Providing respectful service Losing a loved one is the hardest single ordeal a person has to endure, but Walter Ducharme does everything he can to provide local residents with a meaningful and respectful means of saying good-bye. Ducharme owns and operates Ducharme Funeral Home and Roberts Aubin Funeral Home, located in Castleton and Poultney, respectively. The two businesses specialize in memorial products and services, including keepsakes, caskets and urns. He also operates his own crematory. “I’m very proud of owning our own crematory and handling the process of cremation from start to end,” he said. “It provides peace of mind for families knowing their loved one never leaves our care.” Ducharme has owned his own funeral home since it opened in Castleton in 2002. The Poultney funeral home was

acquired in June 2010. He credits his involvement with the Castleton First Responders for his inspiration to enter the memorial service industry. “Having been working in the emergency medical services for years, I found it was another way to help people in a time of need.” He was also inspired by his father-in-law, Doug King, whom he has worked with. Ducharme said people are always surprised with the savings they realize when they chose to have him prepare their memorial services. Customers are encouraged to shop around and compare prices and services. For more information, you can call Ducharme Funeral Home at 468-0026, Roberts Aubin Funeral Home at 2875511 or go online to ducharmefuneralhome.com and robertsaubinfuneralhome.com.
