We have learned a lot, have gotten closer, and now operate under a common strong brand

We have dealt intensively with the “why” and have included the results for all employees and network partners in a compact booklet about our new positioning

We continued presenting our concept of Open Champion to the world with full conviction. And our conviction has shown that it pays to work in networks.

Change is closely related to communication. Through regular Team Talks and our Intranet maracon, we provided more transparency this year and exchange was promoted in the company.

Our company blog Michael’s Garage saw the light of day this year. We reinvented our YouTube channel with the “Marantec Hands On” explanation video and fully accelerated with our Instagram reels, in order to find young talent for us in combination with trade show appearances.

The Marantec demo van covered many kilometers within national borders and beyond and our advertising material has been significantly updated.

Overall, we can say: Company-wide, we have taken large steps in the right direction and are looking forward to many future ones. New paths require courage — and we have it!

Of course, there are many things we can do better in the future. This is why your ideas, input, and initiatives for 2023 are more important than ever. Let’s shape the future together. #together

A

Strong Presence under one Brand

Since April, our brand has a brand new look: Following the one-brand strategy, our logo was updated, the new use and customer-oriented claim “Engineered for you” was developed, and two websites were combined into one.

The combination of the brands was celebrated in Legden and Marienfeld with delicious cupcakes and presents for all employees.

It is wonderful seeing so many colleagues wearing our #together hoodies and using our #together backpacks. Let’s proudly show our new look!

Transformation, yes, no, maybe?

As entrepreneurs we must decide: Preserve what we have, optimize what we can, or redo what is necessary? Worldwide we are at the center of a turning point that is driven by keywords such as digitalization, purpose, new work, and large megatrends. But does that also apply to our company and our business models? For how long would everything be OK if we continue like we have done until now? We asked ourselves these elementary, basic questions.

The result: Many of our success factors are no longer relevant in a digital world, our skills are no longer appreciated, as communication follows other rules today. At the same time, new success values are coming into focus, some of which we already fulfill, but there are also others that we have not yet recognized as such.

We have created a new organizational form and new structures for this transformation: the Open Champion. In order to become an Open Champion, we need people who work in a self-determined and independent manner and who share their knowledge. And we also need people who bring their knowledge from the outside into our organization. This can only happen through unconditional transparency and openness.

These thoughts are not only on our minds, but is also the case for many medium-sized family businesses. Therefore our Open Champion approach has been met with great interest. We exchange information with many companies about how we are facing today’s challenges.

This year, Kerstin Hochmüller and Andreas Schiemann were represented by numerous respected media, including ZEIT, Handelsblatt and brand eins. Also at the SZ-economic summit of the Süddeutschen Zeitung they participated on stage and had the opportunity to speak with prominent figures from politics and business.

Change is teamwork

We are pursuing a clear objective with our Team Talks: We would like all of our employees to be informed — about new colleagues, our economic situation, as well as forward-looking projects and initiatives. Furthermore, we want to promote personal exchange between sites, departments and teams.

This year, a Team Talk took place on average every two months,

covering different focal points. However they all had a common topic: Change. Isn’t it fascinating how quickly things change across the board? Let’s always see change as an opportunity — and not something to be feared.

Our Intranet has become indispensable: We use it for interaction, documentation and for the exchange of knowledge.

At the beginning of the year, the IT and Marking Team introduced the Confluence expansion Linchpin. A perfect example of crossdepartment collaboration.

Since then, our new digital workplace is called Marantec Connect (in brief: maracon).

Thanks to Linchpin, many more functions are available to us that simplify the exchange of information and make work easier.

Next year, we would like to create solutions for employees working in production who do not have their own Intranet access to be able to communicate information and news to all colleagues faster.

Michael’s Garage

Marantec history is written here

Which garage is not opened using a hand transmitter, rather with the click of a mouse? Since the end of April 2022 the answer to this question is: Michael’s Garage.

In spring we started our company blog, whose name is attributed to the founder of Marantec, Michael Hörmann. Innovation is a priority in this “virtual

garage”. In addition to ideas and vision, the — very important — stories are based on the day-to-day operations of our group of companies.

Therefore you, our employees, are also an important component of our blog, as you know best what we have to talk about.

Our blog has now also become an important information channel — also for all German-speaking employees; we have seen this due to the extensive feedback.

Some articles provide a subject for discussion, but everything is merged together into the overall image that we want to present and further evolve.

Since April, more than 40 articles have already been published in the blog that were written by 16 colleagues from different areas and multiple sites. Up until now, Michael’s Garage has had around 13,000 hits

Next year we would like our blog to be more directed toward the outside and cater to our customers and partners in a more target-oriented manner.

Ideas for topics, criticism or suggestions are always welcome, and of course everyone can get involved as an author.

Let’s record our Marantec stories together and inspire others!

Social Media

How we are expanding our network

We have gotten more followers on Instagram and LinkedIn and expanded our brand awareness with our diversified content. We have presented employees, announced training courses, informed about new brand profiles, published job advertisements, and also shared photos from events. Thanks to everyone who helped us with this. So remember also next year: Always send us your photos and ideas for new contributions — we are counting on your support!

To make it easier for our customers to install our garage door openers and reduce queries in the Service department, this summer we filmed a Youtube explainer video

A special thanks goes to Volker from our Service department who did a great job in front of the camera!

224,000 times — wow! That is the number of times our Instagram reel was viewed. With a total of twelve entertaining reels (short videos), we promoted an apprenticeship in the Marantec Group. The stars were the current Marantec apprentices in Marienfeld and Legden.

New talent

Our personnel marketing

To make applicant management easier, our colleagues in the Personnel department have introduced Softgarden in spring. They can use this software to create and publish job advertisements and process applications easily and clearly.

In June, a photoshoot took place for personnel recruitment. In the process, many attractive, authentic photos of employees were taken. Thanks for your participation!

How do we find tomorrow’s apprentices?

We dealt intensively with this question this year and tried out many options — for example a printed advertisement in a regional career guidance magazine as well as videos on Instagram.

In November, Marantec Legden participated in “Training night” in Borken. At this evening, we informed many interested students and their parents about the training opportunities at our company group.

Many thanks to all colleagues who supported us at these recruiting events.

This year, Marantec was a guest at some job fairs , such as the “Azubi-Campus” (apprentice campus) in Legden, “Azubi Speeddating” (apprentice speed dating) at the IHK in Gütersloh and at the trade show “Ihre Stammelf für die Zukunft” (Your core team for the future) at the SchücoArena in Bielefeld.

On the road again

Our Marantec demo van

From the fairs in Bavaria to the FOBS fence construction champion in Lohmar as well as the job fair in the Schüco Arena in Bielefeld: Our demo van, a converted VW Crafter, got around a lot also this year.

During our visits, customers and other interested parties learned more about the options we are offering them: Which operator is suitable for which door? How much space is there in the control or in the cabinet housing for other accessories?

Not only our gate operators, but also a demo parking barrier are installed in our demo van. Many of our customers do not even know that we not only offer door operators, but also solutions for smart parking management

Our advertising material appears with a brilliant new look and jointly under the Marantec brand. In this way, we will surely win over the hearts of our customers. When selecting suppliers, we have placed

great importance on sustainability. For example, our pens are biodegradable and correspondingly certified by TÜV.
