This is such an exciting journey for you and your family and we are grateful you’ve put your trust in us to bring your vision to life. In this booklet we’ll introduce you to our team (some you may have already met), and outline our building process from start to finish. Take your time to review this booklet and soak it up. We have often said we want to work with people who love what they do...and we’ve been lucky enough to have found them. Now, let us introduce you to the Marchand Homes team!
Jeff studied Entrepreneurship at Saint Mary’s University and then began his career in Real Estate where he followed in his Grandfather’s, Ray Marchand, footsteps. Throughout his real estate career, Jeff discovered his passion for land and residential development, and from there he launched Marchand Homes in 2016. Having the quickest growth story in the Nova Scotia industry, Marchand Homes has since become an industry leading home builder. One of the most important elements to Jeff is that we have a team at Marchand Homes that generates a fulfilling experience for the families we work with.
Growing up around the residential construction and real estate industries, Brad developed a love of land and the outdoors. Starting Marchand Homes with his father and brother was an opportunity to develop a business around something that Brad and the Marchand family are very passionate about. Though he lives with his family in Boston, Brad is very involved in Marchand Homes. When he’s not on the ice with the Boston Bruins or working on other business ventures, Brad is very engaged in planning the future of Marchand Homes, and adds insight on growth opportunities.
KEVIN MARCHAND OWNER, VP MARCHAND DEVELOPMENTSAs Vice President of Marchand Developments, Kevin is responsible for scouting out land for future development opportunities. He’s very talented at seeing a parcel of land, understanding its value, and how to design it effectively for future development. Partnering with his father, Kevin began his career 35 years ago. His passion for residential home construction and land development has resonated through his family in Marchand Homes. It is Kevin’s dream to see his family carry on the tradition of building beautiful quality homes that he and his dad began building decades ago.
Scott has 22 years of experience in the residential construction industry. He started his career working directly with clients in the house plan design and pricing stages. Today, Scott’s responsibilities are overseeing the day-to-day operations for Marchand Homes. He manages our entire team and collaborates with everyone to ensure maximal growth for MH while still working closely with clients. Scott’s favourite part of his role is the client interactions and the lasting relationships he’s built over the years.
Project Manager, Land Development, MDL
Trevor joined our Marchand Developments team as the lead Project Coordinator. With over 20 years of experience in land development, Trevor has become our lead on all multi-unit developments. He is respinsible for searching out opportunities for future developments, building our database of property assets and building and maintaining important relationships with HRM, building partnerships and other relationships within the industry.
Gerry is our O.G (original) Project Manager. He has set the bar pretty high from the start, and we’re very proud to say that our Project Management team has been mentored by the best! Gerry has over 30 years of experience in the industry and previously operated his own electrical company. He makes sure every detail during the building process is perfected like it’s his own home. Gerry hails from Cape Breton, so he’s got some pretty funny sayings that will keep you entertained throughout your building process.
Like Gerry and Brian, Nick’s role is to manage the construction process from lot walks with clients to foundations being poured; to closing day, and all the little details in between. The families that have worked with Nick love his commitment to creating a great experience throughout the building process. Some exciting news, Nick is a new Father to a beautiful baby girl, Blakely!
Peter joined Marchand Homes in 2020 but it feels like he’s been on the team forever - in a good way! Having grown up as one of Jeff’s best friends since elementary school, we knew he would be a wonderful addition to our team. As one of our Project Managers, Peter’s role focuses on the construction process from start to finish. He’ll make sure your home is completed to perfection and is 100% ready on closing day. Fun facthe’s also a certified scuba diver!
Ben is the guy you’ll connect with one year after closing day to talk about any items that need a little TLC. As a home goes through the seasons and is lived in, there is usually some settling that happens. Ben will be the one to meet with you and walk you through this process and get the job done to your satisfaction. Ben is also a proud new father to a bouncing baby boy named Fletcher!
Ryan has been with Marchand Homes for several years now and is a dedicated, hard worker. He’s always willing to assist anyone on the team whether it’s organizing leftover materials or helping the PM’s get ready for closing day; he is always ready to get the job done. You’ll likely see Ryan around the neighbourhoods throughout the building process so don’t be shy to give him a wave!
Sandy is the lady behind the scenes making sure everything is running smoothly. She gets our subtrades paid on time, and keeps our team in line! She’s also a very talented baker so our kitchen is often stocked with yummy treats she brings in for the team. If you see a treat grab it...it won’t be there for long! If you see Sandy congratulate her on becoming a new grammie to sweet little Blakely and Cameron.
You’ll likely meet Leigh if you’re in the office for a meeting. She’s always the first to pop her head out of her office to say “hello” and introduce herself. She’s the expert on all things applications and permits, which is one of the most important steps before we break ground. You might do a double take if Leigh and Lynn are in the office together because they are identical twins!
