Thank you for the dramatic impact you make in the lives of our patients. We are excited to invite you to our joint event, the United in Wellness Gala: Lighting the Way to Health. This fundraiser celebrates the physician volunteers and healthcare partners of Champions for Health (CFH) and the 155th installation of the San Diego County Medical Society (SDCMS) President.
Founded in 1870, the SDCMS is the professional association for physicians in San Diego. SDCMS currently counts over 4,600 physicians and medical students as members. SDCMS — “Physicians United for a Healthy San Diego” — fights for access to quality healthcare for all San Diegans, the protection of the public health, and the betterment of the medical profession. The physician leaders of the SDCMS had a vision to make a difference in the health and lives of people right here in San Diego County, so they created a foundation, which continues today as Champions for Health. CFH is dedicated to providing access to critically needed healthcare for uninsured, low-income San Diegans who would otherwise face insurmountable barriers to care. CFH recruits, mobilizes, and supports hundreds of volunteer physicians and nurses to provide free preventive and specialty care services.
CFH has a long history of success, including serving 9,600-plus uninsured patients through the provision of 17,000 free consultations and 2,000 free surgeries – totaling $29 million in pro-bono medical services. These life-saving services allow these patients to regain their health, return to work, care for their families, and remain productive members of our community. CFH also supports community members’ path to health via free immunizations with 30,000+ COVID-19, flu, tdap, Hep A, Mpx and pediatric vaccine doses provided this year.
Our joint United in Wellness gala, Lighting the Way to Health, will be held at the sophisticated event space Eve at RaDD on Saturday June 14, 2025 from 5-9pm. One person unites us: the patient and their basic need for health. Your sponsorship of the gala will make a difference and impact the life of each person, their family, and the community as a whole. Our patients are like a seed, surrounded by the darkness of illness. Join us in bringing our seeds, our patients, to the light of health.
