Education gives every child the skills, confidence, and resilience to thrive, even in uncertain times. This truth is at the heart of Maple Bear’s growth.

Families around the world continue to choose Maple Bear because they see in us not just a school, but a promise: high-quality, bilingual Canadian education that prepares students for life in their own communities and as global citizens.

With every school we open, we deepen our global community and broaden opportunities for children everywhere. Today, more than 69,000 students in over 35 countries are part of the Maple Bear family, living proof that the demand for excellent education transcends borders and cultures. Each addition to our network strengthens our ability to connect families, inspire students, and shape the next generation of global citizens.

The future may bring challenges we cannot yet predict, but Maple Bear’s dedication remains steadfast.

Education is the constant that empowers children, strengthens families, and builds communities that endure. And we will continue to grow, guided by the belief that placing children at the centre is the most powerful investment we can make, because every student carries within them the potential to shape a brighter tomorrow.

I hope you will find that this edition of our global magazine showcases the many ways Maple Bear continues to expand its reach and uphold its promise of quality education worldwide.

Together in education,

Maple Bear Community,

As we continue to grow and strengthen the Maple Bear community across the region, I am proud to share some exciting milestones that mark our collective progress and commitment to excellence in Canadian bilingual education.

This school year, we are rolling out our new Maple Bear curriculum. It has been developed to reflect the strengths of the Canadian educational system and is supported by an innovative learning ecosystem that enriches the academic journey for Maple Bear students worldwide, called MyMapleBear.

MyMapleBear combines academic resources, enriched learning materials, innovative teaching methods, and digital tools accessible through our platform. It drives improved academic performance and provides an enjoyable learning experience for students, teachers, and parents.

Another exciting development is our preparation to welcome our first high school students in Central & Eastern Europe next year. Our students will have the opportunity to begin an inspiring journey toward earning a dual high school diploma: their local diploma and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). Built on Canada’s globally respected education system and recognized by top universities worldwide, the OSSD offers a smarter alternative to other respected international diplomas. I invite you to read our section about it in this magazine to learn more.

Thank you, to our educators, parents, and partners for being part of this journey. The future is bright for Maple Bear, and I look forward to sharing more success with you in the months ahead.

Maple Bear continues to expand rapidly in the region, we are growing our team with dedicated professionals who share our vision and values.

Students First: A Note from the CAO

At Maple Bear Global Schools, we believe education is more than classroom learning - it is about shaping confident, curious, and compassionate global citizens. Our academic team is dedicated to ensuring that every child in every Maple Bear school experiences learning that is consistent, innovative, and rooted in the best of Canadian methodology. As we celebrate milestones and prepare for the future, our commitment to quality remains at the heart of everything we do.

For more than 20 years, the Maple Bear Quality Assurance (MBQA) framework has guided how we uphold high standards of teaching and learning across our schools. In 2025, we introduced the Global Excellence (GLEX) Program, a new framework designed to ensure the same level of rigour in school operations, facilities, and administration.

Together, they reinforce our promise: every Maple Bear student, anywhere in the world, receives an exceptional education.

We are equally proud of the ways our programs extend beyond the classroom.

MyMapleBear resources and Global Connections projects carry the Maple Bear experience across ages and borders. Our summer camps and high school pathways open doors to international opportunities while we stay true to our Canadian roots.

Looking ahead, our guiding principle remains simple: to put students first. When children have a strong foundation, when teachers are supported, and when schools are anchored in quality, the results are transformative. As you read through this edition, you’ll see how our focus on quality and innovation creates meaningful opportunities for students in every corner of our global network.

Warm regards,

WHERE LEARNING BEGINS

A journey through the Maple Bear Early Learning Years

The morning sun streams through the windows of Maple Bear Foz in Portugal as fourteen-month-old Sofia takes her wobbly first steps into the Bear Care classroom. Her tiny fingers grip the edge of a low exploration table, eyes wide as she studies the colourful sensory materials arranged just for her. What she doesn’t know yet is that she’s beginning a remarkable educational journey rooted in the best of Canadian early childhood pedagogy - one that will nurture her curiosity and set the foundation for lifelong learning.

For Sofia’s parents, enrolling her at Maple Bear marks the start of a learning journey that will carry her from the tender early days of Bear Care to the curiosity-filled years of preschool, and onward to a future built on the Canadian approach to education: play-based, inquiry-driven, bilingual, and grounded in the belief that children learn best when they feel safe, loved and challenged.

Bear Care: A Gentle Start with Big Impact

Bear Care is Maple Bear’s infant and toddler program, designed for children from 6 weeks to 2 years old. While it may look like simple play, every moment is carefully planned to nurture social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth.

In Foz, Sofia’s days are filled with music, movement, finger painting, and quiet storytime. Teachers greet her in both English and her home language, sing songs that encourage speech development, and provide sensory experiences that stimulate her curiosity.

What Sofia experiences is mirrored in classrooms worldwide - in India’s Maple Bear Indirapuram, toddlers explore “texture

stations” filled with fabrics, sand, and water, discovering through their senses while supporting brain development.

The Canadian approach prioritizes secure and positive relationships between caregivers and children. Consistent routines, warm interactions, and gentle transitions help babies and toddlers feel safe - the essential foundation for future learning. Bilingual exposure begins naturally through songs, stories, and conversation. By age three, Sofia understands simple instructions in two languages, can express her needs clearly, and has the confidence to try new things.

Preschool: Where Curiosity Takes the Lead

Building on the secure relationships and early skills developed in Bear Care, Sofia enters preschool already familiar with the routines, teachers, and joy of learning through play. This strong foundation allows her to take on new challenges while expanding her horizons through richer, more complex learning experiences that spark curiosity and independence.

Sofia’s class plants herbs for a cooking project - counting seeds, labelling plants, and observing how sunlight affects growth. Similar projects happen globally: in São Paulo, Brazil, preschoolers plant gardens, exploring mathematics, literacy, and science inquiry simultaneously. The details may vary, but the hallmarks remain constant - hands-on, collaborative, and deeply engaging learning that reflects the Canadian approach.

Preschool deepens bilingual learning with instruction continuing in both languages. This strengthens communication skills while developing cognitive flexibility and cultural awareness. Sofia, now a confident communicator, switches easily between languagessometimes asking questions in one and explaining ideas in the other.

Today, Sofia greets new classmates with a smile, shows them how to tend the garden, listens carefully during stories, and contributes her own ideas - a clear reflection of the confidence and curiosity she’s developed in preschool.

When we nurture curiosity from the very first day, we set the stage for a lifetime of joyful learning.

From First Steps to School Success

By the time children leave preschool, they’re not only ready for kindergarten - they’re eager for it. They have the confidence to speak up, the curiosity to keep exploring, and the skills to work well with others.

For Sofia, the journey from Bear Care to preschool has been more than a change in age and ability - it has laid the foundation for a lifetime of learning built on play, connection, and discovery. Each day, she enters the classroom ready to explore, contribute, and grow.

At Maple Bear, the first steps into education should be joyful ones. Whether your child is taking their first wobbly steps in Bear Care or confidently running into preschool, they are beginning a journey shaped by care, curiosity, and the Canadian commitment to quality education.

Because big dreams start small - and we’re here for every step.

The Canadian Advantage, Anywhere in the World

Maple Bear schools deliver a globally respected Canadian curriculum adapted to local contexts, ensuring children receive education that balances academic excellence with emotional well-being. From Dubai to Nairobi, from Guatemala City to Seoul, the same principles apply:

• Play is the primary vehicle for learning in early childhood.

• Bilingual immersion to develop communication skills and cultural competence.

• Inquiry-based learning that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving.

• A focus on the whole child - nurturing emotional resilience, empathy, and creativity alongside academic skills.

• An emphasis on global citizenship helps children appreciate diversity, respect others, and understand their role in a connected world.

In Nairobi, Kenya, preschoolers run a “pretend grocery store” to learn about money, healthy eating, and community roles. In Guatemala City, building block towers spark conversations about balance and cause-and-effect. In Seoul, daily circle time includes greetings and songs in both English and Korean, fostering connection and belonging.

READY TO SOAR!

