If transplant is a better option than why people get dialysis because there is a demand and supply gap means there are lots of people who need kidney but there are fewer donors. People who need a kidney transplant but do not have a suitable living donor has to wait until suitable deceased donor kidney is available. Sometimes it takes 2-3 years to find a suitable kidney donor.

A kidney transplant is not suitable for the people who are very old or have an ongoing infection, severe heart disease, cancer or AIDS. According to available data, one in every three people with kidney failure is suitable for the kidney transplant.