She may be the newest member of the Marchand Homes team but she’s been a part of the family for decades! Susie joined us to assist Sandy and Leigh in the office on a part time basis. Though she’s new to the position she’s worked in this industry for several years so she’s no stranger to real estate and new construction. Exciting news, Susie has two sweet grandsons named Mikey and Layne!
Miranda has been on the Marchand Homes team since it’s inception in 2016. With over 8 years of industry experience, she’s the expert on our team who creates all of the amazing plans we get to build. Miranda will walk you through your house plan and help you determine how to design your home based on your lifestyle and your family’s needs. 2020 was an exciting year for Miranda...she got married!
After meeting with Miranda, Jorelle will become your goto gal for everything to do with selections. Jorelle’s creative eye and attention to detail is perfect for this process when you begin finalizing your selection decisions. From your paint colours, to your siding, faucets, flooring, and everything in between, Jorelle will help you narrow down your favourite options to bring your dream home to life. Fun fact about Jorelle - she has a creative entreprenurial side to her - she is a talented knitter!
Raising four kids, teaching, and building a new home every few years made for a busy life, and Lynn became an expert with organization, design and detail. She has a passion for decorating and is a natural at it, so we are fortunate to have her decorate and stage our model homes. Whether it’s to decorate a new home, stage one for sale or simply a design consultation, Lynn is our talented decorator for all things style. Just take a look at our office and you’ll see what we mean! Oh...Lynn wants you to know that she’s the younger twin!
Katrina has an education in architectural design, a background in real estate and has a natural talent for interior design and styling. Having designed and decorated one of our award winning homes, we’re confident you’ll love Katrina’s styling & design suggestions as much as you’ll love getting to know her when she’s in town during the NHL off-season!
Melissa joined Marchand Homes in 2020 and is the second youngest of the Marchand family. She has over 7 years of marketing experience and loves creating content and storytelling through social media and marketing. Be sure to check out our instagram @MarchandHomes and our new website to see some of her amazing marketing and design at work. Bet you didn’t know she does all of this from the wild west in Calgary!
Brittany is married to Marchand Homes’ President Jeff, and together they have two young daughters, Winnie & Wilder. When Brit isn’t organizing awesome marketing campaigns like our annual Christmas Toy Drive or helping behind the scenes, you can usually find her at a local fitness studio getting her sweat on, or spending time with her daughters.

Being the youngest of the Marchand Family, Rebecca has learned a lot. From visiting construction sites at the young age of three, to shadowing her older brother Jeff in the real estate industry, Rebecca has made a name for herself as a multiple award winning realtor in her short career. She is a knowledgable, enthusiastic and hardworking real estate specialist who will help bring your new home dreams to fruition. Rebecca is the proud owner of two fur babies - Penny & Ziggy.
TEAM CHEERLEADERS
Our team wouldn’t be complete without the little ones. Sloane and Sawyer (Brad and Katrina’s children), Winnie and Wilder, (Jeff and Brittany’s children) are the future generation of Marchand Homes. When they stop by the office they bring much love and laughter into the room. They are always fun to have around, and here at Marchand Homes we believe in having fun while doing what we love.

Selecting a neighbourhood for your lifestyle is one of the most important decisions in this process. We’ll help educate you on the different neighbourhoods we build in so you can decide what would be best for you and your family!
This is where the fun begins! Whether you are selecting a home designed by our team, or creating a custom house plan, our Home + Design Specialists will bring your vision to life and you’ll be there to give input every step of the way.
Design is in the details and we’ll help you decide what details are going to make your space better for your day-to-day life. This is where you’ll select everything from your kitchen cabinets to paint colours to flooring. Basically everything from the windows to the walls....
Now it’s time to get down to business. You’ll be assigned a Project Manager on our team who will do a lot walk with you to determine where your home will sit on the lot, where your driveway will go, etc. Then we’ll break ground and get your home started. During this time you are welcome to connect with your Project Manager to schedule site visits to follow this process.
Your Project Manager will arrange all final inspections, and then arrange a final walk through with you and your family, ensuring everything is to perfection. Next step...handing over the keys!
The day has finally arrived! Locks will be changed and keys are officially handed over - you get possession of your beautiful new home!
So , you’ve decided you want to build a new home but you don’t know where to start. That’s where we come in! Your initial meeting with our team will be focused on determining where you want to live. There are a few different ways in which to build with Marchand Homes. The most common of these is when clients choose their preferred building lot in the desired neighbourhood in which we are currently developing. If you already own the land that you want to build on, that’s great too!