An Interview with Justine O’Grady on Elementary Readiness

Q: How does Maple Bear’s approach prepare children differently from traditional preschools?

comprehension, and develop a love of language that underpins strong reading.

Q: Which social skills help children thrive in elementary school?

“Is my child really ready for elementary school?” - It’s the question on every parent’s mind as their preschooler approaches this exciting milestone.

We sat down with Justine O’Grady, Maple Bear’s Director of Curriculum, to get expert insights on navigating this important transition and how Maple Bear’s approach sets children up for success from the very start.

Q: Parents often worry their child isn’t “ready enough” for elementary school. How do you define readiness?

A: Readiness is about more than knowing letters and numbers - it’s about nurturing the whole child. Social-emotional skills, such as sharing and managing emotions, communication skills, like expressing ideas, and self-help skills that build independence, are all key. At Maple Bear, our preschool program develops these foundations step by step through play, inquiry, and exploration. By the time children enter elementary, they don’t just “know” things - they feel confident and capable, ready to thrive in both learning and relationships.

A: Our Canadian approach focuses on building children’s confidence and identity as learners. We nurture curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving through inquiry and play. Children are encouraged to ask questions, test ideas, and reflect, helping them see themselves as active participants in learning.

Through meaningful, hands-on explorations, children learn to think critically, work collaboratively, and approach challenges with confidence. These foundations ensure they don’t just enter elementary “ready” - they step forward as capable, resilient learners prepared for life.

Q: Should parents worry if their child isn’t reading yet?

A: Not at all - reading readiness looks different for every child. Early literacy is not a single milestone but a progression of skills and understandings that unfold at different times for different learners. Some children may be able to sound out words early but lack comprehension of what those words mean. Others may deeply understand complex stories, themes, or characters, but are not yet ready to connect letters with sounds. Both are valid pathways in the journey toward becoming readers.

At Maple Bear, readiness grows from language-rich experiences. Through storytelling, dramatic play, songs, and conversations, children expand vocabulary, build

A: One important social skill is the ability of children to vocalize concerns. Children who can ask for help when they’re confused, who can share their ideas, or who can express their needs clearly feel more confident and engaged in the classroom. Equally important is the development of cooperation skills - being able to share materials, take turns, and work together on group tasks. Another cornerstone is emotional regulation: the ability for children to manage disappointment and keep trying after mistakes. Together, these skills help children form positive relationships with teachers and peers, build resilience, and create a sense of happiness at school that supports their academic growth.

Q: How does learning two languages help children prepare for elementary school?

A: Bilingualism is a foundation for strong learning skills. Children who use more than one language strengthen focus, memory, and adaptability. These skills support problem-solving, help them see challenges from different perspectives, and make it easier to adjust to new situations. In the classroom, this flexibility builds confidence and sets the stage for long-term success.

Q: How can parents help their child get ready for elementary school?

A: Encourage independence in everyday routines. Let children pack their backpack,

choose clothes, or solve small problems-these moments build confidence and responsibility.

Reading together daily is also powerful. Share stories, talk about pictures, and enjoy the time. This builds vocabulary, imagination, and a love of learning. Most importantly, trust your child’s unique pace of development. It’s natural for children to grow in different ways and at various times. By celebrating your child’s progress, you’re helping them step into school

with confidence, curiosity, and a positive attitude toward learning.

Q: Do you have any final thoughts for parents who are feeling worried?

A: Starting elementary school is a big milestone, and it’s normal for children and parents to feel anxious. What matters most is not whether a child can already read or add, but whether they feel safe, supported, and excited about learning. Academic skills will come

in time, but a child who feels secure and curious is already on the right path.

At Maple Bear, we put these qualities at the centre of everything we do. Through caring relationships, play, and rich language experiences, children build confidence and resilience. When parents and teachers work together to nurture belonging and joy, children don’t just adjust to schoolthey flourish, developing a lifelong love of learning.

Academic skills develop over time, but what matters most is that children feel safe, curious, and confident as they begin their learning journey. When those foundations are in place, children don’t just enter school ready-they step forward with the resilience and joy that fuel lifelong learning.

INTRODUCING THE GLOBAL CONNECTIONS PROGRAM

At Maple Bear, we believe that competencies like ecological awareness, empathy, and collaboration are just as vital as literacy and numeracy. Preparing students for the future means helping them understand not only the world’s challenges but also their own inner capacities to meet them.

To bring this vision to life, our academic team designed the Global Connections Program (GCP)-an innovative, curriculum-based initiative that integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the Inner Development Goals (IDGs).

By linking students from Maple Bear schools across the globe, the program fosters cross-cultural collaboration, inquiry-driven learning, and real-world problem-solving-helping children grow as learners, leaders, and global citizens.

Building Empathy, Leadership and Cultural Competence

The GCP is built on four simple but powerful pillars that guide every collaboration:

Students explore worldwide issues, from environmental sustainability to cultural heritage, often framed by the UN’s SDGs. Think Global

Through Inner Development

Goals, students strengthen critical thinking, collaboration, and leadership.

Each global theme is grounded in local action, helping children apply new knowledge to their own communities.

Act Local

Maple Bear schools in different countries partner directly, enabling students to exchange ideas, share perspectives, and see real impact.

Together, these pillars provide a clear framework for helping students connect global challenges with local action.

What It Looks Like in Action

The Global Connections Program brings real-world issues into the hands of even the youngest students. From protecting pollinators to exploring life under water, Maple Bear children collaborate across borders to understand challenges-and imagine how they can help.

Why Save The Bees?

Junior Kindergarten students from Maple Bear Sinop (Brazil) and Maple Bear Katowice (Poland) teamed up for a three-week project asking, “How can we save the bees?”

Guided by SDG 15 (Life on Land) and the IDG Openness and Learning Mindset, the children explored why bees matter, what they need to survive, and how humans can help.

Through storytelling, role-play, games, and poster-making, the classes discovered simple actions like planting wildflowers. A highlight was the live “Bee Talk” sessions, where children shared fun bee facts and met their peers from across the globe-making sustainability and global connection both engaging and meaningful.

Protecting Life Below Water

Senior Kindergarten students across Maple Bear schools in Czechia, Poland, and Bulgaria collaborated on projects inspired by SDG 14 (Life Below Water) and the IDG of Empathy and Compassion

From exploring how plastic harms sea animals to practicing the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, recycle), each class found hands-on ways to connect big ideas to young learners. Activities included cleaning a make-believe water habitat, experimenting with jars of “polluted” water, and reflecting on emotions connected to caring for the earth.

These shared experiences not only deepened children’s understanding of environmental stewardship but also showed them how empathy and small actions can protect our planet’s oceans and waterways.

Skills That Last a Lifetime

The Global Connections Program is more than a cultural knowledge exchangeit’s a training ground for future-ready skills. Students learn to:

• Communicate across cultures and languages, often using English as the common language

• Lead and collaborate on shared projects, learning how to organize, listen and contribute to a collective outcome.

• Develop sustainable mindsets, by exploring global challenges like clean water and waste reduction - and applying those ideas to their own communities.

• Solve problems creatively, working with diverse perspectives to find innovative solutions.

• Build cultural empathy and awareness that helps them see issues from multiple sides.

Preparing Students for a Global Future

The Global Connections Program seamlessly extends Maple Bear’s

curriculum and pedagogy through realworld collaboration, cultural exchange, and inquiry-based projects. Students apply what they’ve learned in meaningful ways while remaining grounded in Maple Bear’s proven educational approach.

As Nancy Steinhauer, Global Connections Program Lead, explains:

“ Over 50 Maple Bear schools across Brazil, Mexico, Poland, Vietnam, India, and beyond have already joined. Teachers tell us they are inspired by giving their students the chance to identify problems, collaborate on solutions, and take action. Global Connections empowers Maple Bear children to become changemakers and leaders in a world that needs their help-while reinforcing the 21st-century skills of communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.”

Our preschool students became aware of the importance of protecting nature and were eager to help keep their environment clean and healthy! The project was a huge success - it was relevant, important and motivating! So glad for the opportunity to participate in this project.

EXPANDING OPPORTUNITIES FOR MAPLE BEAR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

What is Maple Bear International School Toronto?

