OVERVIEW

Every day, as we continue to work in the community of Sylvain, Haiti, we see tangible and positive results of our mission of transforming together, to be love in action, in a broken world. Our various programs provide transformational physical and spiritual needs and cultivate a sense of hope and shalom in a place of great chaos. Our education programs are a vital part of our in-country ministry and are literally the key to unlocking opportunities that Haitian children desperately need for their futures, futures that, God willing, are self-sustaining and free of dependence on foreign assistance.

We have been faithful to a vision for education, starting with children in their mother’s womb and walking with them through their formal, primary education. We established the Yellow Iron School of Light (YISOL) in 2017, opened the Sylvain Christian School of Light in 2019, and added the second wing of the school in 2022. This has produced incredible results, as our grade-level passing rates are 96.9%. These students thrive in our beautiful educational space, with quality teachers and capable helpers. Our curriculum provides more than basic government-mandated standards, emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and developmental concepts. We always go above and beyond the standard, offering Special Education resources, tutoring, and additive summer school classes for English and French language. We are excited to share this opportunity to partner with us, as we look to expand our Christian school education program on our Sylvain campus.

Background on the Haitian Education Structure

In Haiti, recognized (accredited) schools follow the sequence of having a Kindergarten (what we call pre-school) and then a Fundamental School, consisting of grades 1-9. Transferring from school to school in Haiti is difficult, and most often, not even an option for Haitian children. With this understanding, it is critical to provide a fundamental school for our current kindergarten students once they graduate. High schools and colleges/universities are largely independent of these kindergarten and fundamental schools, so our students will be well-prepared to access these institutions upon graduation. Right now, we have established Kindergarten and Fundamental School through 6th Grade for students. We need to build another wing of our school to accommodate grades 7, 8, and 9.

GOALS AND TIMELINE

We desire to continue to provide a quality, Christ-centered education for the children of Sylvain and therefore, we need to furnish the appropriate educational spaces and identify and train the best possible instructors for such an education. Our first class will complete 6th grade in June 2025 and our goal is to have these students start 7th grade in our new wing of the fundamental school in September 2025. We have the land to expand the fundamental school on our existing campus (Exhibit 1 - Master Campus Site Plan). To accomplish this goal, we need to complete the following design and construction phases over the next two years:

January 2025 to August 2025

September 2025

January 2026 to July 2026

September 2026

September 2027

SUMMARY

The Many Hands Fundamental School is a transformative, multi-phase project that has redefined our community and set a regional standard for education. We’ve witnessed firsthand how this school has uplifted our community, but our work is far from over. Completing the fundamental school is essential to providing Sylvain’s children with continued opportunities for education, leadership development, and entrepreneurship. Our goal is to cultivate graduates who are not only academically prepared, but also equipped to become influential leaders within their families, communities, and nation. By empowering these young minds, we’ll ignite lasting change in North Central Haiti. This achievable project is more than just building classrooms; it’s creating jobs for local Haitians in construction, education, and support roles. Together, we can build a brighter future for the people of Haiti.

Opportunities Reporting

Many Hands desires for our partnership to be more than just a funding relationship. We believe it would be appropriate and important for donors to visit our Sylvain campus to see our ministry work in action. This would also be a great encouragement to us. Please know that our campus gate is always open, and we have very nice lodging facilities to welcome and accommodate any size group.

Many Hands will provide an annual progress report (or more frequently if desired) including, but not limited to, actual expenditures, photographs, testimonials, etc.

How you can help?

We invite you to join us and complete this vision by financially committing for 2024 and 2025. The dollar amount shown would be the annual commitment for two years.

Per Year Total: $237,500

Thank you for your consideration to partner with us in finishing the vision for the Sylvain Christian School of Light.

MISSION AND VISION

Transforming together, to be love in action, in a broken world

Transform Together Love Action Broken World

Romans 12 transformation, a whole person transforming mentally, physically, and spiritually

Vision

We do this in unity, giving our strengths and allowing others to help in our weakness

Ephesians 4:2 love to bear with one another in carrying burdens with humility, gentleness, and patience

Luke 4:18-19 action, proclaiming the Good News giving freedom to those held captive, physically healing people, and setting the oppressed free

Our world is moaning in brokenness. All are broken and in need of a Savior

Many Hands envisions a world where people transform together, through the presence of Jesus Christ, to be called people, living with purpose, unleashing God-given talents and resources to bring Good News in a broken world.

Core Values

We are Image-bearers of God.

We believe that all have a God-given identity and all have a purpose in God’s plan. All are called to serve their purpose, not have the purpose serve them. In relationships, we will help people understand their true calling and stand by them as they unleash their God-given talents to bring the Good News within their circles of influence.

We are the Sent People of God.

Just as God sent his son Jesus and Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, we are to be the sent people of God, bringing the Good News to people wherever we are called. Jesus is waiting for us when we get outside of ourselves in faith and will meet us to help us fulfill our purpose.

We believe in Saved Wholes, not just Saved Souls.

Jesus didn’t come to be an insurance policy after one dies. He came to bring life and life to the full. We are called to fulfill Jesus’s mission in Luke 4:18-19 to proclaim the Good News, to physically restore that which is broken, and to release people from oppression spiritually, relationally, and economically from that which binds.

We are Better Together.

As states in Romans 12:3, we are all broken and in need of a savior, we are just broken in different ways. As we enter into each other’s poverty with our riches, we are all transformed. Through this process, our image of God gets bigger, as it should, as God has a global heart for His people.

We go an Inch Wide, Mile Deep.

We believe in focused impact, not random activity. Breaking the chains of generational poverty, both physical and spiritual, is incredibly complicated. To work in this environment, we break it down into focused building blocks that stack on each other, moving towards a common goal. One person, one family, one community, one region, one country, one world.

We work in Integrity to create Sustainability.

We seek systematic God-sustaining change to fulfill Jesus Christ’s Kingdom purposes. We strive to honor God in a fiscally responsible way, making every effort to create transparency in our organization’s doings. We acknowledge and live in the tension of short-term giving while seeking long-term God-sustaining change. God is one of abundance and we will honor His generosity in the resources given to us.
