Sunday 15 May - Cleaner Greener Festival A free to attend family festival with an environmentally friendly focus. Browse and buy from the vegan market on the Market Place, plus demonstrations, entertainment, activities for all the family and more to help residents take steps to live cleaner and greener. Sunday 3 July - Armed Forces Day Join in the fun in the town centre with 1940s trio, Rat Pack singer, dancing and children’s activities to show your support for servicemen and women, past and present. Supported by Mansfield District Council. Thursday 4 and Friday 5 August Mansfield Summer Festival, Titchfield Park Join us on Thursday evening for entertainment in a marquee involving comedy acts, live singers and more. On Friday, there is an all day summer festival with movie showings inside of the marquee and family entertainment around the park. Free for all to attend.

Wednesday 17 August - Mansfield Summer Festival, Carr Lane Park, Warsop A free family fun day with entertainment, stalls, live music, arena shows and much more for all the family. Games Café For people who love a good game of Monopoly or Scrabble, the Games Café is running at the Museum every other Thursday lunchtime. It will be held 1pm - 2.30pm including 17 March, 31 March and 8 April. Come along for a cup of tea and a variety of old fashioned board games. No booking is required, just turn up.

Learning and Engagement Mansfield Palace Youth Theatre is the perfect place to grow in confidence, find your voice and make new friends. We meet weekly in term time at the Palace Theatre, so join us - we’re a lovely bunch. Child mental health guarantee Our Youth Theatre is all about positive mental health, happiness and confidence. Some children and young people have found the pandemic not so bad, while others will have really struggled. More than ever we’re all aware of the importance of child mental health. Make a Start Mansfield 24 February - 9 June Thursdays 11.30am - 1pm Make a Start Mansfield is a new group to help people get back on their feet after lockdown. It’s all about building confidence, making new friends and gently easing yourself back into mixing with people again. So join us to relax, have a chat and, if you wish, take part in some arts activities like pottery, knitting or painting. These safe and laid back sessions are totally free to join, but you may wish to make a small donation of whatever you can. Come on your own or with a friend. We’re ready to welcome everyone with a smile and a cuppa - perhaps even a biscuit too! Free community transport is available. Write on Every other Thursday from 10 March. 6pm - 8pm Ages 13 - 19 Free Not sure how to get into writing? Have you done some writing but have not got your work out there? Start the year with something positive and join our new writing group. Working in partnership with Writing East Midlands, classes are taking place online and in person at the Palace. Led by Stacey Moon-Tracy, an experienced local writer and teacher, this class will help young people flex their writing muscles, grow in confidence and find out more about their own writing style. Anything goes, poetry, short stories or writing for the stage and screen, this is a great opportunity for all local young writers to give it a go. School trips can be a powerful tool to enhance learning and develop personal, social and emotional skills. We want students to engage with our people and places; from backstage tours to workshops around history or drama, we have you covered. We provide fantastic opportunities for pupils across the Key Stages to learn about their local environment, its history, its people, its natural features - and how they can do their bit to preserve it. Our education programme offers teachers a dynamic and cost-effective way to enhance classroom coverage of important areas of the National Curriculum in friendly, accessible and stimulating surroundings. At the height of the Cold War, two chess masters meet in Bangkok to battle for the world championship, but their greatest contest is for the love of one woman. Written in 1984 by ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, plus Tim Rice, Chess tells a story of love and political intrigue, set against the background of the Cold War in the late 1970s/early 1980s, in which superpowers attempt to manipulate an international chess championship for political ends.

Beyond the Barricade, the UK’s longest running Musical Theatre concert tour and features past principal performers from Les Misérables, delivering over two hours of the best of Broadway and the West End, ending of course with a stunning finale from Les Mis.

With nearly 40 years’ experience in the business and as the premier name in comedy, The Comedy Store is renowned as a breeding ground for new comedy talent, and remains the place to see tomorrow’s stars today.

Time: 7.30pm Tickets: £21.50 Venue: Palace Theatre, Main Stage Join expert forensics lecturer Jennifer Rees to explore one of Forensic Psychology’s most troubling topics. During this talk, Jennifer will explore the different categories and you will discover how serial killers are classified. Look at what the differences are between the types of serial killers and discuss the typical variances between males and female serial killers using case studies to illustrate. We will also investigate the phenomenon of killer couples such as Fred and Rose West and ‘The Moors Murderers’ Ian Brady and Myra Hindley and why women fall in love with known serial killers. You will watch a fascinating time-lapse video of facial reconstruction on the skull of a discovered body.

This fantastic show celebrates the music and career of Rod Stewart, one of rock music’s greatest icons starring Paul Metcalfe.

Fifty years after The Beatles first appeared, The Cavern Beatles is a band fully endorsed and licensed by the same club. As ambassadors The Cavern Club, The Cavern Beatles bring to the stage the music that has now influenced three generations.

Featuring a fantastic live band with impeccable credits, the first half of the show charts Rod’s rise to fame from the early 60s through to worldwide superstardom and record sales in excess of 250 million. Liverpool Afro-British band The Real Thing have been one of the UK’s most prominent bands over the last 25 years. Since 1976 they have stormed the charts with songs such as Can You Feel The Force, Can’t Get By Without You, You’ll Never Know What You’re Missing, Whenever You Want My Love, and of course You To Me Are Everything, among their fifteen Top 50 chart entries.

The Fizz are a British pop music group formed of three original members of Bucks Fizz. The core of the group consists of Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston.

The glory days of top vocal group Odyssey, one of the most successful soul/disco acts of their era, culminated in the early 1980s when they topped the charts with Use It Up And Wear It Out, scoring several other Top Ten hits in Britain and throughout the world. Their first smash single Native New Yorker, an international hit late in 1977.

The Real Thing still features original members Chris Amoo and Dave Smith.

To date, The Fizz have released three albums, two of which have charted in the Official UK Albums Chart. The 2017 album The F-Z of Pop reached number 25, becoming the highest-charting Bucks Fizz related album in 33 years.

Odyssey

One of the founding members’ son, Steven Collazo, had become part of Odyssey behind the scenes from its inception. The group cut their Hang Together album containing Use It Up And Wear It Out and Don’t Tell Me, Tell Her. In the UK, Use It Up shot to the top ten and number one chart hit, followed by If You’re Looking For A Way Out, Inside Out, and the Lamont Dozier classic Going Back To My Roots, among others. 25

The South are an impressive 9 piece band who feature former members of The Beautiful South including singer Alison Wheeler and lifelong sax player Gaz Birtles. Gaz also fronts the band with Alison and takes on vocal duties.

T’Pau burst onto the music scene in 1987 with the hit Heart and Soul which reached number 4 in both the UK and US charts. Taken from the debut album Bridge Of Spies, it’s innovative use of a rap verse by a white female vocalist introduced the world to the distinctive lead vocals of Carol Decker and the songwriting talents of Carol and Ronnie Rogers.

The ELO Experience have been bringing the music of Jeff Lynne and The Electric Light orchestra to the live stage since 2006.
