The next Tiger Woods, Woods could well be a Kiwi and a local one at that! Dominic Brettkelly (16) has been accepted to play in the IMG Academy Junior World Golf Championships at Torrey Pines, San Diego, on July 12th 15th. Dominic will play in the 15 -18 year age bracket on the US PGA championship golf course. Dominic will embark on this exciting trip to the USA with Hiroki Miya (Russley Golf Club) and their coach, Rodney Yee. Yee The boys will play a warm up tournament, prior to the main event from July 4-7th, before relocating to Torrey Pines, in preparation for the Championships. Dominic has always been extremely keen and focussed on his golf since he was a young boy. He wants to make a career out of the game, ultimately planning on being a regular PGA tour professional; his dream is to win a golf major one day. Dominic is hoping that by travelling to the USA this July, it will be the beginning of steps needed toward realising this dream. “There are two reasons for

Neutze “Dominic ideally wants to play on a Division I college golf team while pursuing his studies in the USA.� Recruitment scouts from all the US golf teams will be at both tournaments, looking for the best players to fill their rosters. Dominic has been playing golf for ten years, starting as a six year old in the junior programme at Hororata Golf Club. Under the guidance of Brian Cleland, he has progressed through the grades, to where he is now - playing in Dominic Brettkelly US bound for golf. Men’s open events.