Selecting the right high school diploma is one of the most important decisions in shaping a student’s future. In many parts of the world, traditional diplomas and exam-heavy systems can limit opportunities by narrowing academic choices. These systems often lock students into inflexible tracks early on or create additional hurdles when applying for universities overseas.

Programs such as the IB, AP or A-Levels are highly regarded internationally; however, they often come with significant challenges, including high tuition costs, intense workloads, and limited accessibility depending on the school or region.

WHY OSSD:

In this context, the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) stands out as a forward-thinking and student-centered alternative. Rooted in Canada’s world-renowned education system, the OSSD emphasizes continuous assessment, flexibility, and balanced academic rigor rather than relying solely on high-stakes final exams. This approach allows students to demonstrate their abilities in a broader and more meaningful way. The OSSD equips learners with a globally recognized qualification that aligns with modern educational priorities - critical thinking, creativity, communication skills, and digital competence.

WHY CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT MATTERS:

Continuous assessment provides a more accurate and fair picture of a student’s abilities than a single final exam. By evaluating students regularly through projects, quizzes, and class activities, it captures real understanding rather

than one day’s performance under pressure. This approach reduces exam-related stress, encourages consistent learning habits, and accommodates different learning styles. It also allows teachers to identify challenges early and offer timely support. Continuous assessment promotes deeper learning and better prepares students for real-world expectations.

SUCCESS WITHOUT TEARS: WHY OSSD MATTERS:

A balanced pathway where Maple Bear students achieve strong academic results through the OSSD while staying confident, healthy, and happy - giving both students and parents a smooth, supportive journey that strengthens learning and overall well-being.

The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) is one of the world’s most respected high-school qualifications, giving students direct access to top universities in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Europe, Australia, and Asia. Unlike exam-only systems, the OSSD evaluates students through real academic skills - research, presentations, projects, communication, and critical thinkingmaking graduates exceptionally well-prepared

THE EDUCATION OF THE FUTURE IS NOT JUST ABOUT TEACHING WHAT WE KNOW, BUT ABOUT PREPARING STUDENTS TO SOLVE PROBLEMS WE CAN'T YET IMAGINE

Education is undergoing an unprecedented revolution.

The future is already here, and methodologies, technology, and the expectations of the job market are redefining how we teach our children. In this context, it is vital for families to choose an educational model that prepares their children not just for tomorrow, but for a world that is changing at a dizzying pace.

Personalized learning is essential in this shift, allowing each child to learn at their own pace and according to their interests, fostering creativity and autonomy. The integration of innovative technologies makes learning more dynamic and accessible, equipping students for the challenges of a digital future.

However, technical knowledge alone is not enough. It is crucial for children to develop soft skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and emotional intelligence, which will enable them to face future challenges with confidence and

empathy.

In a constantly evolving world, continuous learning is key. Preparing children to become lifelong learners will make them flexible, resilient, and innovative qualities that are essential to succeed in any field.

Today, education must be global, providing equal opportunities for all. It is essential to prepare them to become responsible citizens, aware of the major global challenges such as climate change and social inequality.

In this sense, Maple Bear stands at the forefront of this educational transformation. With a comprehensive educational approach that combines innovation, collaborative learning, and personal development, we are shaping not only brilliant minds but also human beings and change-makers - responsible and committed to the world - opening the doors to a future full of opportunities.

INSIDE MAPLE BEAR’S EVOLVING CURRICULUM

At Maple Bear Global Schools (MBGS), the curriculum is never static. It is a living, breathing frameworkconstantly refined to ensure children benefit from the very best practices in education.

The MBGS curriculum is proprietary, outcome-based, and globally benchmarked, built on a proven Canadian pedagogy that has been successful across the world and ensures our students thrive academically, socially, and globally.

Regularly reviewed and updated to reflect the latest developments, it is guided by a Canadian faculty of experienced teachers and administrators who also develop training materials, methodologies, and school policies that keep Maple Bear schools at the forefront of bilingual education.

AN EVOLVING CURRICULUM

The curriculum for Junior Kindergarten through Grade 3 has recently been updated and refreshed. These updates consolidate academic content across regions for greater consistency, strengthen the integration of bilingual immersion across all subjects, and place an even stronger emphasis on

student-centred, inquiry-based learning. The program is balanced and evidencebased, supporting both academic achievement and social-emotional growth.

While the pedagogy remains the same, the curriculum evolves-ensuring schools remain globally aligned, locally adaptable, and equipped to develop the global skills students need for real-world readiness.

BENEFITS ACROSS THE MAPLE BEAR COMMUNITY

For school owners and teachers, the renewed curriculum provides tangible benefits: clearer pathways for teachers, hybrid print and digital resources for flexible delivery, and alignment across international markets. For families, it means assurance that Maple Bear offers not just a strong methodology, but one that is continuously updated to reflect best practice.

This commitment to a strong curriculum is one of Maple Bear’s greatest

strengths, reinforcing trust and confidence across our community.

LOOKING AHEAD

The recent updates are part of a methodical, long-term plan. Beginning with JK, SK, and Grades 1 to 3 in English Language Arts, Math, and Science, the next phase will extend into Grades 4 to 8. We are also revising and updating the nursery and toddler programs.

This deliberate cycle of renewal ensures that the Maple Bear program remains consistent, future-focused, and responsive, while never losing sight of the joyful foundations that mark the beginning of a child’s educational journey.

The MBGS curriculum is supported by both digital and print components, giving every classroom the tools to deliver meaningful, inquiry-driven learning.

QUALITY THAT BUILDS STRONG SCHOOLS AND BRIGHT FUTURES

Academic Quality Assurance: Elevating Standards in Learning

S

ince its earliest days, Maple Bear has relied on a rigorous academic quality assurance process to guide teaching, assessment, and leadership-helping our schools uphold the highest standards worldwide. At its core, MBQA is about putting students first: fostering consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement so every child has the best chance to succeed.

Each year, schools take part in a structured evaluation, working in partnership with our Quality Assurance Reviewers. Together, they examine four key domains: program implementation, leadership, instruction, and assessment. The process begins with self-assessment, followed by an in-depth review by Maple Bear’s QA team, and results in a School Improvement Plan with clear goals and action steps. This cycle of reflection and planning ensures that schools not only meet Maple Bear’s standards but also evolve year after year.

In 2025, Maple Bear added a new dimension to this process with the introduction of official certification. Schools that complete the QA review are now formally recognized for their pursuit of excellence, giving parents visible assurance that rigorous standards are being upheld and providing school owners with a powerful tool to demonstrate quality and accountability.

For more than 20 years, Maple Bear’s Academic Quality Assurance (MBQA) framework has been central to how we uphold high standards of teaching and learning across our school network. In 2025, we deepened this commitment by launching the Global Excellence (GLEX) Program, designed to bring the same level of rigour to school operations, facilities, and administration. These frameworks provide clarity, consistency, and confidence to families, educators, and school owners alike. They build on Maple Bear’s Canadian roots while reinforcing its reputation as a trusted global leader in bilingual education.

At Maple Bear, quality assurance is not just a process-it’s a promise. It ensures that every student, in every classroom, receives the global standards of excellence we stand for, while honouring the local context that makes each school unique.

GLEX: Raising the Operational Bar

If MBQA safeguards the classroom experience, the Maple Bear Global Excellence (GLEX) Program ensures that every aspect of school operations meets the same uncompromising standards.

Launched in February 2025, GLEX is Maple Bear’s operational quality assurance framework, created to uphold consistency, efficiency, and excellence across our global network. The program addresses everything from legal compliance and administrative practices to facilities, health, and safety-ensuring schools are well-run, sustainable, and aligned with global benchmarks. Assessments are carried out on a digital platform that monitors progress and supports schools with tailored action plans for improvement.

The benefits are far-reaching: school owners receive structured guidance and best-practice implementation, parents gain confidence in safe and well-maintained facilities, and Maple Bear schools worldwide deliver a uniform, trusted experience.

Quality Without Compromise

Our school communities benefit from inspired teaching, safe and well-managed facilities, consistent standards worldwide, and a shared culture of continuous improvement.

