She published ‘Whistle Blower: Abuse of Power in the Church - a New Zealand Story’ in 2001, which resulted in several women coming forward who had experienced similar abuse in the church, including those who appeared before the Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care to testify. He was a Selwyn District Councillor for several terms (between 1989 and 2004), was Mayor from 1992 to 1995, and is currently on the Malvern Community Board. He was the driving force for the building of the bridge over the Selwyn River on Bealey Road, and was responsible for the replacement of the Mt White Bridge, which was built debt free by his successful negotiation of a contribution from DOC.
