From Pacific to Atlantic Watercolor series This series of watercolors was created while I was sailing from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean, In the tropical landscape, on the dry beaches of Mexico, under the endless Panama rainfall, on the white sands of the San Blas Islands, on board the ‘A Volonte’ sailboat …

Made with the waters of the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, washed away with the tides and retouched with the sudden tropical rains.

These watercolors are the seeds of my new work, where new images begin to take shape, where I try to capture and celebrate the spirit of objects and beings who have shared with me even a wonderful moment in this life.

Del Pacifico al Atlántico Esta serie de acuarelas fueron realizadas navegando del océano Pacifico al océano Atlántico, En el paisaje tropical, en las playas de la costa del Pacifico de México, bajo las interminables lluvias de Panamá, en las arenas blancas de las islas de San Blas, del mar Caribe, a bordo del A Volonte….

Hechas con las aguas del Pacifico y del Atlántico, lavadas con las mareas, y retocadas con las repentinas lluvias tropicales. Estas acuarelas son el abono de los nuevos trabajos, donde comienzan a gestarse las Imágenes, donde intento plasmar y celebrar el espíritu de las cosas y seres que han compartido conmigo aunque sea un maravilloso instante de vida.

Sea of Seas

Everything contains perfection, something unique and essential, where the questions no longer exist and the mystery of creation begins. A monkey, a crab, the smallest of wild flowers, all objects enclose an admirable unity and order. Finding these qualities, as purely as I can and without circumventing in any way, is my intention.

There is something important in the works that I dream about a revelation, a certainty, a truth that is unspeakable and can only be painted. The most interesting things are those that produce ideas, not those that are products of an idea. I always want to paint what the naked eye cannot see, an object in its pure essence. What matters to me is making visible the invisible, and seeing with the eyes of the spirit.

When I work and the miracle of creation arises, it’s like seeing something anew for the first time. Of course one has to be willing to fail, and fail multiple times, in order to achieve something of value that will bring an added quality to what has already been done. In the words of Henri Matisse, “There is nothing more difficult for a truly creative painter than to paint a rose, for to do so, he has first to forget all the roses that have ever been painted before.”

Mar de Mares

En todo hay algo de perfección, algo único y esencial donde se agotan los porqué, y empieza el misterio de la creación. En un mono, en un cangrejo, en la más pequeña de las flores silvestres, todo es admirable y tiene su forma de unidad y orden dar con ellas es mi intención, sin mentiras y sin vueltas.

En la pintura que yo sueño hay algo importante, una revelación, una certeza, una verdad que se deja pintar solamente, y por eso es innombrable.

Las cosas interesantes son las que producen ideas, no las que son productos de una idea. Siempre quiero pintar lo que los ojos físicos no ven, la espiritualidad de las cosas. Lo que realmente importante para mí es hacer visible lo invisible, es ver lo que ven los ojos del espíritu.

Cuando yo hago mi trabajo y surge el milagro, es como ver algo por primera vez. Por supuesto que hay que estar dispuesto a fracasar y fracasar mucho, para lograr algo, que a mi entender realmente sea valioso, que aporte algo más a lo ya hecho. Como alguna vez dijo Matisse “No hay nada más difícil para un pintor verdaderamente creativo que pintar una rosa, pues para hacerlo debe olvidar todas las rosas pintadas”

LEA N D RO M A N Z O In 1969 Leandro Manzo was born in Rio Gallegos, Santa Cruz, Argentina. At 13 he had his first group exhibition by the hand of his father also a painter, at the Museo de Artes Visuales de Quilmes, in Buenos Aires. From 1991 to 1993 Leandro worked in drawing and painting with renowned artist Martínez Howard who had studied with Lino Spilimbergo and the great Hungarian artist LajoSzalay. He has worked alongside some of the most important Argentine artists of his time, including the late Leopoldo Presas, who included some of Leandro’s works in his private collection.

With only 25 years, two of the most important collectors of Argentina, acquire his works. Manzo has had more than twenty five solo exhibitions and close to fifty group exhibitions in art galleries, cultural centers and museums across the globe, including Argentina, Japan, and the United States.

Since 2004 he has lived in various cities within the United States. In 2006 he received permanent residence for Exceptional Aptitude in the Field of the Arts.

In 1996 has a solo exhibition at the prestigious Centro Cultural Recoleta, this exhibition has been seen by more than 80,000 people, with great success and an excellent recognition from specialized critics.

In 1997 is convened to exhibit as one of the 100 most prominent artists of Argentina in the inauguration of the Cronopios Hall in the Centro Cultural Recoleta, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

In 2006 the Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA), Long Beach, CA. acquires two works for his permanent collection.

In 2009 is convened by Modern Multiples Inc. in Los Angeles, CA to make a series of screen prints and works together with the prestigious Master artprinter Richard Duardo. He had worked with many of my art heroes including Keith Haring, Shepard Fairey, Mark Mothersbaugh, John Van Hamersveld, Mick Haggerty,

David Hockney, and Chaz Bojórquez.

His decorations and wall paintings are in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, New York City, Los Angeles and Charlotte, NC. Best Local Artist. BOB Awards, Charlotte Magazine, 2015 Best Art Exhibit in the last 12 months. Eternal Leandro Manzo solo exhibition.
