The Covid 19 Pandemic has affected almost everyone worldwide in one way or another. Very few lives have been untouched by this horrid disease. The economy of Mallorca, part of the Balearic Islands, has suffered drastically due to their irrefutable dependence on Tourism, but it’s bouncing back strong.

There were over three hundred four-star hotels in Mallorca (Balearic Islands). Three-star hotels amounted to 202 (eleven of them premium), thus becoming the second largest option on this Spanish island.

Pre Pandemic Occupancy rates slowly rose over the period between 2010 and 2019 in consideration, reaching 79.6 percent in 2016. In 2017, it decreased again to 78.9 percent.

Mallorca’s tourism focus continues to be one of premium quality, personalised experiences and intimacy; many of the new hotels feature private terraces, swimming pools and hot tubs. Ten Mallorca The idea of Ten Mallorca was created by Jo and John in 2015 after three and a half years of passion and managing and designing the renovation of this wonderful old archeologically important house. Both property surveyors by trade, they decided to move to Mallorca and use their skills and experience from their jobs and love of travelling across the world. John is an avid cyclist and therefore Mallorca was an easy choice due to the challenging and stunning rides it has to offer. Ten Mallorca is a beautiful traditional Mallorcan house that has bags of history that was restored into a luxury hotel.

Once the home of Joan Riera there was a pilgrimage to the house here in 1919 that led to the Art Deco bathroom theme. All of the rooms are individually designed with designer wallpapers oak parquet floors and great bathrooms with walk in showers. Two have balconies, and two have their own terraces. Two rooms are on the ground floor and one is wheelchair accessible. The other rooms are on the first floor via a wide staircase.

Son Bunyola Welcome to Son Bunyola on the picturesque island of Mallorca. This vast estate on the island’s northwest coast includes three luxury villas, Sa Terra Rotja, Sa Punta de S’Aguila and Son Balagueret set amidst 680 acres of stunning landscape.

Sir Richard’s love affair with the island stretches back some 60 years and, after having sold Son Bunyola and his world famous hotel La Residencia in Deia in 2002 after a conflict of interests with the local authorities over his plans for Son Bunyola, he was able to buy the estate in Son Bunyola back in 2015.

The Mayor of Banyalbufar, Mateu Ferrà, granted Sir Richard permission to develop the 15th century manor house on the 680 acre-plus Son Bunyola estate into a small luxury hotel with 29 bedrooms.

For Sir Richard, this is a dream come true and work on restoring the manor house to its former glory is due to begin in earnest this spring with the hotel opening in 2023.

The Son Bunyola estate is part of a World Heritage Site and is home to many olive and almond trees as well as grape vines and citrus fruit trees.