Together, MBQA and GLEX provide the unified framework that makes this possible, strengthening both the academic and operational pillars of Maple Bear. This dual focus reflects Maple Bear’s dedication to delivering consistent quality and continuous improvement across its global network.

By embedding quality at every level, Maple Bear is not only preparing students for success today - it is also building the foundation for thriving and resilient school communities tomorrow.

With GLEX, we are raising the operational bar across the globe. Families and school owners can trust that every Maple Bear school reflects not only academic excellence, but also worldclass management and care.

FROM FIRST STEPS TO FUTURE PATHS

Inside Maple Bear’s Core Programs

Education is more than a series of grades, levels and classes. It’s a journey of discovery, confidence and growth. At Maple Bear, we guide children along this path through four core programs: Bear Care, Preschool, Elementary, and High School. Each stage has its unique focus, but together they form a seamless pathway that equips students with the academic excellence, bilingual fluency, and future-ready skills they need to thrive in today’s interconnected world.

Bear Care: First Steps

In Bear Care, infants and toddlers (6 weeks - 24 months) begin their learning journey in a safe, nurturing environment where care and connection are at the centre. Through playbased activities, children are gently introduced to bilingual immersion, absorbing sounds, rhythms, and words from an early age.

The program not only reassures parents during a child’s earliest years but also establishes Maple Bear as a trusted partner in their family’s educational journey - a relationship that often extends well beyond the toddler years.

While program names and age ranges may vary from region to region, every Maple Bear school delivers the same Canadian education philosophy and quality standards from early childhood through high school.

For families, this means continuity and trust. For school owners and investors, it represents a proven model that supports strong enrollment, retention, and community impact.

Preschool: Curiosity in Action

For children ages 3 to 5 years, preschool is often their first structured learning experience outside the home - and Maple Bear ensures it’s playful and engaging.

Our Canadian-designed curriculum emphasizes inquiry-based learning, encouraging children to be curious, explore, and express themselves. At the same time, social-emotional growth takes centre stage as children learn to share, collaborate, and build friendships.

Because of its popularity and growth worldwide, preschool is the flagship program and often serves as the gateway to Maple Bear. Many families discover the brand at this stage, making it both a high-demand program and a natural entry point. It also lays the foundation for a smooth transition into Kindergarten, where bilingual education begins in earnest through natural language absorption in a play-based, low-pressure environment. The Kindergarten program emphasizes thematic, developmentally appropriate learning and dedicated exploration time - a holistic experience built on the trusted Canadian approach to education.

Elementary: Building Strong Foundations

Elementary school (6 to 12 years) is about building strong academic foundations and preparing students for their eventual transition into high school. At Maple Bear, students learn through bilingual immersion, gaining fluency in two languages while developing solid skills in literacy, numeracy, and scientific inquiry. Alongside these core subjects, we foster critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving, ensuring students are confident and ready to take on the challenges of secondary school.

Families remain with Maple Bear because the elementary years demonstrate the value of our approach: a rigorous academic program, a bilingual advantage, and the development of future-ready skills that set children apart as they enter high school.

High School: Ready for Tomorrow

Maple Bear’s High School program (13 to 17 years) provides students with a truly international experience. Alongside locally required subjects taught in the local language, students take Maple Bear credit courses designed by Canadian curriculum experts and delivered in English.

What truly sets Maple Bear’s High School program apart is the opportunity it gives students to graduate with dual credentials recognized around the world.

Through Maple Bear International School Toronto, students can pursue accreditation from the Province of Ontario, graduating with both their local credential and the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). This distinction carries weight worldwide, as Canada consistently ranks among the top-performing countries in the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA).

For our families, this dual diploma opens doors to universities around the world. In addition to rigorous academics, students gain the independence, confidence, and leadership skills needed for life after graduation.

Maple Bear schools are more than classrooms - they are communities where children grow, families feel supported, and learning thrives. By offering a complete pathway from early childhood to high school, Maple Bear provides consistency families can rely on and a model that empowers our partners and school owners to make a lasting impact. THE FUTURE STARTS IN THE CLASSROOMAT MAPLE BEAR, WE MAKE IT BRIGHTER.

As the future of work continues to evolve, so too must education. The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Future of Work 2025 Report highlights a rapidly changing landscape shaped by automation, digitization, and globalization.

By end of 2025, half of the workforce will require reskilling to meet the demands of new roles and technologies. Skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, resilience, adaptability, collaboration, and lifelong learning are becoming more crucial than ever.

At Maple Bear, we are committed to equipping our students with these future-ready skills, ensuring they are not just prepared for the workforce but ready to lead and thrive in a dynamic world. Here’s how our education approach aligns with the WEF’s insights:

Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving

The ability to analyze complex issues and create innovative solutions is indispensable in the modern workforce. At Maple Bear, we prioritize inquiry-based learning, where students explore real-world problems, ask thoughtful questions, and develop creative solutions. This fosters a mindset of curiosity and critical thinking from an early age.

Lifelong Learning and Curiosity

With technological advancements in reshaping industries, the ability to learn and adapt continuously is key. Maple Bear encourages lifelong learning and curiosity by nurturing a love for exploration and discovery. Through our student-centered approach, we empower learners to seek knowledge independently and embrace learning as a lifelong journey.

Collaboration and Emotional Intelligence

As workplaces become more collaborative, emotional intelligence and teamwork are vital. Our programs emphasize group projects, peer learning, and communication skills to teach students how to work effectively with diverse teams. These experiences build empathy, respect, and the ability to navigate interpersonal dynamics.

Maple Bear encourages lifelong learning and curiosity by nurturing a love for exploration and discovery.

Adaptability and Resilience

In a fast-changing world, the capacity to adapt and persevere is critical. Maple Bear integrates opportunities for students to tackle challenges, learn from failures, and develop resilience. Our holistic approach also supports emotional well-being, preparing students to face uncertainty with confidence.

Technological Proficiency

Digital literacy and technological skills are indispensable for future careers. Maple Bear incorporates technology into the classroom in meaningful ways, teaching students not just how to use tools but how to think critically about them. This prepares students to navigate and innovate in an increasingly tech-driven world.

Global Citizenship

With operations in over 39 countries, Maple Bear offers a multicultural bilingual education that fosters global perspectives and connections. Students learn about different cultures, values, and traditions, developing the intercultural competence needed to thrive in an interconnected world through connection with their peers and the Maple Bear Global Connections Program. They communicate freely in the language that connects them thus appreciating the value of the language.

Aligning with the Future of Work

The WEF predicts that jobs of the future will demand a blend of technical proficiency, creativity, and human-centered skills. By fostering these qualities, Maple Bear ensures students are equipped not just with academic knowledge but with the competencies to excel in roles that may not yet exist.

At Maple Bear, we believe that education is not just about preparing for the jobs of today but about inspiring students to shape the future. By aligning our teaching with the skills highlighted in the WEF Future of Work Report, we prepare our students to be lifelong learners, adaptive thinkers, and compassionate leaders ready to make a difference in the world.

RUNNING WITH PURPOSE:

WHY MAPLE BEAR COLLABORATES WITH THE TERRY FOX FOUNDATION

At Maple Bear, education goes beyond academics. We believe in nurturing compassionate, resilient, and globally minded citizens - children who understand that courage, perseverance, and community spirit can change the world. That’s why Maple Bear schools proudly collaborate with the Terry Fox Foundation, an organization that embodies hope, determination, and the power of collective action.

Why Terry Fox?

Terry Fox was a young Canadian who, after losing a leg to cancer, set out to run across Canada to raise awareness and funds for cancer research. His “Marathon of Hope” became one of the world’s greatest examples of perseverance and courage. His dream continues to inspire millions - including our Maple Bear students - to believe that one person can make a difference.

What Our Students Learn

Through our partnership with the Terry Fox Foundation, Maple Bear students learn lessons that last far beyond the classroom:

• Perseverance: They discover that challenges - whether in life, study, or the worldcan be faced with determination and optimism.

• Empathy and Compassion: They understand the importance of caring for others, helping those in need, and being part of a cause bigger than themselves.

