SELWYN ART SHOW

The Selwyn Art Show 2023 will be held at the Rolleston Community Centre on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th of May.

The Show will feature more than seventy five artists from all over the Canterbury region, with a large number of local Selwyn artists represented. Exhibits will include sculpture, painting, ceramics printmaking, photography and fibre crafts. This is the 21st annual Art Show held by the Arts Heart Selwyn Central Arts Council, and each year it grows in size, with more artists exhibiting.

Jessica Waters is a local Rolleston artist who is looking forward to displaying her art at the upcoming Show.

“I am super excited to be a part of the upcoming Selwyn Art Show for a second year,” commented Jessica.

“The Show is an empowering event where artists come together to bravely put our hearts on our sleeves, and show the world what we passionately create tucked away in our studios, workshops, or even kitchen tables!”

In high school, Jessica was always drawing and being creative, which naturally flowed onto studying a Bachelor of Design. She worked in the printing and picture framing industries in Christchurch and London respectively. Jessica has also successfully illustrated three children's books and last year won an award at the annual Darfield Artweek exhibition.

“The Selwyn Art Show is such a fantastic opportunity to have many local eyes on my work, as well as people that travel from afar to come to the Show. I'm so grateful this is a part of my community,” Jessica added. Jessica’s art business Creative Infinity Art will have two panels filled with beautiful limited edition giclee prints and a table of whimsical wonderful originals, including a sprinkle of dried flower goodness.

“It is great, as artists, to be able to fill our display spaces how we wish, giving us a chance to be involved with how best to showcase our own work. The chance to refill gaps, if works sell, is an added bonus,” Jessica concluded.

Art lovers of all ages are invited to come along and be inspired by the creativity on display. Artwork is available for purchase throughout the weekend, and eftpos is available.
