My vases are made from Victorian Ash timber. The initial idea for them came from wanting to use timber that was too short to use commercially.

The other components are brass and a range of ‘collars’ made in PLA (3d printed), ceramic or glass. The collars allow water to be contained and therefore a single flower to be displayed.

The vases are hand planed to create the facets. There is a taper between the bottom pentagon and the top pentagon.The vases can sit an angle or can be straight.

The vase has a weight that stops them from tipping over. The brass disc carries my mark.

I like to use colour. Sometimes the vases are painted at the top with natural bottoms and sometimes its the reverse.

Each vase is unique and is hand painted and hand finished.

The vases come in a tube that has a label. The plan is to make these vases in a range of timbers - Maple, American Oak and Ash.

The top hole can receive a water tight collar in various materials.

I make the vases in batches of 10.

The indicative retail price is around $300.00 (ex GST) without a collar and in Victorian Ash. A PLA collar (3D printed - shown) will add another $5.00 to the overall price.

I am investigating ways of bringing the overall costs down.
