Al satwa site located southwest to bur dubai and adjacent to sheikh zayed Rd.

Site Typology:plain,very soft sand Size: Site total Area 2Km2 population 30,1471.

Project Thesis due to the potential of Satwa’s location (bordered by jumeirah and bur dubai and close to sheikh zayed Rd.close to key areas of Dubai. nowadays satwa dwellings becoming overpacked more than it could handle in each apartment! causeing illegal issuse Satwa deserve a renovation taking inconsideration it’s spirit and classification of the working class with a mixed cultural enviroment.

project purpose description This project is a revival of old SATWA which is known for its high-density retail outlets and privet residential dwelling by keeping its properties and enhance walkability,permeability,variety,legability,Robustness,visual appropriateness and richness.

This housing project requires a design for a residential plot in jumeirah village circle (JVC) to be developed

the goal was to design a residential + Mid risebuildings + townhouses

This housing project consists of four low to medium-rise buildings, My proposal contian Two mixed use Buildings and two plots of town houses with outdoor facilities which is located at the entrance of town houses .

CONCEPT

This design is inspired by Andalusian Marrakech style that embraced all water and greenery features focused on social aspect between neighbours from walking scenes to relaxing seating places.

1-this side falling water help cool the hot air coming in wind tower Mechanism water pumped through a water turbine placed at the bottom then pressure through pipes upwards to finally reach the Top horizontal hinge roller to create water fall, then back again to repeats this cycle ..

2-the other side works with the dynamic of natural wind or breeze passes through the louvers to go inside the wind tower void all the way down to help ventilate the indoor Atrium. result:The indoor Temperature drops between 2-5 degree from the outdoor temperature in summer/winter.

National Libraries is considered one of the country Landmarks that is officially representative to the belonging country . libraries educate individuals and foster thoughful communities.

They are essential components of communities—worth fighting for and worth funding, It holds all the original documents ,facts and unpublished papers of the region.

TIME LINE OF LIBRARIES

National Libraries:

Since the first National library was established in 1981-1988, National Library has been responsible for the collection, preservation and display of ancient Arab and Islamic manuscripts and it currently has around 4,000 manuscripts, covering a variety of topics from literature and religion to science and arts.

National libraries aim is to uphold and distribute knowledge about the UAE’s history and culture along with illustrate examples of the development of the century .

Sadly Official National libraries in UAE are limited and doesn’t have a full representaFon of what UAE has( or are nowadays) offer ;such sharjah Public Library, National libraries; al Nahyan library in Abu Dhabi and The New library in Zayed’s university campus which I studied previously ,….

All libraries collaborate on one cultural Education porpuses: -To promote and encourage local publishaFons and translaFng the world’s major works.

-Pomoting talented Emariti writers and research by Publishing thier boks and academic work.

National library was established in by government of country to serve as the preeminent repository of information for that country.

• National libraries are often considered an essential part of education and literate population .

• All public library serve the general public’s information needs.

• Libraries began to form by the individual efforts to collect writings ,archive them , that was first appeared in sumer empire 2600BC ,the clay tables as script …then papyrus of Ancient egypt.. libraries was established with the born of any empire.

Project description: National library in a park theme- natural environment representing UAE heritage by displaying Hand craft, Local Arts work and historical pieces .

• Aim: 1.To create recreation spaces &add social life (Active movement) to such place by making it amusement space .

2.Encourage people to read especially youth generation .

Sustainability: Using natural resources avalible Taking advantage of daylight and solar energy for elctricty and ventilation purposes .

Building should be Energy Efficient on itself ,by Minimizing the use of artificial light and take advantage of the Natural Daylight to lit the common area of public Zones Since we live in a hot climate with humidity which increase to100% ; Air-condition is a necessary in such climate to keep books in good condition and to human comfort So the challenge is to how to Use it and what kind of system to apply to save energy .

There is no Official national library yet in UAE ,only few small libraries that has the name of national library

The country needed a Archives to record and document the important achievements and events happening so the need of national libraries occur to carve its history This history has been documented to be taught in schools for generations.

in each particular state such as zayed national library in zayed’s university Abu Dhabi.

And most libraries lack in preserving the concept of national library the way it should.

Only 20% of UAE’s citizens visit libraries yearly UAE declares 2016 as year of Reading Sheikh Mohamed bin rashid launched the Arab Reading challenge competition for children to create a generation of book lovers and consolidate the UAE’s position as a global capital for culture and knowledge.

Nowadays National libraries Lack of not being sufficient ; -Most good libraries in UAE are not in a good conditon compareing to the fast growing country we live in -The number of libraries need to increase due to the big distance from one another e.g libraries in US should be no more than a mile an half far apart.

-thirdly Library timmings must be flexible to people who work all day to allow them to get the chance to go library .

Since we live in a multi culture country so a naFonal library has to contain and respect the diversity of nationalities that live on this land, and try to relate to other nationalities . offering Services like these will help all community members recognize the depth of diversity that exists in their communites.
