ROLLESTON MEN’S SHED UPDATE

The Rolleston Men’s Shed Woodwork Workshop is always busy. They recently made dodgeball pits for two Rolleston schools, and subsequently a third school has now asked for one.

Lengths of timber are being laid out for marking and drilling for coat and bag racks. Another two easy chairs are being repaired with four more kitchen chairs, dismantled ready for repair and refurbishment also.

A Chinese camphor wood chest has had castors fitted and now needs the wood oiled. A table is being made from kwila wood to be used to support a planter box. The Shed has been donated metal from a firm changing premises. This will be used for projects in the Engineering Workshop. An AC/DC Tig Welder has been donated, and both metal and welder were gratefully received.

A member of the Shed had the Engineering Workshop repair his bike rack. This was one he had originally made many decades ago using it on his bike for a ride up the coast of California. He has been known to ride to the Shed with a desktop computer strapped to the rack on his bicycle.

The Electronics Section is discovering out how many appliances are now poorly designed. So many manufacturers try to make it impossible to access them to do any repairs, so not every attempt to fix an item is successful. A good yarn and the morning cuppa are still the important items.

Feel free to drop by for a yarn!

The Shed, situated at 54 Dynes Road, Rolleston is open Saturday, Monday and Wednesday mornings. Visit our website for further information: rollestonshed.wordpress.com
