Our Strategy
PARTNERSHIPS COMMUNITY AGENCY

LONG-TERM
SUSTAINABLE CHANGE
Handouts
Applying our Strategy
Small and large-scale handout-outs of both single-use and reusable pads donated by partners and giving the community agency the to choose the product they would prefer to use
Ambassador & Mentorship Programme

Education
Educating, and empowering young leaders to be role models within communities; to encourage young people to step up and step forward to help period poverty.

Educational Workshops, educating our ambassadors, schools, and the broader community. This will ensure long term sustainable change as young people are able to continue educating others around them

Ambassador Programme

To assist in ensuring there are resources within as many schools as possible to ensure no one has to ever worry about their period, ever worry about missing school whilst on their period, and never has to worry about the financial burdens of period products;

To act as eyes and ears within their own communities as well as "sisters" to those in need;
To help promote menstrual hygiene education in local communities; Volunteer with Mama Flo at various events/workshops/ social media campaigns; and Bring new ideas to Mama Flo as to how best we can assist their community; and Initiate their own Mama Flo events and bring proposals to the Mama Flo team; and Promote, encourage and instill leadership skills
Impact and Achievements The Numbers
Over 4500 women have been provided with sanitary products in and around Cape Town;

Over 8000 packs of pads handed out;
Over 10 educational workshops held;

Over 300 packs of reusable pads handed out;
Over R100 000 raised and counting...

The Road Ahead:
Short Term: 1 -2 years:
Secure ongoing and long-term funding to become a sustainable organisation; Employ two full-time employees to be able to further our reach; Providing at least 1 000 women with a reusable set of pads ( to last them 5 years)
Have a second intake of ambassadors, and be able to train them to become leaders in their communities. Create a training programme and begin rolling out workshops in schools for both young men and women to learn about period poverty and menstrual health. Roll out at least 20 workshops per year. Secure multiple funding streams for us to broaden our commitment to communities.
Long Term goals: 3 -5 years
Secure funds to employ a full-time operational team to run Mama Flo. Have an Ambassador programme in at least 3 different communities in Cape Town and one in another province.
Develop our own reusable pads to service communities we work with and create jobs to empower women. Strengthen relationships with government, both local and on a national level. Work towards implementing Mama Flo workshops regularly in schools across Cape Town. Broaden relationships internationally;
