God’s Perspective On Good & Evil The Quranic & Islamic Point of view

By Dr & Mrs Mubashar

God – Is there any? • The existence of Man & the world around us indicate His presence. • The Organisation, discipline and creativity in the universe speaks for its creator.

God – Does HE really care ? • The Complex nature and working of this world – poor & rich – disadvantaged & privileged

• People do not get justice in this world • Is life in this world unfair ? • Is there something we don’t know?

Purpose of Man’s Creation • Why are we here ? • Are we here by chance and for fun only ? • Material world is not an absolute reality • Perception of our five senses • Absolute Reality is beyond matter • Death is not an absolute end

Imagine if you were GOD • You have created various creations that are restricted in following your commands • But now you create a creation that has unbound potential to explore. • Here is the dimension of perfection of your Almightiness – You give two things to that creation • A free will to chose • And intelligence & potential to explore

Imagine if you were GOD • You have all powers over everyone • But you do not use your powers fully on them because you have given this creation a choice • You wish mankind to practice their free will with intelligence and potential • Now the success of Mankind as a creation is (through his free will) recognise his Creator’s powers and follow His guidance. • They have a privilege over other creations in their reward from you

Free Will & Choice • There could only be 2 choices for mankind – a good & righteous path – bad & evil path.

• In order to practice those choices with their free will, they have to have some settings • Hence for Mankind this world is that setting

Creation of Instincts • In order to recognise these two choices God has created two types of instincts in Mankind – Evil Instinct – Good Instinct

Evil Instincts • Jealousy – Hate • Anger – Revenge, Murder, Sarcasm • Selfishness – Dishonesty, Lying, Deceiving, Theft, Rape, Betrayal

Good Instincts • Love – Compassion, caring, sincerity • Patience – Kindness, forgiveness • Sacrifice – Honesty, truth

Role of Satan / Devil • God’s plan for mankind was independent of Satan’s involvement (Quran) • Satan is now onboard this plan • He exploits Mankind’s worst evil instincts

This complex world • Mankind face two types of sufferings – Natural phenomena (Disasters, disease, misfortunes etc) • Gods plans for people to test them how well they perform in those given settings

This complex world Injustices by other people • God created feelings & emotions (Happiness, sorrow, satisfaction, anger, rage, jealousy etc) • People are given variety of situations to practice them • God is the judge of their performance

Life of this world • A test setting for everyone. • Each individual gets their unique setting • Each individual will be judged according to their setting • Rich and powerful for theirs • Poor and disadvantaged for theirs

Life of Hereafter ? • This complex nature of world needs an end point – The day of judgement • Where people should be equally treated and justice should prevail • All people should be either rewarded or punished according to their deeds in this world

Good & Evil in this world • The life of this world is an examination • Mankind has been given choices & settings to practice them with two types of instincts (Good & Evil) • Everyone has been given different test settings • All individuals are answerable for their own deeds in response to the setting they are given • Day of Judgment is a logical end of this exam