• Democratic Values: Students experience active citizenship - they participate in decision-making, organize events, and collaborate with peers, teachers, and families.

• Community and Leadership Skills: They learn how teamwork, communication, and collective effort can turn an idea into meaningful action.

A Global Movement of Hope

Across the Maple Bear network, schools have embraced the Terry Fox Run as a celebration of resilience, unity, and social responsibility.

• Maple Bear Kyiv (Ukraine): Even in the context of war, our students and families continued their Terry Fox Run - a powerful symbol of perseverance and hope amid adversity. Their effort reminds us that courage knows no boundaries.

• Maple Bear Brno and Olomouc (Czech Republic): Both schools organized full-scale community runs where students, parents, and staff came

together, showing how shared values can unite people of all ages and backgrounds.

• Maple Bear Poland and Bulgaria: These schools turned the Terry Fox Run into inspiring community events - children, parents, and teachers running side by side, celebrating compassion, strength, and global citizenship.

Supporting a Worthy Cause

Every Maple Bear Terry Fox Run also has a tangible impact. The funds raised through these events are donated to local cancer research organizations in each country. This not only supports scientific progress and patient care but also shows students how their efforts contribute directly to improving lives in their own communities.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Terry Fox’s story is more than history - it’s a living lesson in integrity, purpose, and perseverance. By participating in the Terry Fox Run, Maple Bear students experience firsthand what it means to set a goal, to struggle, to keep going, and to support others along the way. These are the values that shape confident, empathetic, and responsible citizens - the very heart of Maple Bear education.

SPORTS ADVENTURES AT MAPLE BEAR BELGRADE

Movement as a Natural Part of Learning and Growing Up

At Maple Bear Belgrade, movement is not just play – it’s a powerful tool for learning, self- expression, and development. Sports activities are not an add-on to the curriculum; they are a key part of it, fully aligned with the Maple Bear philosophy – a Canadian approach that supports the holistic development of the child: body, mind, and emotions.

Our goal is for children to discover joy through movement, develop healthy habits, and learn through play –without pressure, without competition, and at their own pace.

A Variety of Sports for Curious Young Explorers

Our students have the opportunity to participate in a range of sports activities, tailored to their age group and guided by experienced coaches and educators in a safe and encouraging environment.

• Gym class – motor skills development through obstacle courses, games, and fun physical challenges that build strength, balance, and coordination.

• Karate – a martial art that teaches discipline, focus, and self-confidence, while promoting respect, self-control, and non-violence.

• Tennis – introductory tennis lessons that improve coordination, precision, and patience through playful activities.

• Swimming – swimming lessons that strengthen the body, build water confidence, and bring a great sense of achievement and enjoyment.

• Dance – moving to music helps children express themselves creatively while developing flexibility and self-confidence on stage.

Why Are Sports Activities

Important in Early Childhood?

Early childhood is a critical time for developing motor, emotional, and social skills. Regular physical activity at this stage offers numerous benefits:

• Motor skill development – enhances balance, coordination, and strength.

• Focus and attention – movement helps children concentrate and complete tasks more effectively.

• Social skills – sports encourage cooperation, taking turns, and respecting rules.

For more information and admission requests:

www.belgrade.senjak.maplebear-cee.com

• Confidence and perseverance – every small success (like swimming across the pool or mastering a new move) builds self-belief.

• Emotional balance – physical activity helps children release excess energy, reduce stress, and express emotions in a healthy way.

That’s why sports aren’t just an extra activity – they are the foundation of healthy development.

A Holistic Approach to Learning Through Movement

At Maple Bear, we believe that children learn best when their body, mind, and emotions are in balance. That’s why sports are deeply integrated into our holistic educational approach, based on proven Canadian methodology.

Just like in the classroom, on the sports field children:

• learn through play, at their own pace and without pressure,

• develop emotional and social skills – working in teams, learning to win and lose, and respecting others,

• build independence and self-confidence – every achievement, whether in the water or on the field, strengthens their belief in their own abilities.

Every child is unique, and our approach respects that. Our sports program supports individual development, helping each child find joy in movement.

In this way, sports become much more than physical activity – they become a life skill and a natural part of everyday learning.

Small Steps Today, Big Leaps Tomorrow

At Maple Bear Belgrade, sport is not just exercise – it’s a means of building character, self- confidence, and healthy lifelong habits. Through daily movement, our children grow stronger, more curious, and more independent.

Because when a child moves freely, they are not only developing their body – they are learning about themselves, others, and the world around them.

At Maple Bear, we believe that children learn best when their body, mind, and emotions are in balance.

Maple Bear Plovdiv, Bulgaria

PLOVDIV’S NEW CHAPTER: EDUCATION AS THE BRIDGE BETWEEN TRADITION AND TOMORROW

Welcome Neighbors! Maple Bear Plovdiv is opening in September 2026.

In Plovdiv, a city where tradition and modernity coexist in a distinctive rhythm, a new chapter in international education is unfolding. Kosta Bodoukov, the future Administrative Director of Maple Bear Plovdiv, combines the dedication of an educator with the vision of an entrepreneur. As Maple Bear prepares to expand its presence in Bulgaria with the opening of a school in Plovdiv next September, Bodoukov is leading an initiative that aims to bridge global educational standards with local values, creating a learning environment that nurtures curiosity, independence, and bilingual excellence.

For Bodoukov, the motivation behind Maple Bear Plovdiv reaches far beyond the opening of a new educational institution. It stems from a deep belief in the power of learning to transform lives and societies. “Education has the power to fundamentally transform society,” he says. “It is freedom, the freedom to grow as a person, to pursue, and achieve your dreams.” Guided by this belief, Bodoukov sees education not merely as an academic process, but as “a catalyst for individual and collective progress, a force capable of reshaping communities through knowledge and empowerment”.

Bodoukov’s conviction in the transformative role of education is deeply rooted in his own experience as a student. Having navigated an academic path that exposed both the strengths and shortcomings of both traditional and private educational systems, he developed a clear

understanding of how profoundly the quality of education can shape a person’s opportunities and mindset. It was through these experiences that he came to see education not simply as a means to professional success, but as the foundation for personal freedom and social progress. The lessons of his own journey continue to guide his work today, shaping his vision for an environment where learning inspires confidence, creativity, and a lifelong passion for knowledge.

For Bodoukov, the decision to bring Maple Bear to Plovdiv was driven by both research data and emotion. He sees a “clear and urgent need” for quality education in Plovdiv. He observes that the demand is growing rapidly among young, well-educated families who have already experienced the benefits of quality education and want the same opportunities for their children. “Many young parents, especially expatriates, hesitate to stay in the city because there are limited educational options for their kids”, he adds. In his view, the city cannot thrive without attracting and retaining talented professionals and, for that to happen, Plovdiv must ensure that families have access to the very best conditions for living and learning.

Maple Bear’s educational model, Bodoukov explains, offers precisely the kind of holistic, future-oriented learning that Plovdiv’s families have been seeking. Rooted in the Canadian bilingual approach, it emphasizes inquiry-based learning, creativity, and the development of critical thinking which are skills essential for success in a global environment. “The Canadian system ignites in children a genuine love for learning,” he says. “It nurtures their natural curiosity and helps us cultivate it.” Unlike traditional models, Maple Bear’s focus is firmly on the student, rather than the curriculum. “Our goal is to bring out each child’s individual talents,” Bodoukov adds, “to create an environment where every student feels seen, inspired, and empowered to explore.”

Maple Bear Sofia, Bulgaria

INTERVIEW WITH MARIANA CASTAÑON, PRINCIPAL OF MAPLE BEAR SOFIA SCHOOL

Hello Mariana, could you start by telling us a little about your background?

Originally from Bulgaria, I emigrated to the United States with my family when I was 16. Having returned to my homeland, I bring over 20 years of educational experience from the U.S., gained across preschool, elementary, middle school, and university settings. My professional path includes roles as a teacher, mentor, educational consultant, university lecturer, and school leader. I am currently completing my PhD in Education at the University of New Mexico and lead Maple Bear Sofia School as its Principal.

You recently stepped into the role of Principal. What are your first impressions of the school?

