Why do people move into Darfield, a farming community, and then complaining about the noise from farming practices - in particular bird guns. I have lived in my home in Darfield for 8 years and my bed is 12 metres from the south boundary of one of the crop farms. The bird scaring gunsfacemy house but my wife and I have neverhadaproblemwithit.
This year would be the worst year we have ever seen for pest birds, there are thousands more than normal because of the warmerclimate.
The regulations on the numbers of shots per hour need to be increased to correspond with increased bird numbers. As for farmers working at night they are doing that to keep moisture in the soil and to stop the thousands of seagulls eating the precious wormstheybringtothesurface.
So if youdon’t likethefarming community there is aperfectly good roadleadingto Christchurch.
