NoMo SoHo and its ownership, the global real estate and investment firm Sapir Corp Ltd., have launched a curated non-fungible token (NFT), making the hotel the first in the U.S. to offer guests an innovative way to book stays using blockchain technology. The sleek, 26-story, 264-room NoMo SoHo, managed by Highgate, is the tallest building in the neighborhood, flaunts sweeping panoramas of the city skyline and is home to the neighborhood’s NoMo Kitchen restaurant and cocktail bar Nina’s x Liquid Lab. Using SolidBlock’s platform and technology, NFTstays (a selection of curated NFTs) are packaged with three- to six-night stays at NoMo SoHo. Local New York City retail legend Century 21 is making a comeback, relaunching in Spring 2023 at its flagship location downtown across from the World Trade Center. The retailer and purveyor of off-price luxury fashion have teamed up with global premium experiences company Legends to return to physical retail. The chain, which at one point had 13 stores in New York City and environs, filed for bankruptcy and shuttered all of its locations in September 2020, citing a lack of payment on its business interruption insurance (due to enforced closing as a result of COVID-19) as a cause. The flagship had also been closed in 2001 as a result of the 9/11 attacks, but had received insurance payments at that time. “Century 21 is, and always will be, a New York City brand,” said Raymond Gindi, Century 21 co-CEO. “Our flagship store has been a

Long Island Regional Planning Council designates JLL’s Midway Crossing a “Project of Regional Significance”
The Long Island Regional Planning Council, the region’s leading planning body, has designated JLL’s proposed Midway Crossing development in Suffolk County, New York, a “Project of Regional Significance.” The $2.8 billion project is being developed in a public-private partnership between the Town of Islip, Suffolk County and JLL.
Located in Ronkonkoma in the Town of Islip, the 2.7-million-square-foot development consists of medical research, healthcare, hotel and convention center, sports, entertainment and retail components. Midway Crossing also would create an intermodal, transportation-oriented hub, modernizing and moving Long Island MacArthur Airport’s terminal to the property’s north side.
The airport and the Ronkonkoma LIRR Station would be connected via a walkable 1,800-foot corridor, with Midway Crossing’s elements occupying 179 acres of under-used and undeveloped land mostly owned by the town and the county. A true “train-to-plane solution,” Midway Crossing leverages $15 billion-plus in investments in the MTA’s East Side Access and Main Line Expansion projects to allow millions of New Yorkers to travel between New York City and the airport.
Marotta Controls Opens Second Facility in Parsippany
Aerospace and defense supplier Marotta Controls has opened a second facility located in Parsippany, New Jersey. The company will retain its Montville, New Jersey buildings, using the freed-up space to expand its production capacity, development labs and testing facilities.
The move is driven by a significant growth across Marotta Controls, which has operated solely out of its Montville location for more than seven decades. The company has added more than 200 members to its employee base. Its solutions in markets outside its legacy valve offerings are shifting from development phase to volume production, creating the need for exponentially more manufacturing and assembling capacity on site.
The company’s executive and main business functions — including the engineering, human resources, program management, marketing and finance departments— will relocate to the Parsippany address, which spans 50,000 square feet.
