Reception
The opportunity to visit such a beautiful library and explore literacy in a different setting was a great way to continue to foster a love of reading! Well done to Reception!

Year 1
As we approach the end of the school year, we have had such a busy but fun-filled few weeks with the children. We had our annual Swimming Gala and Sports Day last month, and it was so wonderful to see all of the children get involved- showing determination to succeed and supporting one another to do their best. We started this month with the Science Fair. We had so many children taking part in the science fair, showing us their knowledge and passion, and inspiring others to learn more about science and famous scientists.
In English we have been learning the story of ‘The Tiny Seed’ by Eric Carle. The children used a story map to retell the story and then innovated it to create their own journey stories. We had so many unique ideas such as ‘The Tiny tadpole, ‘The Tiny hedgehog and ‘The Tiny Spider’. It is so wonderful to see the quality of writing the children have been producing.
Year 1
In Maths we have been looking at Place Value to 100. We have covered counting forwards and backwards to 100 and partitioning numbers. This was a practical activity and the children practised partitioning numbers with different resources. We have also been comparing numbers, looking at how many tens and ones a number has and using the language greater than, less than and equal to. Lastly, we have ordered numbers and have been doing this practically with number cards.

It has been lovely to finish the year with so many exciting activities and opportunities to work together as a team. We are so proud to see how far the children have all come and how much they all care for and support one another.

Year 2
With this year seeming to race to the finish, the Year 2 bear classes have continued to work extremely hard. We started this month with the fantastic Science Fair where some children from both classes set up their own stalls with scientific investigations. They all did exceptionally well demonstrating with confidence. We have been doing a lot of science the past few weeks. We have planted seeds, investigated heat absorption and researched facts about planets in our solar system. They are becoming experts in all the different scientific skills we use and are constantly asking the right investigative questions.
