Welcome to The Manchester Museum. Our building can be a bit confusing, so to help you find your way we have split it into zones A and B (each zone has its own lift). If you do get lost, just ask a member of staff.

Floor 1 Zone A Ancient Egypt: Everyday objects and mummies explain the cycle of life and death in ancient Egypt. Closed from May 2011. Ancient Worlds opens Oct 2012. Manchester Gallery: Explore the links between our collection and the people and history of Manchester. Living Cultures & Archery: Objects made and used by people, revealing different cultures. Zone B

Mediterranean Archaeology Roman, Greek and other Ancient World objects. Closed from May 2011. Ancient Worlds opens Oct 2012. Kanaris Lecture Theatre Zone B Live Animals: Live reptiles and amphibians including frogs and snakes. Animal Life: Birds, butterflies and creepy crawlies.

Floor 3 Zone B Temporary Exhibitions

Nature Discovery: Exploration area for families with younger children.

Resource Centre: Research, draw and handle objects not on display.

Living Planet: Open from Apr 2011. Explore the connections between all living things, including us, and help shape the future.

Greenhouse: Learn how the fruit you eat grows. Life Lab: Education space. Play + Learn: Read, draw and relax with your family. Picnic Area
