The Division offers a variety of postgraduate degrees from Biomedical Engineering, Health Innovation, Healthcare Technology Management, Mechanobiology to Neuroscience. Research areas in the Division include medical imaging and image processing, medical devices, musculo-skeletal biomechanics, orthopaedic biomechanics, cell and tissue mechanobiology, digital health, healthcare technology management, and health innovation. The head of the BME Division is Prof Ernesta Meintjes (pictured left). BME has 3 professors, 1 associate professor, 2 senior lecturers, 1 lecturer, 4 PASS staff, 7 post docs and 91 postgraduate students.
Division of Cellular, Nutritional and Physiological Sciences (CNPs) Welcome to the newly formed CNPs (pronounced snips!), an interim Division formed by the merger of the Division of Cell Biology and the Division of Physiological and Nutritional Sciences. CNPs is involved in the undergraduate teaching of medical, biomedical, and science students, and the training of postgraduate students and postdoctoral fellows. Within the Division researchers are focused on cancer cell biology, stem cell biology, developmental biology, neuroscience, cardiovascular physiology, public health nutrition and dietetics. The Division is also home to the UCT Confocal and Light Microscopy Core Facility. The head of the CNPs Division is Assoc Prof Dirk Lang (pictured right). CNPs has 2 professors, 1 associate professor, 7 senior lecturers, 4 lecturers, 9 PASS staff, 4 post docs and 61 postgraduate students.
Division of Clinical Anatomy and Biological Anthropology (CABA) CABA is dedicated to grow learning and scientific communities, in the context of diversity and inclusivity, for the betterment of the people of South Africa. Their vision is to impact the health of South African communities through scientific and teaching excellence via inter-disciplinary engagement, to uphold the dignity of all people, and create an environment of excellence and groundbreaking research. The team offers a diverse range of expertise in anatomy and biological anthropology. This expertise translates from research to teaching and enterprise. The head of the CABA Division is Assoc Prof Delva Shamley (pictured left). CABA has 2 associate professors, 3 senior lecturers, 3 lecturers, 6 PASS staff and 17 postgraduate students.
