MHA President’s Report - Jay Rimke

I imagine this report finds everyone with a great start to the New Year. I look forward to meeting up with everyone to hear about their new calves hitting the ground or will be soon.

It looks like in the long range forecast that it is supposed to warm up some. I’m sure everyone is like me and want it to warm up some and have no wind at all. All we can do though is hope. The cattle market has been strong into the New Year, all we can do is wish they will stay strong right through the entire year.

I’m sure some breeders are busy trying to get bulls ready for bull sale season while trying to calve at the same time. Hopefully there are plenty of guys looking for bulls and females this spring, to replenish the cattle that were sold in the drought years to increase the cattle numbers in Manitoba again.

Good luck to everyone with their calving and get plenty of rest whenever you can. We will see everyone down the road at sales coming up this spring and at all the shows that are planned throughout the year. I expect we will have green pastures again this spring and good luck to everyone with any seeding you got planned as well.