Extremely positive. It is truly a wonderful school - beautiful in its setting and atmosphere, with smart students who bring joy and energy to the classrooms. The teachers here are high-quality professionals who are clearly dedicated to their students.

I have already noticed how great, well-informed, and supportive parents are, working closely with the teachers and school team.

Overall, my first impressions are that this is a thriving school community built on strong values, professionalism, and collaboration.

As the new Principal, what is your vision for Maple Bear Sofia School?

As the new Principal of Maple Bear Sofia School, my vision is to continue building on the strong foundation that already exists while also preparing for the next stages of growth. A key priority is to create a strong middle school program that will lead to a successful high school, ensuring our students have a

seamless academic journey from early years through graduation.

I want to establish and make even stronger the existing structures of the school, while working closely with families, teachers, and students to strengthen the “triangle of success” that is at the heart of student achievement. Another important part of my vision is to work on blending the Canadian and Bulgarian curriculums in order to create a hybrid, well-functioning program that reflects the best of both systems and supports bilingual excellence.

Equally, I want to be open to everyone in our community who wishes to share their successes, concerns, or suggestions. By listening and collaborating, I believe we can continue to create a school where every student thrives. I will always strive to provide as much support as possible to teachers, families, and students so that Maple Bear Sofia remains a school where everyone feels valued, inspired, and successful.

How do you support students in reaching their full potential?

Students can reach their full potential and perform well academically only when their basic needs are met, as outlined by Maslow’s hierarchy-students must feel safe, supported, and valued before they can truly bloom academically and personally. They have to Maslow before they can Bloom. Prioritizing social-emotional growth is essential, as it allows students to develop resilience, self-awareness, and empathy, which are critical for learning.

Building positive and nurturing relationships with peers, teachers, and administration is another key factor, as strong connections create a supportive environment where students feel confident to take risks and engage deeply in their learning. Students thrive when they are empowered to pursue their interests, guided by inquiry-based and project-based learning, within a framework of clearly established routines and expectations.

NATIONAL EXTERNAL ASSESSMENT - 4TH GRADE

It is equally important that students’ voices are heard and acknowledged, fostering a sense of ownership and agency in their education. Finally, a strong, inclusive community that actively involves families and connects with the larger surrounding community reinforces students’ sense of belonging and motivates them to reach their highest potential.

Maple Bear Sofia School also offers the local Bulgarian curriculum. Could you share some achievements in this area that you’re particularly proud of?

Certainly. As a Maple Bear school, we follow a hybrid educational model, with roughly half of the curriculum based on the local Bulgarian program. Our 4th graders consistently achieve high scores on the National External Assessment. This year, we are excited to have our first cohort of 7th graders taking the National External Examinations, and our teachers are working diligently to ensure they are well prepared.

We heard your school had a very impressive project connecting Maple Bear students directly with the International Space Station. Could you share a bit more?

Yes, earlier in 2025, our school earned the privilege of establishing a live radio communication with NASA astronaut Don Pettit aboard the ISS, following a successful application to the ARISS program. This was made possible thanks to our partners from a local amateur radio club, who expertly set up the connection. The rest is history-a truly exhilarating 10 minutes and an unforgettable experience for our students, one that ignited a lifelong fascination with space and science.

Maple Bear Kyiv, Ukraine

REACHING FOR THE STARS: MAPLE BEAR KYIV’S NEW HOUSE SYSTEM

This year, Maple Bear Kyiv proudly launched its House System - an initiative designed to strengthen our school community, celebrate academic excellence, and nurture leadership among our middle school students.

Inspired by the theme of reaching for the stars, our four Houses - Orion, Lyra, Leo, and Aquila - each represent courage, creativity, strength, and vision. Students earn points not only through friendly competition, but also for academic achievement, good citizenship, and demonstrating character education values such as respect, responsibility, and kindness. Every 300 points help light up a star in their constellation, a shining reminder that when we work together, we can illuminate even the darkest sky.

Beyond recognition and celebration, the House System encourages teamwork, empathy, and leadership. As our students grow, this initiative will evolve into a Student Government, giving them a meaningful voice in shaping school life and living the democratic values that define the Maple Bear approach.

A Slice of Canada: Our Apple Pie Tradition at Maple Bear Kyiv

Every October, as autumn settles over Kyiv and the smell of apples fills the air, Maple Bear Kyiv celebrates one of its most beloved Canadian traditions - baking apple pies for Thanksgiving.

What began in 2021 has grown into a cherished annual event that connects our students to Canadian culture and to one another. From peeling, coring, and cutting apples to mixing the crust and baking golden pies, every step invites hands-on learning and joyful collaboration.

This tradition goes far beyond baking. Our young chefs practice fine motor skills, math skills as they measure ingredients, life skills like following steps and cleaning up, and above all, teamwork. The laughter, concentration, and delicious smells make it a day everyone looks forward to all year long.

When the pies finally come out of the oven, warm and sweet, students proudly enjoy the results of their hard work - a true taste of Canada and a reminder that learning happens in every bite.

At Maple Bear Kyiv, Thanksgiving isn’t just about giving thanks - it’s about creating together, learning together, and sharing together.

Words in Action: Building Vocabulary One Week at a Time

At Maple Bear Kyiv, language learning is a joyful journey - and our Weekly Words program is one of the ways we make it come alive.

Starting from Grade 2, students learn and practice 10 words each week from Fry’s High-Frequency Word List, helping them build reading fluency and spelling confidence. As students move up through the grades, the challenge grows - by Grades 5 and 6, they not only learn the spelling and meaning but also explore synonyms and antonyms, expanding their vocabulary and understanding of language.

Throughout the week, students engage with these words in fun and meaningful ways - from their morning messages to interactive games, videos, and hands-on practice. They trace, complete, and correct words, fill in missing letters, and match beginnings and endings - all while building memory and accuracy. Each Friday, they take part in a weekly spelling test to celebrate their progress.

The excitement peaks in May, when we mark National Bee Day with our annual Maple Bear Spelling Bee - a buzzing event where students from Grades 2 to 6 compete to spell words aloud, showcase their hard work, and celebrate the power of language.

At Maple Bear Kyiv, every word counts - and every learner shines.

Lights, Camera, English! Our Annual Maple Bear Kyiv Plays

Every April, Maple Bear Kyiv transforms into a stage of imagination and creativity as each grade performs its own English-language play to celebrate the end of the school year.

From our youngest students in Senior Kindergarten performing charming classics like Peter Pan or The Magical Toy Shop - where toys come to life after the humans leave - to our Grade 4 and 5 students taking audiences on a spectacular journey through Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the performances showcase both artistry and language growth.

Behind each production is weeks of preparation and dedication. Students memorize lines, learn songs, practice dance routines, and most importantly, build confidence in speaking English clearly and expressively. Every rehearsal helps them develop teamwork, creativity, and the courage to perform in front of an

MAPLE BEAR BRNO ELEMENTARY SCHOOLA PLACE THAT FEELS LIKE HOME

We opened Maple Bear Brno in September 2024 with a clear vision: to build something more than a school. Not just an institution, but a place where children are genuinely happy to come each day, where they grow in an atmosphere of trust, kindness, and natural curiosity.

We began with our Preparatory Class (Grade 0), which bridges kindergarten and elementary school. From the start, we designed this year to be a true transition - playful yet structured, nurturing yet full of challenge.

One year later, we opened our Grade 1 class. And we continue to grow adding a new grade level each year, together with our students.

We believe school shouldn’t be only about performance and grades. It should be a space where children grow as whole individuals learning to speak and listen, to understand the world around them and themselves. In both Czech and English. Naturally, and at their own pace.

MAPLE BEAR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRAGUE

Where to Find Us

We are located in the modern Kavčí Hory Office Park, where dedicated spaces for the entire elementary level have been renovated with a focus on functionality, safety, and aesthetics. The second phase of construction-designed to accommodate the future expansion to lower secondary (middle school) levels-is still to come. The architectural design was once again developed in collaboration with the renowned SOA Architects studio, while the visual identity and graphic elements were created with the Graphite creative studio. This trusted duo has already successfully worked with us on our previous Maple Bear school projects in the Czech Republic. The Prague school thus naturally continues the recognizable Maple Bear style-a clean, playful, and welcoming environment that fosters creativity, independence, and joy in learning.

