Recently the Clearview Primary School community watched as their long awaited and much anticipated mural underwent a grand unveiling. The mural, which was twelve months in the making, initially

began with a small team of students from the school working with teacher, Adele Allport, Allport to create the design concept. Once this was completed pupils were encouraged to become involved,

in the development of the mural. Mayor Broughton was impressed with the way the students were able to articulate how the mural links to the Clearview values. The 3D components add flair to the design and kept school property manager, Ricky Hoffmeester busy putting them all together. The mural takes pride of place at the main entrance of the school and is admired by all as they enter the school grounds. It was an ambitious design that took many months to execute, but all would agree that it was well worth the effort.

which resulted in about 130 students working on the project. The mural design features the four school houses; Earth, Air, Water and Fire. Tane Mahuta, the Clearview eye and the Waimakariri river are all featured prominently in the centre of the mural. The mural also includes copper circles, which have the school’s values imprinted on them: Collaborate, Climb, Connect, Care, Create and Curious. Selwyn District Mayor, Sam Broughton, Broughton visited the school to view the mural and discussed with some Year 7 and 8 student ambassadors and the mural artists, the processes involved
