Office Training: Making the Most of Microsoft and Google

Office 365 provides a unique challenge for users. With so many apps to choose, how do you pick? Spend Feb. 26-27 with Microsoft trainers at Four Points by Sheraton (530 Richards Dr.) and learn about a variety of programs, including OneNote, OneDrive, Teams, Planner and more. Instructors point guests toward better efficiency using the whole suite of Microsoft programs. Day two features Google trainers teaching how to maximize Google placement, reach local customers online and gather data to drive business growth. Address your Google Business listing and help locals find your Google My Business listing, potentially a customer’s first impression. How do you stack up to your competition? New CEO transition tops Sloan’s agenda as 2019 Board Chair

Chair Elect Wayne Sloan has set a positive agenda to advance the Manhattan business environment, and it’s topped by easing the transition for the next Chamber president. Sloan envisions a seamless conversion after 18-plus years of Lyle Butler’s steady leadership. Building toward a framework for the new CEO’s vision could be seen as second nature for Sloan with construction in his bloodlines. Sloan is Chairman/CEO of BHS Construction which has impacted the region with projects to include Saint Thomas More church sanctuary and Columbian Theatre renovations in Wamego. Beyond the February leadership transition, Sloan is enthusiastic about creating inertia for young leaders to emerge among Manhattan’s business landscape. “We want to look at how to get our young professionals more involved and organized toward strong leadership for Manhattan,” Sloan said. “It’s not about age, it’s about being actively young and thinking from a new mindset for our professionals.” Another 2019 priority includes ascension of the Region Reimagined program as a guiding influence around the three-county region. Sloan has high expectations that many independent groupings can conjoin ideas and create efficiencies for multiple community development sectors to flourish. Sloan has been with BHS for 35 years and served on boards with Saint Mary Hospital and chair for Boys and Girls Clubs (Kansas Alliance). His recent, active roles include Greater Manhattan Economic Partnership, Pawnee Mental Health Foundation and Landmark National Bank in addition to the Chamber board.
