‘Glampground’ proposal withdrawn Neighbors who opposed the site express relief By Emily Ball | Manor Ink Livingston Manor, NY – The plans for the Firelight Glampground project in the hamlet have officially been canceled. The project was close to getting approvals, but the owners decided to pull out and move on to a different location, possibly in Ulster County. Neighbors of the proposed site on Little Ireland Road in the Manor were very vocal in voicing concerns before the Town of Rockland Planning Board on Feb. 5 about light pollution, noise, increased vehicular traffic and, perhaps most importantly, threats to groundwater posed by the projected 100 “glampsites.” Unfortunately, though the project may have seemed too large for its direct neighbors, it could have been beneficial for the majority of businesses in our town. There was talk of a lawsuit to block it which would have further delayed the company’s effort and increased their costs. A spokesperson for neighbors against the project, Vito Racanelli, who had previously appeared before the board, said, “This is good � Page 7