Our location within the city is highly strategic-the school is easily accessible by public transport, the city center is just 10 minutes away, and Václav Havel Airport can be reached in about 25 minutes. The surrounding area offers a variety of amenities, including restaurants, shops, and peaceful green spaces for relaxation. The school is also easily accessible by car. Behind the school lies Pankrác Park, and from the classroom windows, you can enjoy a view of Prague Castle. We couldn’t have wished for a better location.

aple Bear has arrived in the capital! As of September 1, 2025, Prague has become home to the third Maple Bear school in the Czech Republic. This year, we welcomed our first students-one Reception Year class (Zero Grade) and one Grade 1 class. With this step, we’ve officially begun building a full elementary school, which will grow together with our students year by year.

Although the Prague school is new, it stands on solid foundations-drawing from the experience of our sister schools in Brno and Olomouc, as well as the professional support of Maple Bear CEE and Maple Bear Global, which have successfully opened and operate dozens of schools across Europe and around the world.

Each class is led by a teaching duo – one Czech teacher and one native English-speaking teacher. This model allows for natural bilingual education, where children are exposed to both languages daily, during lessons as well as in everyday interactions. Teachers work closely together, co-plan their lessons, and create a linguistically rich and safe learning environment.

An essential part of school life is also played by our afterschool care educators, who are responsible for the afternoon program, the development of social skills, and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere after classes. Equally important is our administrative support team, who ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the school and provide assistance to both the teaching team and parents.

Our Community

At our school, we take pride in offering high-quality education with a premium standard, while maintaining a warm, family-like atmosphere. We believe that strong relationships are the foundation of a great school-that’s why we make it a priority to know every child and parent by name, and for them to know us. Parents are an important part of our community, and school life naturally includes events for children and their families, as well as gatherings designed just for parents.

For parents, we hosted a talk by an expert on AI in education, who shared insights on how to keep up with children’s use of AI, how to guide them safely, and even how to use AI creatively-for example, to compose a school anthem or animate a child’s drawing.

When creating our school program, we focus on celebrating both Czech traditions and global holidays, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of our community, which includes families from many different countries.

School Team

The foundation of every high-quality school is an experienced, stable, and satisfied team. At Maple Bear Prague, we place great emphasis on selecting the very best educators – not only for their professional expertise, but also for their ability to guide children with respect, empathy, and enthusiasm. Our methodology is demanding and requires a high level of teaching professionalism, which is why we are equally committed to creating an environment where teachers can grow, feel supported, and become part of an inspiring community.

At Maple Bear, my mission is to create a school where every child thrives in a safe, inspiring environment, supported by a dedicated and professional teaching team.

SETTING NEW TRENDS IN BILINGUAL EDUCATION ACROSS POLAND

Maple Bear Katowice, the first Maple Bear school established in Poland, has been rapidly evolving since its opening in 2023. In just two years, the school has doubled its student enrolment - a clear sign of growing trust from parents and the local community in its innovative, bilingual education model based on Canadian standards.

Canadian Excellence, Rooted in Polish Tradition

Maple Bear Katowice combines the Polish core curriculum with modern Canadian teaching methods. This carefully blended approach ensures academic continuity while elevating learning standards.

The school focuses on future-ready skills - critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, as well as social-emotional competencies such as empathy and teamwork. Most classes are conducted in English through full language immersion, allowing students to acquire English naturally while maintaining strong foundations in the Polish language and culture.

A Thriving Multicultural Community

The past year marked a period of intense growth and community-building. Maple Bear Katowice continues to raise educational standards, introduce innovations, and actively participate in the cultural life of the city.

In June 2025, the school hosted the Silesian Multicultural Picnic, as the grand finale of Multicultural Week. Families, neighbours, and members of diverse local communities came together to celebrate unity in diversity.

“This past year was incredibly dynamic and full of positive change,” says Vice Principal Patryk Kundera. “Being part of Maple Bear’s growth and helping shape a vibrant community that feels like a true family has been an honour.”

Unlike traditional schools, Polish Maple Bear campuses remain open throughout the summer. Last Katowice Summer Camp has welcomed both enrolled and external students, offering global cultural exploration, music, languages, and even practical workshops on fake news detection and safe social media use.

Leading

the Way for the Maple Bear

Network

In May 2025, Katowice hosted the first national Maple Bear Teachers’ Conference, bringing together educators from Poland, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine. This prestigious event confirmed Katowice’s role as a hub of innovation and leadership within the Polish Maple Bear network.

Another milestone came in September 2025, when Her Excellency Catherine Godin, Canadian Ambassador to Poland, visited the school. She met with staff and students, exploring how Canadian values of openness, innovation, and bilingualism are being brought to life.

A Trusted Partner for Families and the City Today, Maple Bear Katowice stands as both an exceptional learning environment and an active contributor to city life. Its openness to diversity, modern teaching approach, and commitment to community engagement have earned it recognition as a key educational and social institution in Katowice.

Families from across the region value the school for its ability to prepare children not only for academic success but also for life - with confidence, empathy, and a global perspective.

For the 2026/2027 school year, enrollment is open for kindergarten, preschool, and primary school grades 1-6.

BILINGUAL EDUCATION IN KRAKÓW – MAPLE BEAR OPENS NEW PRIMARY SCHOOL

Since 2024, Maple Bear Kraków has been offering families a modern kindergarten and preschool, and from September 2025, a primary school as well, enabling children to continue their education in a consistent, bilingual environment that seamlessly integrates the Canadian Maple Bear curriculum with the Polish core curriculum. This comprehensive educational pathway is unique in Kraków's education market and addresses the growing demand from families seeking a well-rounded, modern education for their children.

Bilingualism and a Blended Curriculum

A unique advantage of the Maple Bear Kraków is its bilingualism and carefully blended program, which combines the Maple Bear curriculum and Canadian educational standards with the requirements of the Polish education system. Children learn in an immersive environment where most classes are conducted in English, while simultaneously following the Polish curriculum. Children from foreign families also have the opportunity to learn Polish.

Modern Methods and Future Skills Development

The Maple Bear educational model responds to contemporary challenges: in a globalized world, there is a growing need for universal competencies while maintaining local identity. A child raised in the Maple Bear system can continue education both in a Polish high school and in an international school anywhere in the world.

Learning at Maple Bear also involves developing creativity, critical thinking, collaboration skills, and problem-solving – competencies essential in the 21st century. “In a traditional school, the teacher’s role was to transmit knowledge. At Maple Bear, the teacher acts as a guide who accompanies the child in discovering the world. Our teachers undergo intensive training led by Canadian experts to tailor methods to the individual needs of students. Instead of teaching everyone the same thing in the same way, we help each student find their own path to knowledge,” stresses principal Marta Pszczoła.

Development Plans and New Location

The new campus will become an educational center that provides even better conditions for learning and development for a larger number of students. The project includes solutions that foster creativity, innovation, and social integration, as well as recreational and sports facilities.

Community and Atmosphere – The Foundation of Education

Maple Bear Kraków is a place where, in line with Maple Bear’s mission, children feel safe and valued. The international teaching staff cares for the individual needs of students, supporting their adaptation to the bilingual environment and the development of talents and interests. Open days, family meetings, integration, and educational events strengthen the bonds between students, parents, and teachers, building a close-knit, open, and supportive community.

Maple Bear Kraków is a destination for families who want to provide their children with a modern, bilingual education at the highest level – from kindergarten and preschool through primary school. The blended curriculum, inquiry-based learning methods, and focus on developing future-ready competencies have enabled the institution to quickly gain trust and establish itself as an important landmark on Kraków's educational map.

THE MAPLE BEAR DUAL CURRICULUM FOR GLOBAL AND POLISH SUCCESS

At Maple Bear Polska, we utilize an innovative blended curriculum model, seamlessly integrating the advanced Canadian Maple Bear program with the Polish core curriculum. Our priority is the unification of learning outcomes, ensuring that parents and students are confident they're receiving the highest quality education.