When coming to your first meeting it’s a good idea to have a rough plan of your wants and needs. Here are a few things to think about:
- Do you have children, or are you planning on expanding your family down the road?
- Will you want a pool in the future?
- Do you want a backyard walk-out?
- Would you prefer to be inner city, or to have more land?
- Does having space or privacy matter?
- Do you want to be accessible to amenities like grocery stores, hospitals, schools, etc.?
Two storey, split entry, bungalow? Let’s talk about your options
You’ve decided where you want to live - YAY! Now, what type of home do you want to build?
Two storey, split entry, bungalow? Do you already have your own custom house plan or will you be searching through the many plans on the Marchand Homes website? It is important to find a plan that meets your family’s needs and is best suited for your lot selection.
Once your lot and house plans have been decided upon, our Home Design Specialist, Miranda, will reach out to schedule your first meeting. She will walk you through the design of your home, share or suggest details that could improve the aesthetic or value of your home; as well as offer suggestions around functionality and comfort in the design layout. Miranda has designed and walked through hundreds of home plans so she is the perfect person to help you at this stage of the process!
STEP
Design is in the details - colours, materials and styles
Now that you’ve made some pretty big decisions, let’s get into the fun stuff...designing your home! Your next meeting will be with Brooke, our Designer at Marchand Homes. She’ll walk you through all of the selection decisions you’ll need to make. From the exterior siding and stonework, to shingles and paint, flooring, lighting and more, Brooke is going to be your go-to-gal for all things design related. She’s like the Project Manager but from a design perspective. Brooke is here as a resource for you as she’s designed many beautiful homes. Her main priority is making sure you love the selections you’re deciding upon so feel free to rely on her expertise.
You’ve determined your neighbourhood, chosen your lot and house plan, and picked your design selections. Congrats! Now the construction begins.
Here you’ll meet your Project Manager (Gerry, Nick, Brian or Peter) who will be managing your home throughout the building process. You’ll begin with a lot walk with the PM, our excavation team, and likely your agent to see where your house placement will be, and identify all trees you wish to keep. From here, we’ll break ground, get the foundation started and get moving through the building timeline which is outlined for you later in this booklet.
Each of our Project Managers are highly experienced and knowledgable, but most of all they care about creating a great experience for you and your family. So, if you want to pop by and check on your lot to see how things are moving along, or if you live out of the province and are hoping for some photos for updates, connect with your PM to organize a time to see it, as they can update you on any freshly laid tile, newly painted walls, etc..
The pre-closing walk through is exciting! It’s really the first time you get to see everything you’ve been planning come to life. After all the decisions, all the checklists, emails and phone calls, you now get to walk through this house one more time before closing day!
You’ll meet with your PM roughly 5-7 days in advance of closing to do this pre-closing walk through of the home, and this is when you can make sure everything is to your liking, as per the plans and selections with Brooke and Miranda. Your PM will walk you through things like septic information and HVAC details, etc.. This is the time where you will note anything that needs to be touched up or fixed for your final walk through on closing day.
We will have a team of cleaners go through your home from top to bottom. They’ll scrub the windows, doors, counters and floors, etc., to ensure your home is 100% ready for closing day!
Usually about 5-7 days prior to closing day, your Real Estate Agent will reach out to walk you through the closing day process.
On the morning of Closing Day you will meet with your Real Estate Agent and Project Manager at the home to do a final walk through. This is where you can confirm that all of the identified items from the pre-closing walk through have been addressed and corrected; ensuring everything meets your satisfaction (ie. paint, lighting not working, kitchen hardware installed, etc.).
After your final walk through is complete and you are satisfied with everything, your Project Manager will walk you through the Atlantic Home Warranty documents. These are documents you should keep in a safe place, as you may need to reference them in the future.
Once the funds have been transferred over, the keys will be handed to you for full ownership of your new home! Time to pop some bubbly - Congratulations!

Our experience with Marchand Homes was so wonderful. From start to finish, the entire team was so great to work with. Gerry was our Project Manager and was so professional and knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions in a timely manner. Miranda and Scott were fabulous to work with on the design side, and they were so helpful with every little detail. Thank you to the entire Marchand Homes team for bringing our forever home to life!
The amount of experience that the Marchand Homes team brings to the table was apparent throughout every stage of the build. Jeff and Gerry were so knowledgeable and helpful. Decisions that might otherwise have been daunting were made easy with their professional guidance. Building a new home while selling another home we owned in New York felt like an overwhelming task. I am very specific in what I like and wanted to be very involved in the design process. Miranda and Jeff were absolutely amazing to work with and Nick was our project manager. He was one of a kind and I cannot thank him enough for all of his hard work.
