 20th November 1:30-3:30pm Our annual Open Afternoon is fast approaching, and this is a great opportunity for prospective parents to visit our school and see us in action! Please spread the word to anyone who might be interested in bringing their child(ren) to Lower Heath CE Primary – we would like the opportunity to welcome them. Similarly, parents of our current pupils are very welcome to join us to see what each class is doing in their topic areas. A programme of events for the afternoon will be shared in the coming weeks, but remember to save the date!