The Canadian program, well-known for achieving top results in the international PISA assessment, serves as a progressive foundation. Simultaneously, the Polish curriculum is comprehensively covered through crucial national additions, ensuring that the Polish language, history, geography, and the richness of Polish culture and traditions are fully integrated into the learning experience.

This journey culminates in a dual diploma: an official Polish certificate and an international Maple Bear diploma. This guarantees that our students receive the highest educational level, comparable to students in Canada, and prepares them for global opportunities.

The next step in Maple Bear’s development in Kraków is the construction of a second location in Kraków’s Zakrzówek district,” announces Grzegorz Esz, CEO of Maple Bear Schools Polska. “The campus design has been thoughtfully created around the concept of the classroom as the ‘third teacher’ - an inspiring, flexible environment that actively supports and enhances the learning process. Construction will start at the beginning of 2026. The planned completion date is summer 2027. This investment responds to the growing interest in bilingual education in Kraków and is an important element of Maple Bear’s development strategy in Poland.”

Our parents about Maple Bear Cluj

If I had to summarize our experience with Maple Bear Kindergarten on Maciesului Street in a few words, it would be: “A place is made special by the people in it.”

Beyond the excellent educational curriculum, the freshly prepared meals made in the kindergarten’s own kitchen, and the wide range of extracurricular activities, it’s the warmth and professionalism of the staff that truly make the difference.

Our children adore their teachers as well as the auxiliary and administrative staff. We feel fortunate to have such dedicated, caring people looking after them, and we appreciate being informed almost in real time about their daily activities.

A Mother at Maple Bear Cluj

We are now in our fourth week of school as we write this review, and Maple Bear has been an exceptional experience so far. We are a family of three, and our 6-year-old son just started grade zero (the Romanian equivalent of preschool). He absolutely loves it.

Although he did not attend Maple Bear previously and came from another kindergarten program, he adapted very quickly. Seeing his enthusiasm about going to school every day is incredibly rewarding for us, and we credit the strong involvement of both the management and the teachers.

If I had to sum up why we chose Maple Bear over other schools we visited, it would be “good vibes.”

In Romania, not many schools have been built from scratch after 1990, so the fact that Maple Bear operates in a new building was an important factor-though not unique in our city. What truly set it apart was the positive, welcoming feeling we got during every interaction with the management, the staff, and during each visit. Our son joined us on some of these visits and also reacted very positively.

Looking back, we are certain that Maple Bear was the right choice, and we hope to see a smile on our little one’s face every day he attends Maple Bear School.

BUILDING THE FUTURE, ONE BEAR AT A TIME

A Journey from Maple Bear Alkent

From the very first day Maple Bear Alkent opened its doors, our goal has been clear: to nurture children who are curious, creative, thoughtful, and confident in expressing themselves. We believe that building such a learning community begins with love and care.

A New Beginning in Alkent

Maple Bear Alkent was established as part of the global Maple Bear network, bringing the Canadian education approach to Türkiye. We proudly stand as the only school in the Alkent region implementing the immersion (bilingual integration) method, and the only institution with a corporate structure that belongs to the international Maple Bear family.

Every day, two languages live side by side in our classrooms - children learn to think, feel, and express themselves in both English and Turkish. For us, bilingual education is not just an academic approach; it is the first step toward cultural understanding.

Many Cultures, One Heart

Our diverse teaching team gives every child the opportunity to see the world through different perspectives. Rimsha from Pakistan, Marie from Cameroon, Tonye from Nigeria, and Gözde, Gülhan, and Kübra from Türkiyeeach of them brings a unique cultural richness that shapes our classrooms. This diversity helps our students develop empathy, cooperation, and respect. We call this harmony our “Global Family.”

The Colors of Learning

Voices of Our Parents:

Our parents are our greatest supporters on this journey. Their words capture the essence of Maple Bear Alkent:

“Our daughter didn’t just learn English here; she found her confidence.”

“Maple Bear Alkent has become more than a school for us - it’s a second home.”

Milestones of Our First Year

• Launch of our first Cubs Club group

• Teacher orientation and visit of Canadian educators

• “Welcome Autumn” costume party

• Individual parent–teacher meetings

Our school’s minimalist design has been brightened day by day by our students’ creativity. Paintings in art corners, classroom projects, and the spark in children’s eyes bring life to every wall.

Maple Bear Alkent’s wide, natural garden has quickly become one of the most admired spaces in the area. It is not only a play area, but also a perfect setting for structured outdoor learning. Through hunt games, balance and movement activities, and nature-based explorations, our children strengthen their motor skills while connecting with their environment.

The Harmony of Art, Music, and Movement

Each week, our students attend Drama, Orff, and Music lessons that foster rhythm, body awareness, and creative expression. These classes encourage children to communicate emotions through movement and sound rather than words. Through Body Movement sessions, they build confidence, develop spatial awareness, and learn to collaborate as a group. In every lesson, we celebrate creativity through the unifying power of art and music.

Days Full of Discovery

Every day in our classrooms begins with curiosity and ends with a new discovery. In our Mini Scientists at Work experiments, children explore why bubbles float, and in Drama lessons, they bring their own stories to life. Whatever the subject, our goal is always the same: to keep the joy of learning alive.

A Strong Start: The Cubs Club

Our Cubs Club program has drawn great attention with its innovative approach to early childhood education. Through parent-involved sessions and play-based learning, children transition smoothly into school life, while parents become active partners in their child’s learning journey. This program has introduced a fresh and inspiring perspective on early years education in the region.

• Introduction of digital learning updates through Kinderpedia

Each moment marks a small step that became part of a much bigger story.

Our Vision: Global Values, Local Heart

At Maple Bear Alkent, we have united Canada’s modern education vision with our local values. For us, Care, Communication, Confidence, and Collaboration are not just words on the wall - they are values we live by every day.

With these values, every child who grows within our community will make the worldand themselves - a little brighter.

GROWING THROUGH PLAY, CREATIVITY, AND MOVEMENT: A GLIMPSE INTO OUR KINDERGARTEN

At our kindergarten, every day is an opportunity for discovery. Through engaging extracurricular activities, a nurturing daily rhythm, and environments designed specifically for young learners, children grow emotionally, physically, and creatively.

Extracurricular Activities That Inspire

We believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Two of our most cherished extracurricular activities - Taekwon-do and piano lessons - give children meaningful ways to develop new skills while having fun.

Taekwon-do: Strength, Confidence, and Discipline

Led by qualified instructors experienced in working with preschool-aged children, our Taekwon-do classes blend simple exercises, dynamic games, and foundational martial arts techniques.

Through these playful yet structured sessions, children strengthen their bodies, improve balance and coordination and build self-confidence and focus. They also learn discipline, respect, and teamwork.

Piano: First Steps Into the World of Music

Our piano lessons are taught by a professional music educator who introduces children to sound, rhythm, and creative expression.

A Day With Us: Gentle Structure, Meaningful Play

Each day in our kindergarten unfolds with care and intention. From morning greetings to the last moments of calm reflection, children benefit from a balanced routine supporting learning, well-being, and social connection.

Morning Warmth and Free Play: The day begins with a warm welcome, giving each child a sense of security and belonging. Early free-play activities encourage social interaction, problem-solving, and imagination, creating an ideal start to the learning day.

Circle Time: Connection and Community: Circle time provides an opportunity for children to share thoughts, participate in group conversations, and engage in daily rhythms that reinforce a sense of community and emotional awareness.

Creative and Structured Learning: Throughout the day, children take part in thoughtfully planned activities: Art and music sessions, motor games, thematic projects, group and individual challenges. Each activity is tailored to support creativity,

cognitive development, and confidence while respecting each child’s individual pace.

Ending With Calm: The day concludes with quiet moments-reading, gentle conversations, and reflection-allowing children to transition peacefully and internalize the experiences of the day.

Art Every Day Creativity as a Way of Learning: Art is deeply woven into our educational program. Children explore a variety of artistic techniques, helping them develop imagination, fine motor skills, and sensory awareness.

Our Environments: Spaces That Support Growth

Our kindergarten’s environments invite children to learn through exploration. Classrooms are bright, open, and flexible, accommodating various activities throughout the day. All furniture and equipment are child-friendly, allowing young learners to explore independently and confidently.
