Portable Heating Bottle Product Design Individual Project

The portable heating water bottle can be used in anywhere and anytime. A lot of people are in urgent need of warm water when they are outside, so the portable heating water bottle can make sure everyone can get warm water outside.

It deals with some part of the ethnic group problem that they cannot obtain warm water.

The warm water is important for some specific ethnic group. For example, a family who need

to soak milk to a baby, people who always go to mountain climbing, elders, and got cold people. The warm water is not easy to get outside, and also most of heating water products are used indoor. It means they need to be plugged in to work. Furthermore, a lot of people did not use up completely the water that had cooked, so it causes a lot of energy wastes and damage the environment.

This design is going to create a portable heating bottle that can heat water anywhere and

anytime. This bottle also is friendly for the environment. For example, water will not be heated to extremely hot. Therefore, it will reduce energy waste.

According to the research data, I had a lot of design ideas, and I drew the

ideas down. After that, I presented all of the ideas to the target group, and they gave me feedback and opinions in this design. Finally, the final design came up, and the product is designed for them.

YI ZHEN Product Design Individual Project

The name of YI ZHEN is translated

directly from Chinese, and the meaning is Taiwanese folk art performance. Ba Jia Jiang is a part of Taiwan's folk belief. As guardians of the mortals, they can travel between Ying (ghost space and heaven) and Yang (human space) to carry out their duty of upholding justice and casting out demons. Just as the incense eliminates odours, repels mosquitoes, and calms one's spirit, Ba Ja Jiang serves to eliminate evil and stabilise the mind.

Loyal and Faithful Product Design Individual Project

Ba Ye ended up drowning because

he refused to break his appointment with Qi Ye Seeing that his dear friend died waiting for him, Qi Ye chose to hang himself as well. Ba Ye symbolizes loyalty while Qi Ye symbolizes comradery. In tea utensils the tea strainer is akin to the ever-waiting Ba Ye, always clinging on to the rim of the cup.

Qi Ye in his attempt to save his good friend turned into a teaspoon which removes water.

According to the summary of literature research. Ba Jia Jiang

has 8 members in the team, include Ba Ye and Qi Ye (Loyal and Faithful).

The origin of Ba Jia Jiang has 5 kinds of saying, and the three most common ones are: 1. They were thieves in the mountain after then they were conquered by Cheng Huang.

2. They performed an exorcism of evil spirits for the Wufu Emperor.

3. Ba Jia Jiang evolved to appear also as bodyguards to Wang Ye and Matsu and at many other temples.

Most people think the Ba Jia Jiang is very dignified, a part of

people believed they look scary and messy. The biggest motivation for the project was to turn people's bad impression of Ba Jia Jiang into a good impression and reduce a sense of fear of them.

Household items are the products that

people will most often use in daily life. If the common product combines with the culture that is unfamiliar to people, they might be getting used to it. It took the action from folk art performance of Ba Jia Jiang into the sketch. Finally, the decision is the incense burner as design development. Due to the incense burner can completely show the concept that Ba Jia Jiang eliminates bad things.

The design process was divided

into three stages. The first stage was making plaster moulds, and the second stage was to use the mould to copy the product. The last stage was to take ceramic to fire and glazing.

The original symbol of Ba Jia Jiang

brings peace and safety to people. Due to a lot of social issues, people gradually become afraid of them. The biggest fear is from their face painting, and it makes them more serious.

This design will break people’s

fear of them and retain respect for them.

Transforming the most representative painting on their faces to use into household items, and it makes daily necessities more colourful and cultural features.

modelling. That was not really hard, but this was still a challenge for me. I am glad to learn a lot from this project.

I learn how to build 3D and print 3D. It is very helpful for me as a product design student.

The handle of the

spoon refers to the hat of the Ba Jia Jiang, and it takes the form of twisting way. On the surface of the spoon was painted the unique lines of Ba Jia Jiang cultures.

The surface inside of the soy sauce dish depicts

the lines of the face of Ba Jia Jiang. The internal lines of soy sauce dish are not obvious before adding soy sauce, and the pattern can be seen clearly after adding soy sauce.

The bowl has eight angles that mean Chinese

Bagua, and the two horns represent the majesty of Ba Jia Jiang. Tai Chi in the middle of the bowl means to make everything peaceful.

The design of the chopstick

holder and chopsticks refer to the torture instruments that Ba Jia Jiang is holding. Turn the scary torture into beautiful tableware without losing the culture of Ba Jia Jiang.

Simplicity Product Design Individual Project

The tea set uses Hakka elements

to combine the tung tree flowers with the cups to represent. The team spirit of the Hakka people is like petals. If one piece petal is missing, it will not be complete.

When drinking tea with the cup, people can feel experience the atmosphere of Hakka culture. The saucer also can hold small cookies, which makes drinking tea not boring.

Hakka culture can be discussed

in many aspects, including Hakka spirit, clothes, beliefs, music, and customs. The national identity of Hakka links the entire @ 客家中心

Hakka culture. The national characteristics of the Hakkas include: they are study hard, unite and cooperate. The Hakka spirit often reminds us of thrift, simplicity and teamwork. They often insist on their ideals, as long as the decisions are made.

I thought this was easy when I saw people did, but when

I tried, I released this was not easy than I thought. The shape was not easy to control, and the thickness of the cup will be uneven if I didn’t control well. Another difficulty is the temperature of my palm is hot, so I need to do it fast. Otherwise, the clay will dry out quickly due to the temperature of the palm. After this study, let me know how to handmade pottery. If I need to do the product that related pottery next time, I will know more about its characteristics.
