How to Write the Best Review for a Novel that People Find Helpful With so many novels on the Internet, it can be difficult for anyone to decide which of the novels they should buy and read. While the title and book cover say a lot about the novel (not all times, though), the proverb – “Don’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” was also made for some valid reasons. The one easy solution to this is to read online reviews. While any kind of genuine review provides an insight, most of the reviews available on the Internet are not descriptive and helpful. For instance, if you read a review “one of the best adventure novels for adults I’ve ever read”, you can only gather that the reader likes it. But you cannot find out if the novel is of your type, if it has something that will interest you, and so on. So, today, we are going to share a few tips on how to write useful and insightful reviews after you read a novel, no matter if you loved the novel or not. If it is hard to think what to say about a novel, just think of it as someone has asked you whether they should read that novel or not. Now, let’s check out the tips. Make your start with a couple of lines describing what the novel is about. Remember that, you must not give any spoilers or reveal any plot twists! Try to avoid writing in detail about anything that happens in the middle of the story or onwards. If some novel is a part of series and you know it, mention it in the review. Also, write about whether you think that you (and other people) need to read other novels of that series to fully enjoy this novel or not. Share what you liked about the novel. Most often, in the case of adventure novels for adults, readers develop a variety of emotions and feelings about the story itself and the way it is told. You can discuss who was your favorite character (and why), if the characters feel real to you, if the novel was able to keep you engaged the whole time, if the novel made you laugh or cry, if the novel was worth your time, and so on. If you didn’t like the novel, talk about why it didn’t intrigue you. For instance, did you not like the ending of the novel? Was the novel story too scary or bland? Did too much violence or too many twists (or anything) leave you frustrating? Did the author focus on a character or theme that you didn’t find interesting? Or, did you wish that the author should focus and explore the other character more? Whatever it is, feel free to talk about it (again, without giving spoilers or reveal plot twists).
