GRAND HYATT BOGOTÁ- SUSTAINABILITY
Grand Hyatt Bogotá is committed to providing hotel services that include accommodations, spa, food, and beverages, all under the guiding principle of caring for people so they can be their best. This purpose informs every business decision—from how it treats its employees and engages with the local community to the selection of products and the respect for human rights. The hotel’s philosophy is rooted in enriching the communities in which it operates and preserving the planet for future generations.

In recognition of its commitment to sustainability and the environment, in 2023, Grand Hyatt Bogotá earned the LEED Gold Certification for Operations and Maintenance, a prestigious international standard that recognizes leadership in energy efficiency and sustainable design. This achievement highlights the hotel’s dedication to implementing sustainable practices across its facilities and daily operations. The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification evaluates key areas such as efficient energy and water management, indoor environmental quality, and the use of sustainable materials—demonstrating the hotel’s commitment to resource conservation and reducing environmental impact. The hotel’s goals for 2030 include an annual reduction of 5% in energy consumption and 4% in water usage.
With a strong focus on sustainability, the hotel continuously seeks to improve its processes and reduce its environmental footprint by implementing practices that minimize negative environmental impacts. It actively promotes environmental protection through the celebration of Colombia’s natural and cultural richness, while respecting and supporting local communities. Every team member plays a key role in protecting natural resources such as water and air and ensuring a healthy environment at work and at home.

Grand Hyatt Bogotá is committed to complying with all applicable legal provisions and ensures that this information is shared with employees, suppliers, and customers. Part of this responsibility involves communicating rights and duties related to sustainability and encouraging responsible, environmentally conscious behavior. In terms of legislation, the hotel adopts and complies with Colombian laws regarding the protection of natural and cultural heritage, such as Law 1185 of 2008 (General Culture Law), Law 397 of 1997 (Cultural Heritage and Culture Promotion Law), Law 2811 of 1974 (National Code of Renewable Natural Resources and Environmental Protection), among others that address the protection of endangered species and environmental conservation.
Furthermore, the hotel takes an active stance against and helps prevent the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents, child labor, and any form of discrimination. It works closely with the proper authorities and encourages guests to respect the identity and culture of employees, visitors, and local residents. Laws 679 of 2001 and 1336 of 2009, which sanction the sexual abuse and exploitation of minors in Colombia, are respected and promoted within the hotel’s protection policies.
Lastly, Grand Hyatt Bogotá promotes environmental responsibility among its guests and team members. It encourages simple yet impactful actions such as turning off taps properly, making use of natural light, and switching off electronics when not in use. The hotel also promotes recycling and the responsible use of resources. In this context, guests are encouraged to avoid the illegal trade of cultural heritage goods, refrain from harming the natural environment, and respect the conservation laws protecting Colombia’s flora and fauna.
